Thanks terranova.
Noted on the IR.
How can we then avoid / minimise BI ?
Stupid question from me. By snow-wash, you mean the black and white dots one gets when on a blank channel ?
Thanks.
Just keep an eye on IR and remove them as quickly as possible once you've detected it. Run a white background slide and you should be able to see any obvious IR.
Yes, snow wash is as you've described. Like this:

Sifu, after much 'research', planning to get either 50u or 50v, depending on the price. I will use it mostly for PS3 gaming. I don't play long hours of games unless on weekends. Is it recommended to get plasma for gaming? Tq in advance.
I spend a fair bit of time console gaming on my V20. When I was contemplating getting a plasma vs lcd/led, it was a toss-up between the V20 plasma and a Series 6/7 Samsung lcd. Reputable reviews on the internet indicated that the Sammy lcds suffered from "input lag" (measured in micro-seconds, the lag in button presses on the controller and the reaction on the screen). It was noted that in "time-sensitive" games like FPS, there was a noticeable difference to affect the overall gaming experience. the Vieras (and plasmas in general) did not suffer from such input lag. the input lag on the sammy was attributable to the intense background processing of the video from current trend features like Motion Plus, etc. that's why for such lcds, there is a Game mode feature which shuts down all the background processing to minimise the input lag, at the expense of picture quality obviously (after all, it's just a video game and PQ becomes secondary, some proponents may argue).
i ws unable to prove this myself short of lugging my console to the tv retailer and doing my own A vs B test.

so i didnt want to take the risk and ended up settling for the Viera since gaming takes up a fair bit of my tv usage.
as sifu anfieldude suggested, if you do indeed go the plasma route, just take the necessary precautions to avoid burn-ins and image retention.

Anfieldude, just got a copy of Pixel Protector - thought I can run the screen washes a couple of times for the X10..just noticed mickey mouse ears still there (but is less visible). Am I doing it right?
I am also running the snow wash using pixelprotector but find it not very effective at removing my IR. ran it for about 3 hrs but the IR (station logo) is pretty stubborn. will put in more hours and see how it goes.
