I just checked the scaling of the box vs the scaling of the Kuro. I believe the scaling of the Kuro is better by quite a bit. The aspect ratio is better preserved (compared to the linear stretching of the box) with the Kuro's progressive scaling.

I guess you must be using the Wide1 option where it stretches progressively towards the sides.

I believe so. I use the Auto Wide Zoom, but Wide 1 shd be the one as it is used for HD signals.

nods, definitely scaling by kuro produces better results. oh btw, tested your astro setting.

for HD content, excellent result indeed. better than all the avs forum setting that i ve tried. deeper black depth, and the color tone is nice smile.gif

thumbs up, thanks bro.

From the picture, looks like a 507XG, due to the hint of silver at the back. But I may be wrong wink.gif

So far this is what I've noticed:

Bangsar McDonalds : 2 Pioneer 427XG

Pusat Bandar Damansara: At least 1 Kuro 508XG

netken,

If there are physically 3 HDMI ports (like the 428XG) all 3 ports can be used. U need to enable it in the home menu.

The Ms are just monitors with no tuners and only 2 HDMI inputs. The As have an external tuner and have more inputs.

The M is supposed to calibrate better...however, I have no proof of that.

The A in Asian Region does not have the Pure mode whereas the M does.

Here's a a pretty good explanation on the difference between A & M.

Do click on the 'comparion' chart to get a better idea biggrin.gif

Man, it appears that CNet Asia don't run spell checks before posting doh.gif

Pioneer Blu-Ray Players Firmware Upgrade!!!

FYI Folks, the latest firmware is available for these units:

BDP-51FD
BDP-320
BDP-120
etc.

Check the link below:

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Pro...re+Updates.Kuro

This is a US link. Things are really slow in Bolehland. Assuming they are both Region A players the firmware should be fine.

Do take some time to read the support posting or call the local hotline 1300-882-859 for additional details cool2.gif

Dear All,

I purchased Pioneer Kuro KRP-500A on the 23 Dec 2009 with a 5 years warranty as claimed in their promotion advertisement. I sent in my warranty card about a week after the purchased and I received an extended warranty card for 5 years for only the KRP-500 P and not the receiver unit KRP-M01.

I ‘m writing in a protest letter to Pioneer Malaysia, did U get your warranty for 5years on P& M or just the P? I think it will help if more Kuro kakis write to them …

Regards,

formalin

Good question. I would believe the warranty covers all components that comes with the KRP500A including KRP-M01 and not forgetting KRP-S03. But that's just me hmm.gif

Comments, anyone?
