QUOTE(DarkSun @ Feb 8 2011, 02:34 PM) Does any one can update on the plasma tv price here? eg. VIERA TH-P50V20K , VIERA TH-P42V20K (non 3D) VIERA TH-P50VT20K (TV with standard spec) I am a big fan of V series, think of getting a 50" plasma Will very much appreciated the reply. Get it! Loving it even before calibrating, and on the 42 inch.

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Feb 8 2011, 12:26 PM) Full HD only important if you have big screen or viewing distance is short. 42" is not exactly very big screen. And I think if you watch say.....10 feet away, you wouldn't see the difference. OIC. My viewing distance is about 7-9 feet. I guess I'd still be able to experience good quality contents especially B.yond

try to have personal experience on 42' Plasma V Series P42V20K model, touch the panel and it's hotter than other series of Panasonic plasma model. Since i can feel hot at the panel, imagine if you bought this TV and placed at room without air-condition. Is that will spoilt the component easily?
As the common issue burn mark, is that cover by warranty?

Furthermore, TH-L42S20K should be available elsewhere since last year.

QUOTE(audiocool @ Feb 9 2011, 01:01 PM) There is a ceiling fan but it wont serve better than air con. It works fine with just the ceiling fan. My family runs the V20 for 15-18 hours a day and we have been using it like that for the last 8 months since V20 availability in May2010 without any air-cond. BTW, are you saying that you will install and run an air-cond in the room just so that your plasma TV can last longer? Hehe ... wouldn't it be better to justify the air-cond on the comfort of your family?

By then and with prices of Plasma dropping like flies, it will probably allows you to buy a brand new V series 65" Plasma in Year 2016

Don't worry too much about it. There has been many popular Panny plasma models for years and if they don't last in hot weather, they won't be giving 2+1 years warranty that easily.

Still in the low setting mode for my V20K for the 1st 200 hrs. So far, impressed with the TV.
Like to confirm that after the first 200 hrs at low settings, I can then go for the higher settings without burning images onto the screen. Right ?
P/S Just to share a learning here. After I set up my new TV onto ASTRO, noted that I got frequent reception interruptions, thinking it was either bad weather or a mouse has "eaten" part of the antenna cable. Neither one. Cause of the problem was the palm tree I have next to the receiver was getting in the way. Wife noted that and remove the branch. Now, no more interruptions and happy with the image quality. Enjoying watching movies etc now on the bigger screen !

Many on this forum use the term "burn-in" to mean the same thing as "image retention". that is incorrect. burn-ins are more permanent. I believe you meant "image retention" (IR) in your question above. Having cleared that up, no, passing the 200hrs mark does not guarantee you will not get any IR, irrespective of what your settings are. Your panel can still suffer from IR even though you have phased it in past the 200 hour mark. best practice is to always be conscious of not leaving any static images on the screen for prolonged periods of time, esp tv station logos. however, when you do notice any IR, do a screen wash (snow wash) as soon as possible and the problem should disappear fairly quickly. Thanks terranova. Noted on the IR. How can we then avoid / minimise BI ? Stupid question from me. By snow-wash, you mean the black and white dots one gets when on a blank channel ? Thanks.
