Well, if it's any consolation the initial reviews of the 7000 and 8000 units from AVS do not look that good. They are saying it is because of the ultra thin panels...

Not sure about the 6500 though...
*
But i thought the 8000 looks way better than 7000.
But atleast we know 6500 can be converted to 8000, minus the 3D of course.
Ok than, time to find anyone who selling 6500.

Initial impressions show that 8000 and 7000 are slightly worse than 2009 models, or at least that was what I gathered from AVSforum.

Actually you are right on that.
Im currently contemplating between 50V and C7000/8000/6500.
The floating black issues that I read in AVSF is quite worrying.

These are the indicative pricing that I was told today.

TH-P42X28 - RM2350 (5yr warranty) / RM2050 (2yr warranty)
TH-P50X28 - RM3900 (5yr warranty)/ RM3600 (2yr warranty)
TH-P50U28 + BD45 - RM4400 (intro price, limited units) (2yr warranty) / RM4700 (5yr warranty) [after intro units are gone RRP is RM5299 + BD45]. The list price for the BD45 is supposed to be RM800.

Pls don't PM me and ask where to get these. I was told that these were prices u can get. Check around the usual suspects. I believe u can knock off further RM50 - 200 depending on which one.

Both 50in units are in stock this weekend. I don't have pricing on the V series yet.

anfieldude,

What's the difference between P50U28 and P50U20? The Star has a one page advert from Panasonic for P50U20K for RM5499 + BD45 + HDMI cable + RM199 topup for a Lumix F2 digital camera.

I think it may be too early to make any recommendation. Our forum experts had not had a chance to preview them yet as the models are just starting to be available.

So, trust your own eyes for the moment.

At Homedec, price was RM4999 with BD player + HDMI cable + digital photo frame

Forumer iamsobloodysick offered RM4799 (should come with same freebies but not sure).
