am temporarily staying at a friends place. He's on iprimus for internet. according to him the 'Big Kahuna' plan has the cheapest rate out there at abt $90 for 200GB (40 peak + 160 OP). been using his internet for a whole week.

no issues so far and loving it. maybe coz its a huge leap from malaysia's crappy screamyx?

IDP could do your visa for you for a fee of rm80. else you can do it yourself. takes 30mins to fill out forms. i got my visa within 5 working days.

http://www.immi.gov.au/students/
its all there. just requires a little reading. as for the medical. they have a list of clinics you can go to.

where are you staying btw?

in that case arton,

you can do your medical at Menara Affin. Its right next to the australian embassy, on the 15th floor (or wassit 13th? or 11th?) with payment of rm120 you're medical will be done within an hour, provided its not crowded. They'll even send the results to the australian immigration online.

a few of my friends did their medical at Kumpulan Medic ss15 Sbg jaya. they hadta pay rm115 + rm80 xray (to be done at sjmc before approaching the clinic)

I dont know how it is bad and how it could have been better, despite being here for only a month. But i've been travelling from geelong to melb city every weekend since and at $12.80 for a whole day return ticket i think its fairly convinient. (if you dont convert)

anyway, where were you guys during the hail in Melb? it was bad!

We were on our way to the bbq gathering and we got stuck on La Trobe between Flagstaff Gardens and Elizabeth St.

First hail exp ever.

i was in that dilemma too, before deciding to come to Geelong. But i to me its more about the exposure and experience rather than qualifications.

Not sure about adelaide, but studying here is more relaxed. i have 4 classes a week, each class + tutorial is abt 3-4 hrs. FTW!

Some of my chinese friends got a 'f**king asian' and one of them had eggs thrown at her. Talk about being racist.

I'm moving to a new house (after squatting abt 3 mths, house hunting is a b**ch). Thus i need to apply for a new internet service. My friend is paying 49.90 on iprimus + 27.23 on phone rental.

I searched online and they have such thing as the Naked DSL where i dont have to pay for a phone rental (which no one even use). But in order to check the Naked DSL availability i need to provide a phone number. Does anyone have any sense of whats going on? and which provider is best to go for?

I'm in Geelong West, VIC.

Hi, i am just wondering whether when we apply for student visa, do we need to submit any financial documents or evidence of funds? I had attached the factsheet regarding this matter as a reference. Please advise.

Evidence of Funds

I dont think you need to provide the evidence of funds. U just need the Certificate of Enrollment (COE) which you would receive after paying for the first semester, for VISA.

Added on May 18, 2010, 9:02 amIn response to the comment on racism by haya, I'm not saying Australia is a racist country, don't get me wrong. In fact the people here can be quite friendly. Upon moving to a new house, i got donuts in my front porch saying 'Welcome to our neighborhood'.

I'm just sharing the experience.

utopian86,

i would suggest going to the clinic at Menara Ambank. They could do the checkup (including xray) and email it straight to the Australian Embassy. Other places (i asked Kumpulan Medic in Subang) would have the results posted, which could take sometime.

And i think i only paid rm110 including xray. i'm not quite sure of the exact amount but i'm very sure its not more than Rm150

@onejme I've had a -$1213.33 on my account once because i forgot to transfer from my online saver to my access account once on ANZ.

I found out 2 days later and transferred the money. However, the payment was rejected. any amount of money deducted was returned with a DISHONOUR FEE of $6.00 deducted from my account.

according to a friend who consulted the ANZ ppl, they would charge a fee of $6.00 for every -$50.00. I'm not quite sure how it works, but thank god i wasnt charged $6 for every $50 then.

Take a chill pill KVReninem. haya has every right to read whatever is posted on a PUBLIC page.

but i dont think theres a problem with your english tho. for most of us English is just not our first language.

anyways, i read someone asking for room rates near RMIT in the CBD. A friend of mine stays in a 2 bedroom apartment on La Trobe St. for AUD400. I guess thats within your budget if split 3 ways.

I give credit to those who doesn't have a good English but aren't afraid to ask.

back to the question, Last Name first or First Name first? That's something I'd wanna know aswell.
