Astro byond software update v1.1, 4:3 channels on 16:9 screens

Protest because they simply doesn't include the "stretch" option, why give one option and take one back.
And for those who really asking why some people want to have "stretch" option when viewing SD channel rather than pillarbox, well...it seems that not all of us have large tv, for smaller screen, small pillarbox doesn't hurt them. Just imagine half a foot pillarbox either side of your screen.... don't ask why.

Chinese movie package is a good 20 bucks more or less.. pillar/box and zoom option have rendered it useless... While i am beginning to be ok with using pillar box for some channels.. its not a full blown solution for all channels. IT LOOKS REALLY REALLY BAD on celestial movies and animal planet. However.. not to fully flame astro.. (i think i did that already on the phone)... I will probably maintain my pillar box settings in future even if the stretch is restored, & use stretch only on the channels i'm complaining on. |

For you all kept arguing about pillarbox and strecth mode. mine are worse...suddenly today all my HD chanell kept popping this banner said "copy protection failed". What's this..FAIL ASTRO FAIL...EPIC FAIL huhu. I can't get rid this banner..anybody know how?  |

Turn the TV off, turn the decoder off, pull the HDMI cable out and put it back in again and it should fix it.

We wish to take this opportunity to clarify that Astro B.yond has recently introduced the aspect ratio switch as part of a process change to enhance customers’ viewing experience on high definition television. Today, all flat panel/high definition televisions and HD content is transmitted on 16:9 aspect ratio which offers full screen viewing. On the other hand, SD channels are still broadcasted on 4:3 aspect ratio. This means that the standard definition channels images viewed on a flat panel television/high definition television will be pillar-boxed. Some customers may stretch the 4:3 aspect ratio images to fill up the screen but this may distort the images.
To ensure that customers have the best possible viewing experience of standard definition channels on High Definition TV and Astro B.yond, all images broadcasted will be in the correct native ratio for SD channels and HD channels respectively. Customers who prefer to view the SD channels in full screen can do so by pressing the Zoom button which is positioned between the blue and info buttons. We regret any inconvenience caused.
Please note that you may change your preferred viewing setting via the menu as follows. Home > Settings > Installation Settings > key in 0000 (default) > press ok > change setting either ‘Zoom” or “Pillar box’.
Should you have any other enquiries, kindly contact our Contact Centre at 1300-82-3838 which is operational from 8.00 am to 12.00 midnight daily or email to wecare@astro.com.my.

A rep from astro called me again at about 3pm... He said he hasn't gotten an update yet because they are still discussing but hopefully they will get some news by tomorrow morning =.= ..
