Wow... seems like more people are into this hobby~~ biggrin.gif
Great... always can find this thread on the 1st page..

Btw, ESKY is a great choice for coax.... easy to fly, easy availability of parts...
AND... More upgrades available too..

Will browse around real soon.

I am slightly disappointed with my helicopter. Claimed to have gyro stabilizer but it's drifting over the sides (usually towards its own right) and back/forward sometimes (random). My 3ch remote trim function is only for rotating left and right, which could not be used to stabilize the helicopter.

I also took a step to dismantle the helicopter, hoping to find the motor proportional dial to match both motor speed but no trim pots on the PCB circuit. Neither I found any gyro-like device or settings.

u can see all the wires from motor and servos (the thing that moves the linkages) going to this little small rectangular thing
its called a 4 in 1 or 3 in 1 ... its a receiver and gyro and mixer
u can look for pots (dial thingies) and try to turn it slightly to see if the 2 motors rotate in synchro better
that is the thing that determines how well the heli performs at that level
ESKY lamas are similar (most lamas actually .. hehehehe)

when u go up another level .. all this becomes separated (just like home theatre with mix and match amps speakers etc etc)
so u can purchase separate gyros servos receivers etc etc ..

Any chance that a helicopter does not have pots for adjustment? Because I did open up mine and found no pot to turn.

i think ALIGN do not make 4 channel helis laa ... 6 channels easily available and more fun to fly .. hehehe
but of coz oso more costly and easier to crash laa

esky lamas could be gotten for as low as rm170 i think

yeah .. flying a coax is nothing like flying a single rotor other than learning orientations perhaps

a RTF will get u started .. but in the long term a good radio and well design heli will take u much further .. at a much higher price la of coz .. hahahaha

btw .. my dx7 will COD this evening .. buyer might want additional rx's so i dunno if there will be any left for sale .. hahahaha

Basically not much different.... just like car company, after facelift another version.... most important is the availability of spare parts, new model will tend to have more spare parts than the older 1..

In your opinion, do you think that E-Sky Lama v3/4 is a well design helicopter that serves for a long term?
The Esky Lama v3 looks better for me but v4 fuselage looks more reliable.
I've been flying everyday, so I'm really into the idea of getting a good helicopter.

Thanks for the mymegastore link. Their Esky lama is very cheap.

LAMA motors are brushed motors ... they do not last as long as u would like
to convert them to brushless will prolly cost more than the heli set itself
it is good as a intro to heli .. thats it .. most ppl would outgrow it in a month or less ... but the good thing is it can teach u about orientations and nothing else .. hahahaha

For those Lama V4, are the gyro replaceable with upgraded head lock gyro etc? Or are those 4-in-1 circuit that cannot be modified?

Added on February 24, 2010, 7:48 pmBig Lama is also similar to Lama V4 but just bigger? Also having gyro right?

note that there are differences in transmitter too. a 2.4Ghz is more expensive. so a LAMA v4 with a 2.4Ghz tx/rx is more expensive than a standard FM LAMA. i'd say go for a LAMA v4. it's much more easier to find parts for it. plus, the v3 looks really lame laugh.gif .

the LAMA fuselage is made of soft plastic, it'll crack quite easily.
