QUOTE(kianwee @ Apr 20 2010, 07:13 PM) Sorry if this is an old question, I just got my byond installed today. But apparently there's nothing on the screen if i switch to HDMI, so they have to use the lame RCA to connect Try to check the system information in the byond box & see the HDMI status is on or off. If off, you have to call ASTRO and tell them to switch it on.Any idea what is wrong? I'm using byond on a S10 Panasonic Plasma. Firmware is 1.2s |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ May 28 2010, 10:27 PM) The HD set-top boxes, to be introduced by year-end, will only be for HD, but an external hard disc for PVR can be added. Next year it will introduce HD/PVR set-top boxes. So, what they told is this year we have to get the HDD addon if we want to use PVR function and next year they will introduce new b.yond HD decoder that build in HDD... QUOTE(AjkR06 @ May 28 2010, 10:27 PM) On the differences between the latest PVR system and its predecessor, the discontinued Astro Max, she says: “This will be the first deployment of a new kind of PVR with many of the world’s largest broadcasters to follow Astro throughout 2010. In order to bring this next-generation PVR, Astro has fully licensed all the best-in-class technologies to deliver the world’s best PVR experience. This is a key difference to the Astro Max.” |

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ May 28 2010, 11:04 PM) From that paragraph, it explains that Astro actually wanna to introduce 2 versions of HD decoder. Thanks..Now i understand.First version is our "proud" Byond.., it actually the standard version decoder that can receive HD as well as SD Channels. It can also be functioned as PVR with the firmware update and adding the external HDD (it was not confirm yet whether we can use any external HDD or astro supplied HDD, but from the trusted sources, it can only support WD AV HDD) . But the functions are limited. The great example is Byond can record the TV shows. But only what are you watching on that time. You can't record the one channel while watching other channel. And you actually stuck at that channels. It is because, Normal Byond only have one Tuner. Second version, yes, this is the "real" PVR. Don't know what Astro want to name it. But many forumers here always said it as Byond Max All this actually are not confirm yet, no official announcement from Astro until now. But I have read one article from the Star online, that Astro will launch the new PVR on 1st June 2010. I think, someone has posted the article here, maybe you can browse the previous pages. Astro Max if i not mistaken cost us RM900 to get it. Hurm, i wonder how much the new "Byond Max" decoder will cost.. |
