These are the indicative pricing that I was told today.
TH-P42X28 - RM2350 (5yr warranty) / RM2050 (2yr warranty) TH-P50X28 - RM3900 (5yr warranty)/ RM3600 (2yr warranty) TH-P50U28 + BD45 - RM4400 (intro price, limited units) (2yr warranty) / RM4700 (5yr warranty) [after intro units are gone RRP is RM5299 + BD45]. The list price for the BD45 is supposed to be RM800.
Pls don't PM me and ask where to get these. I was told that these were prices u can get. Check around the usual suspects. I believe u can knock off further RM50 - 200 depending on which one.
Both 50in units are in stock this weekend. I don't have pricing on the V series yet.

QUOTE(chewkl @ May 14 2010, 02:51 PM) Wow the 50U is so freaking cheap! Yeah, intro offer is a pretty good deal for anyone to get started with a BD player and a HDTV. However, I did not get to see and play around with a unit as they were being sent out today to the stores. I did get a view on a couple of sets that are just coming in (Sammy C650 plasma, LG plasma, Sammy 3D LED backlit, the Panny X28 series and the Sony LED backlit LCDs as well). I really like the features that the included in the Sammy plasma (10point greyscale and full 3D CMS!) , they are truly reference class in terms of calibration controls. BTW the Sammy 50C650 was priced at RM5K (this is not discounted, possible to knock off a little more) One thing to note though, most if not all the sets had better Anti Reflection Coatings compared to the X28!

QUOTE(idoblu @ May 14 2010, 03:49 PM) those "intro prices" sure cannot get.... I'm not sure if "sure cannot get", its just that its limited units. I say that becoz I helped someone get one at something lower than that. But as I cannot get the seller to commit how many more units he can provide at that price, it is better to say that its difficult to get. According to him, most sellers will be given some units at very good prices. So its up to u guys. One more note, the BD45 is actually a Profile 1.1 so I am really not sure how they expect to sell any. I believe that is why they are bundling it with the displays. Sorry, the LG plasma was last years model and it was not too good. The C650 is similar to the C6500 in the states. For me the most important aspect is the addition of the 10 point gamma/greyscale !

Well, if it's any consolation the initial reviews of the 7000 and 8000 units from AVS do not look that good. They are saying it is because of the ultra thin panels...
Not sure about the 6500 though...

for entry level 42" plasma tv, can you guys comment the below 3 models and which one is better in terms of pic quality and features? they are all about the same price.
panasonic p42x28k (sd card slot) samsung ps42c451 (usb plays lots of video formats, optical audio output) lg 42pj350r (usb support video but not rmbv file)
in terms of feature, i guess samsung is no 1 and panny looks nothing special...
comment pls.
