QUOTE(aressandro10 @ Mar 11 2010, 04:22 PM) if the choice is either stretch or zoom, i will just bring out my old 29" CRT from the store and use that to watch SD channels. to think about it the other way around, maybe ASTRO dont have a choice in this matter. Maybe its a precondition in HD bussiness that producers have the right for their product to be shown in the way they originally produced....
Yeah u maybe right about HD channel. But I think we here discuss about SD channels. Stretch or zoom option right now dont give any problem to HD channels. Added on March 11, 2010, 4:38 pmQUOTE(SiriuslyCold @ Mar 11 2010, 02:01 PM) I think the point we're trying to make is that we want the option to be available, whether we're purists and ok with black bars, whether we're ok with fatter Rooney or even if we're ok with headless - and defeeted - chickens Yeah ur right. Just give us all the option and we decide. This post has been edited by minimize: Mar 11 2010, 04:38 PM

QUOTE(shakiraa @ Mar 11 2010, 11:00 PM) lucky me i din switch of my beyond so still not updated yet. better make sure it's not in standby mode Someone say their decoder still update automatically although it not switch to standby mode. Maybe it matter of time. Its astro style to push their customer to follow their scrap rule.

QUOTE(Hamas @ Mar 14 2010, 02:12 AM) since you are not billed for byond yet so dont be sad if no stretch ok? Maybe u miss understand here. Actually we are here discuss about SD/Non-HD channel on byond and that what we paid every month. If u think we are not billed for byond than u are totally wrong. Yes i know we not paying anything yet for HD channel, that why we not comment anything about HD here. We disscuss about stretch mode that we want back because it has be taking off by astro. Stretch mode is only affect on SD/Non-HD channel. Hope u clearly understand what happen here.

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Mar 14 2010, 09:12 PM) I still don't understand what is the problem with B.Yond. There should be a stretch mode because SD will look weird. SD is not meant to be watched in stretched mode. I think you all complain wrongly. Astro is showing you guys how to watch SD in correct way. Hope you all understand. Yeah maybe ur right. But u should know not all people are same. Each one of us has own perspective. Some like black and some like white. Same here as paying astro subcriber, i think we have right to choose our convience way to watch as long as we happy with that. So I think look weird it not a issue to here. Like me, sometime I switch to pillar box when I not happy with the picture and mostly I convience watch in stretch mode. If astro want us strictly to watch the correct way I think they should remove zoom option at the first place. No more option to select aspect ratio right?

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Mar 14 2010, 10:41 PM) I'm not sure how convenience is convenience. Watching astro is like praying to me. It's very sacred things. Everything must be done rite. That is, the aspect ratio must be correct and the sound must be correct. I don't mind setup before watching. So that is convenience way to you. But not to others. I think not fair to force someone to choose something (pillar box, zoom, stretch) they not happy/convenience to watched.

QUOTE(aressandro10 @ Mar 18 2010, 04:33 PM) pillar and stretch pretty much cover everyone... by the way, what is open caption and close caption? Open-captioning Similar to subtitling, open captions are always visible; they are "burned" onto the videotape and no decoder or a built-in TV decoder chip is needed to view them. They are usually white letters with a black rim or drop shadow. A wide variety of fonts is available for open-captioning, allowing the use of upper- and lower-case letters with descenders that drop below the baseline. The options for caption placement are great, permitting location anywhere on the screen. Closed-captioning Closed captions are not normally visible; a decoder or television with a decoder chip is necessary to view them. They are generally white capital letters encased in a black box. However, newer technology will soon allow color text and color background, as well as latitude in the type of fonts that can be used and where captions can appear. Hope thats clear..
