Did you get an error saying "Copy Protection Failed" over a blank screen, or just a pure black screen? If latter most likely your TV not compatible with 1080i res. Try 720p. Because if HDCP fail got error message over a black screen.
It's a known problem. People who complained to Astro was told to contact HBO directly. So do that.

Mine just blank screen without any message. So if it is not HDCP issue, what else could it be? It works with PS3 and AC Ryan Playon HD over HDMI without issue.

This kind of problem really drive you nut, becos you don't know for sure who to blame. Is there any other way to test whether it is the HDCP issue? Anybody know which bluray title is HDCP protected, so that I can try it on my TV?

You are watching the correct TV input channel?
It's not the same as the component channel

Maybe your TV set is 720p only? Maybe it cannot support 1080i?

Another possibility is TV cannot support 50Hz signal in HD. If that's the case, you can join the club of people who have TVs that cannot support 50Hz signal. Only option for testing? Get a PAL PS3 or Region B BD player from somewhere and try to see if TV can recognize. Thing is up until now, everything in Malaysia uses 60Hz HD (i.e. anything that derived from NTSC system, like Asian PS3 and Region A BD players). Astro is probably the first to introduce 50Hz HD output in the country.

No wonder they offer RM20 for the HD packages.
That comes up to RM4 per channel. But right now the RM20 won't be charged until April.

QUOTE
As usual price will go up once they reach xxx number of subscribers.

By the time they get xxx number of subscribers, those subscribers will demand more HD channels. Naturally more HD channels mean more cost.

Do you expect Astro should provide the HD channels for free? If and when RTM and others broadcast in HD, you can have those channels for free.

QUOTE(tks203 @ Jan 10 2010, 12:21 AM)
The PS3 only has HDMI and play 1080i on my TV (HD ready 1366 x 768) without any problem. My TV claimed to have HDCP. Waiting for Panasonic Tech to call me.

You can use this component cable to get 1080i using your PS3. It's a PS2/PS3 component cable.

See if your TV has any input default. It could be that the HDMI port you used for B.yond is the same port for the PS3.

I suggest that Astro temporarily stop accepting new applications to make sure earlier applications can be processed faster. Is unfair if someone rite now register and installed only 3 days later... And also make sure all applicants get what astro had promised... An classic example is the lack of dish.. why dish is short on supply while the decoder is abundant? They should be shipped in pairs to make sure subscriber can get what astro promised...

Added on January 10, 2010, 1:13 amOn HBO HD listing what is actually meaning of '(S) <movie>'?

Considering that almost all of these channels don't exist in HD I can't see how Astro will make your wish come true?

RTM would have to have the equipment to handle everything in HD first before you could ask Astro to include them in HD.

MTV's HD is actually MHD which stands for MTV HD. Mostly all music videos all the time, I believe. Their "reality shows" are not shot in HD from what I understand so that's why the content is music videos. However, most of the music videos are not in HD either but upconverted. But that may be MHD before the US stopped OTA in SD. It is a waste that most of the music videos that were shot on film were never mastered in HD.

Forget Cartoon Network HD. CN sister channel Boomerang also never bring in, want main channel HD oredi. Cartoon Network should just rename to "Ben 10 and mind-effing cartoons channel". Since they show Ben 10 like 10 times a day. So frequent that I fed up of Ben 10 already (doesn't help that Ben 10 show format doesn't click with my preferred cartoon show format either). If not showing Ben 10 then it's showing weird stuff. That I couldn't be bothered with because it doesn't make sense. I want to see Boomerang on Astro's channel list first before they even attempt "Ben 10 HD" channel.

As for Disney HD, well, so far only available in US. No Asia feed yet.

I do want Discovery HD tho. Mythbusters in HD = win!
