Try going to www.whereis.com. You might be able to find some place there. Well, you can also call your university directly.

I would suggest you apply for international house in UNSW. Probably the best place to stay IMO where you can stay with other international students from other countries and there are a lot of activities that you can participate in. Do ensure that you apply early, as space is limited. Its hostel kinda style of accommodation

UNSW is located in Kingsford / Randwick if you have not known about it yet. The locations that will be convenient for you in terms of distance will be suburbs of Kingsford, Kensington, Randwick.... or about 5 - 10 mins bus away, Maroubra Junction / Coogee. Therefore if you like you can search the areas as mentioned. There are a lot of shared accommodation and other students renting out rooms to others. My personal take will be Maroubra Junction / Randwick as supermarkets and eatery are important... If you wanna check out accommodations to rent, try visiting www.domain.com.au or www.realestate.com.au and use the rent function to do your searches

Will you be coming alone or with friends to share accommodation? IH will be the first choice for me if i am alone but if you are sharing with friends its probably better to get an accommodation in an apartment in the mentioned suburbs

I have some discussion on this matter here:
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry31114619

It seems to be a recurring question, the Brisbane vs Adelaide issue. Maybe I should compile something for the front page?
