Just installed Astro HD today. Problem with HDMI connection to Panasonic Plasma, cannot get picture when selecting 720P or 1080i. 576P does display picture but distorted.

The same plasma connecting to PS3 and ACRyan Media player with HDMI without any problem. The installer can't offer any help.

Anyone of you having such problem?

Some of you posted to use Component Video for HD. I tried but it does not allow selecting "High Definition" in TV setting. Only "Standard Definition" is shown.

Please help.

Thanks

They didn't get con, they just didn't know any better.

It has already been said that right now only 5 channels are available in HD (HBO HD, Natgeo HD, History HD, Supersport HD, and coming soon ESPN HD), and that is if you have movie/documentary/sports package.

People need to learn to read the FAQ before getting Byond. doh.gif

Astro is being difficult. So do this. Cancel B.yond and get the second decoder installed. Then within 1 minute of activation, call Astro IN FRONT OF THE INSTALLER and ask for B.yond. I'm sure the installer will feel the love.

What's the resolution setting on your PS3? If it's 720p or 1080i, then what you could do is swap the PS3's HDMI cable to B.yond - DO NOT CHANGE THE HDMI INPUT on the TV. See if that works. If it works at 720p/1080i, no problem. If it doesn't work, that means the HDMI port on B.yond is faulty OR the HD output hasn't been enabled yet; if it's the latter, you need to call Astro CS to enable HDMI output.

You can check the HDMI port is enable or not in the software version page.

Another Survey in the Making: 720p or 1080i?

for me: 720p.

I feel pictures not so jumpy. I felt a bit dizzy watching 1080i esp football. Maybe its my tv. do not have 100hz or true motion or those gimmicks.

what you all think?

I think 720p can produce better framerates so maybe that is why it feels less jumpy?

guy can ask which channel have HD version ???
cause i think my parent at home town kena con by astro installer lia .....
My parent only have the chinese package, not even HBO, NG and bla bla ..... they call my father and ask him to install this HD device and best, they done it in one day ....
*
No, they're right. As long as your parents dun have Learning, Movies or Sports package they won't get any HD. Although, I thoght Astro currently giving free trials for all HD subscribers? Call Astro and ask. I'm only subscribed to Learning package, but I can also get HBO HD and ASSP HD, and according to installer Astro will only cut off those packages when they start charging in April.

My TV max 1080i, but will downscale the signal to 1366x768. For now tho, I'm not using HD. But the fact that at least the aspect ratio of the HD channels is correct and matches my TV screen is good enough for me. thumbup.gif

i feel that the 1080i needs to be de-interlaced, and the process creates the 'jumpiness'.

expert opinions??

its not because of my sharp eyes. you are using Plasma, I'm using LCD. yours is better at moving images. LCD not so good. prefers progressive scan.

ok ok, need to modify survey

720p or 1080i on LCD or Plasma.

for the past 1 week, I've set 1080i default but I've just reset it to 576p now. I feel the picture is good on those SD programme with this setting and switch to 1080i whenever I watch HD programme.

Maybe u can send updates and corrections about Measat 3/3A to webmaster@lyngsat.comthumbup.gif
Wrong info make people really confused.  rclxub.gif
*
I have looked in to this and the Lyngsat site is showing the C-Band contribution feeds, not the Ku-Band Astro feeds.

The C-Band feeds are used to supply content to other broadcasters in Asia. It looks like Measat's C-Band transponders are a mix of HD and SD.

Astros Ku-Band transmissions are listed only partially as "Astro".

This is what is confusing us!

Guys, how does the PQ of non-HD channels look like with the new decoder?

Better? Worse? or Same?
