Ignore that bloke 'write simply'. He's a bit hot tempered to say the least. Does anyone know if there's a way to block responces from a certain username?

Anyway, back to astro tv. This FX HD channel, I find it a bit surprising that astro would bring a channel that has a lot of (as the government would put it) unsuitable content. Are they really going to censor tons out of every show, or will the channel be a special feed just for Asia with less sensitive programming?

Content for FX HD may be malaysianised, ours may be a Asian version NOT international edition. By the way its dissappointing to see we dont have any international edition of channels our is mostly Asian version. hmm.gif

Just been reading the previous posts about the new PVR STB. I may have misread it, but did it say I will need 2 cables running from the sat dish to my STB? I find that a bit strange. I don't believe the astro max needed to do that.

Also, what about if the user already has 2 cables from the sat dish? I have my HD STB and an SD one attached to it. I believe the dish only has 2 connections. Would this mean I'm unable to get the new PVR STB?

Good questions,
I don't know the answer but will find out for you. Give me a few days.
Thanks in advance. This will give us an idea on how we could use our existing external HDDs to work with B.yond.

QUOTE
Nah its all controlled by the conditional access system that controls your card.

The dual LNB is basically 2 recievers built into the casing of one thus allowing 2 outputs.
*

Okay. That makes sense. Hopefully the pricing of the PVR will be more affordable than Astro Max.

By the way, why the two USB ports? Is it just for another HDD extension for other media playback function (photos/music) or for a USB wireless receiver? If it's for the latter, then it would be a fantastic news. Even though there is a LAN port at the back, most subscribers either a) have their wifi routers somewhere else around the house or don't run a wifi router at all. Hopefully this means that users can set their Astro programming through their PCs/PDAs while they are not at home.

We couldn't agree with you more. In fact we are concerned about it and you will see massive changes to the site and the EPG very soon. In fact I'm personally working on improving the EPG.

Congratulations on the new kid wink.gif

And a whopper of an update.... I am looking forward to the PVR functionality.

Thank god i already have my WD Passport HDD... It's a charm!!... Meanwhile, if the PVR is affordable, i will consider to buy it.... I think the packaging inside (maybe) is the PVR, remote, HDMI and 2 connector LNB...

Added on May 30, 2010, 8:53 pmuuh... another suggestion...

i really like to watch my recorded programme in my pc... if u insist in DRM, just appoint a authorised media player to play the recorded content.. just like DRM mp3...

THe HDD must be a drive that meets our power consumtion white paper for the decoder and at the moment the only one that I'm aware of that does this is a WD HDD (I'm using a WD My Passport AV). Others suck up too much power and they will will not work. THe recording quality is broadcast quality, so HD is played back in HD.
........
Thanks for info.. thumbup.gif

BTW I have a few questions regarding HDD for PVR
1- What type of HDD file system support by decoder? FAT or EXT?
2- Maximum size of HDD support?
2- Is it recording file only playable on byond decoder only? or I can play it with my PC?

I'm really hoping it can support NTFS format ..... if FAT, don't know how to handle if recording filesize >4G ??

Byond running on Linux so its imposible to support NTFS. Maybe it using EXT because this file system dont have size limition.
Right now only bro Talljustine have the answer. smile.gif
