I think you have misunderstood my point.

Samsung are telling their customers that if they use B.yond they will be able to get some magical thing call "Full colour, Full HD 3D" and that is not true.

"Full HD" means 1080p, b.yond goes up to 1080i
"Full Colour Full HD 3D" is marketing talk and means nothing at all. There is no common understanding of what 3D spec is considered "Full colour full HD 3D" It can only possible be talking about using a bluray and a 3D bluray disk viewed on their TV. Most definately can not be quoted against a comment about plugging b.yond into it.

I subscribed to b.yond 2 months ready now, been watching NatGeo HD and History HD and family watches HBO HD sometimes.

Now lets make a list of movies that play on HBO HD, I feel very limited movies that are actually in HD/full HD, majority others are up-scaled.

Movie that i think is real good picture quality (on HBO HD / CH 431) :

1) Elizabeth Astro guide/playtime

I think Dark Knight was great on HBO HD Asia... Kung Fu Panda Also Great... there are many great movies in HD but Im not denying the fact that there are so many movies that has been upscale from SD to HD... heh...

but its not HBO/Astro 's Fault as the movie wasn't shot on HD..

The audio problem were from the site itself not from Astro
The commentator noted that at the end of the 1st half

Bee Movies also looked very GOOD on HBO HD!

Yeah, i saw the announcement at bottom. "We apologize for the audio quality..etc".

I knew it was from the broadcasting source and not Astro.

Hopefully tonight's Liverpool game not the similar issue occurs, although not shown in HD.

All movies shot in film have 2k HD resolution.

Most tv programmes from the US are in fact shot on film.

It's just that all the master tapes up until recently have only been available in SD formats.

HBO has to upscale some movies, simply because they only own an SD master.

It's very sad that HBO HD doesn't have all HD source material.
Unfortunately up to this point the film studios are just starting to release HD masters of their films for television distribution.


As I've said before, they should really mark in the program guide which movies have HD masters and which ones don't.

oooooooooo......... then is it possible if the godfather be remastered for HD??

Anything that has been re-mastered for Blu-Ray is already in a state that can easily be transferred to HDCam Tape to deliver to HBO HD.

It's just a question of HBO HD demanding to get an HDCam copy.

HBO should already have an HD version.


If they were more truthful about what is HD and not HD then customers would apply a lot more pressure on them.

Don't blame Astro, they have absolutely no contol over what HBO fills the channel with.

And I noticed, Astro WLT have a good PQ than other SD channels...

I think TVB series are shot in HD, a lot to learn from hong kong film maker/broadcaster, astro learn fast fast and gives us improved SD channels quality

yes... TVB series are shot in HD..
but not all.. only certain series....
other series if i'm not mistaken, just upscale one.. but aspect ratio is in 16:9...
