Sorry If I haven't read rest of the thread. (Imagine the time to browse all 100+ pages tongue.gif )

I have two decoders, using one dish, that are most likely in separate accounts as the downstairs Astro has no Movie channels while the unit upstairs has it subscribed. The cables are embedded into the wall and thicker than the one in my old house. The splitter thing is downstairs.

Will I get Byond for both televisions or either one will have to use SD (downstairs is HD ready, no HDMI sad.gif upstairs is a more canggih Samsung Full HD TV with 4 HDMI). I think I will get the dish with the two LNB but as the cables are in the wall... I don't know.

I tried running Beyond on SD tele and FULL HD LCD simultaneously. And it worked.

I guess it should work for you as well..

OFF TOPIC discussion...

QUOTE(Arlington @ Mar 28 2010, 08:22 PM)
When Astro says they need to buy HD cameras etc... they're not talking about buying the cheap H.264 codec cameras, like Ex3, P2 or RED,
I don't know about the other two but REDcode is not H.264. It's a form of wavelet codec though it is lossy.

QUOTE
they're talking about buying broadcast level CineAlta HDCam cameras such as those used to film the new Star Wars.

It's older technology, but the codecs are truly lossless...
*
Buying CineAltas for studio shoots is a rather waste of money but it's their money. If they are buying a bunch of them for feature shoots, then I understand. But then again, Japanese studios have been using HD cameras including HDCAMs, tweaked specifically by the OEM, to shoot their movies as a cheaper alternative than 35mm, for example the Death Note trilogy.

So the Dual-LNB connects directly to both decoders and not through a splitter? Guess have to rewire...

If the ad only shown in Discovery Channel Channel's e.g. Discovery, Animal Planet, Turbo, H&H, Travel & Living... Then it is a false alarm. Refer to earlier post. If is true...

I wish there was some international standard for this like they had for when CDs first started coming out.  Remember they use to say A / A / D or some other derivation.

QUOTE(TallJustin @ Mar 28 2010, 01:21 PM)
I'm not talking from Astro's perspective here, I have no idea why it was pulled but my thoughts are more that the channel sucked. Content was old, I saw programmes on there that were on air in the UK 10 years ago when I lived there. None of the new shows were less then a year old & all the serial programmes are freely avaiable in pirate DVD shops here, BBC don't understand Asian TV markets. I got to a point where I paid for a VPN and watched the BBCiPlayer website.
*
What about those that lived here in Malaysia and has no chance to go to the UK? Iirc the last time Red Dwarf aired here in Malaysia on Metrovision (now 8TV) over 10 years ago, they shoddily skipped episodes and did not pause the tape playback when showing ads, resulting in glaring missing scenes when the show returns from a commercial. And oh, btw, BBCE's Dr. Who is only a few months old (last time I tuned in I got the one with David Tennant, the 10th Doctor), which considering that no Malaysian TV station has ever broadcasted that excellent show (whether they did in the 80s is beyond my knowledge, I was still very young then, but I have no recollection of ever seeing that show from birth up until BBCE was brought in, only hearing about it on the Internet and in newspapers and magazines), is considered cutting edge.

As for a VPN, I tried. Doesn't really work, video was choppy and pauses too often.

Confirmed Astro error. The ad was for a new Discovery HD channel and was targeted for India.

Great. Just, great. Now there are two Discovery HD channels that we don't have, in addition to the bunch of other Nat Geo HD channels and Nat Geo specialty channels.
