A little hesitate if I should wait for 1185.

Are the functions of 1185 and 1283 same?

If you think 1283 can do everything 1185 does, then please count me in for one unit 1283.....

1.) first price very expensive. might release on April month.
2.) SDK same. but 1185/1055 cpu is 500mhz. and 1185 have giga lan.

Will 1185 capable recording to mpeg-4 format via video in?
1283 only mpeg-2, not interesting.

Updated latest firmware and try "Customize Live TV" but all channels stated "Failed to connect to server.... ".

Yangxi, getting a model of 1055 with internal 3.5" into your product line up make sense. This line up will most likely be popular to family with auntie/uncles who are not so techies. Having another piece of external hdd with external power just make things more clutter and messy.

Hope you give this some thoughts.

Anyone experience a no sound problem after file copy? I have to off and then on again the hdpro player to get back sound.

Sorry, some noob question here.
pass-thru means i still need another AVamp that can decode those trueHD?
If i am using the optical out from the player, do i still need an AVamp that can decode those trueHD sound stream, or any receiver/AVamp with optical in already can play those truHD sound(means already decode by the player)?

1) To play DD, DTS, TrueHD, DTS-MA etc, you'll need a AV Receiver that can drive the number of speakers required and can decode the audio codec. No point playing TrueHD on a 2 speaker TV because it will be exactly the same as stereo.

2) To play TrueHD or DTS-MA, the connection must be HDMI to your AVR. Optical/SPDIF max only allows DD and DTS.
