Where do you guys normally purchase your helicopter and its parts? Any reliable well known places?

If a helicopter does not have gyro (or malfunction), what are the characteristics apparent to the user? Spinning body?

yaw and drift on its own when the gyro is no longer good
if gyro totally dead then the heli will prolly spin uncontrollably ..

most of the shops only carry psares for ESKY coaxials .. other coaxials very unlikely to be able to find spares unless u use parts that are compatible with esky

Then I'll make sure the next helicopter I buy is an E-Sky. That is after I master flying my current inexpensive helicopter.

Where is the shop you guys go for reasonable-priced E-Sky?

This hobby is poisonous. I'm already eyeing for something like Honey Bee.

IMHO, get Align instead. consider cheap, easy to get spare parts and better built quality than esky.

I am open to all brands. most importantly must have spare parts and support available easily. how much should I be expecting to pay for a 4 ch helicopter from align? where or who can I buy it from?

Added on February 23, 2010, 12:06 amhow much are those esky lama?

i think ALIGN do not make 4 channel helis laa ... 6 channels easily available and more fun to fly .. hehehe
but of coz oso more costly and easier to crash laa

esky lamas could be gotten for as low as rm170 i think

Oh, so Align is actually catered for more professional users and I should expect them far beyond RM500?

If I had known that E-Sky Lama cost about RM200 or less, I definitely would have gotten it. Ish.. Now I only got a 3 ch helicopter.

Surprisingly the E-Sky Lama has no tail rotor. laugh.gif

coaxials do not need tail rotor ..
in fact the ones with the tail rotor more headache coz got additional motor to die ..

the esky lama is 4 channel .. meaning u have control in ALL directions

if you check my post a few pages back, you'll know why esky is the better option. thumbup.gif although their LAMA design is not that great, but the ability to change fuselage between the LAMA v4, dauphin and comanche is just too great to past. buy one heli, buy some extra parts and voila! your heli can change appearance anytime you want. laugh.gif plus, it's easy to disassemble.

but won't a continuous 30mins flight kill the motors? on both my colco and esky, after about 5 mins of continuous flight, the motors will be burning hot. i usually let it cool down before swapping batteries.

yes .. BRUSHED motors will die after short while
whether u let it cool down or not .. its the nature of the motor
thats why long term players go for brushless setup .. but totally not worth it for lama coz the brushless setup prolly cost more than the lama already .. hahahahaahaa

30mins >>>> multiple batteries laaaa

Lol. I was just curious because my coaxial has tail rotor.

I'll get an E-Sky Lama after I can fly my helicopter properly. I don't want to crash a new helicopter/

but is it really possible to fly a LAMA for 30mins continuously(upgrade and extra batteries included-assuming not brushless) without shortening the motor life? not possible, right?

the controls will prolly be abit different from what u have on your 3 channel
your 3 channel radio prolly have throttle on the left and only goes up down and the right stick goes in all direction ??
the 4 channel has both stick being able to go in all directions ..

dude, don't have to be so cocky la. i get what you mean, all i'm saying is, it's not really advisable to fly for 30mins continuously on any type of motors because it'll shorten the motors' life span. it's the same thing as ur "not eating all 3 meals in at the same time" .

Wow... seems like more people are into this hobby~~ biggrin.gif
Great... always can find this thread on the 1st page..

Btw, ESKY is a great choice for coax.... easy to fly, easy availability of parts...
AND... More upgrades available too..
