QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ Jan 4 2010, 09:49 AM) yup...it works... and if u watch SD channels using component, it is much sharper....the scaling chip from my panny is much better than the decoder's ....what a shame I using Pana Plasma PV80H model and tested, HDMI is very good on HD Channel, but very bad on SD Channel. The compenent out signal distorted and composite out signal too much noise for both HD and SD channel. Astro guy came to my house on Sat noon with another new decoder and he can't solve the problem.

QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ Jan 4 2010, 11:26 AM) component and composite resolution is always fixed to 576i... the changing resolution thing only applies to hdmi wah.. this will be not convenient rite, do the decoder HD setting to 576i for SD channel and then set 1080i/720p when watching HD channels. each HD setting, password entry is needed and at least 9 buttons (4 for password + 1 for ok/confirm) pressing involved to for making seeting changes.

QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ Jan 4 2010, 12:54 PM) Just need to set once... Then plug component input and hdmi input to tv.... when watch SD, switch AV to component, when watch HD switch AV to HDMI.... 2 buttons overall, byond page up down and tv's av button lol yes, This is what i did. Component out signal is distorted at top half screen and composite picture shaking. but HDMI is very good. I used the pana plasma pv80h model (HD ready)

QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ Jan 4 2010, 02:03 PM) Holy shit...u got the same problem as mine.... top half screen of component got those distorted lines and composite shaking... i thought it was my cable prob....now since you have received the same problem as mine....i can conclude is that lemon decoder... anyway ive called astro...they are assigning a technician for me... I've have made report on thursday and the technician came to house on saturday with another new byond decoder, he can't solve that problem after swapping the decoder and cable, initially he claimed my component cable or TV input faulty, but after I shown him the DVD-Plasma connection via component cable and finally he admitted it's byond decoder problem. he called his manager so that his manager can give me a good explaination, well this rosak manager said the byond was design to make for HDMI work only and they have not tested the component out and he will report this to astro technical department.

QUOTE(shahiryusoff @ Jan 4 2010, 06:30 PM) After going through here,it seems that there is quite a number of people who have problem that is distorted video while using component or composite. I am also having this problem when I use composite to see SD channels. Any idea what is the problem? Hi, I managed to solved the composite - picture shaking problem, just goto the TV-picture menu setting (for pana plasma/LCD TV) , turn "off" the 3D-Com option and set P-NR to weak or middle. but my component 1/2 top section picture distorted problem still remain unsolve .

QUOTE(hyalbert @ Jan 5 2010, 09:15 AM) I have signed up on 17 Dec and only got their call for confirmation of T&C on 23 Dec after giving them a follow-up call. Till now, yet to receive any call on installation arrangement. With the unsatisfactory feedback from those who have the new decoder, I am reconsidering whether to proceed with the installation since most of the programmes that my family is watching are still in SD -- Wah Lai Toi and AOD. you can ask the astro CS for the installer contact after 1 week of the T&C comformation. sometimes installer didn't manage to get the correct customer contact from Astro. for my case, I signed up on 22 Dec and confirmation of T&C on 23 Dec, installer told me he got my byond decode on 28 Dec but he can't reach me with the wrong phone contact provided by astro, on 30 Dec 2 pm I called astro CS to get the installer contact and installer came to my place immediately after i contacted him. Both byond and old decode, Picture quality almost same lah for composite out. only the byond component out give problem.

QUOTE(hyalbert @ Jan 5 2010, 10:40 PM) Has any B-yond decoder owners recorded SD programmes on Hard Disk Recorder and what is the quality of the playback? Thanks I did, Pic quality almost same as old decoder. but a bit messy, formerly with old decoder, I can recorded those programmes via RF out, now Byond don't have RF out, so I using composite (Yellow) + AV (White + Red).

QUOTE(aerobowl @ Jan 6 2010, 01:25 PM) you try to say without update component is okay but after updated then problem or the other way? so now you have component OKAY or having problem? if is okay now can you test composite as well? Composite is ok, as long u turn off the 3D-Com option in your TV menu setting. Component out is still faulty so far. Another thing is those whose currently connect Astro to other display set in others room or hall via RF out, pls think twice b4 you register Byond packages, bcos it wont works with this Byond decoder. Added on January 6, 2010, 1:54 pmQUOTE(honamd77 @ Jan 6 2010, 01:37 PM) Fixed edi dekoder update.edi try watch hd in component cable. so far the notice no appear.i monitor around 1 hour. i think fixed edi just tested at 1:50pm lah, component out still don't work. top 1/2 section screen picture distorted. my byond s/w just updated this morning at 12:20 am and running with system version Dec 23 2009. QUOTE(RAMChYLD @ Jan 6 2010, 02:08 PM) A few users have already went the AV to RF converter path. My advice: if getting a RF converter, get a good quality one. Also, make sure the frequency you choose for the RF output is really unused. As for one month since first register, call Astro again. Someone here say that threaten them with SKMM/MCMC complain usually will speed them up. b4 Byond installed. S-video to TV plasma (Hall ground floor) , RF to Hall ( 1st floor) + Room (2nd floor) , AV to DVD Recorder. Now, HDMI to Plasma TV , AV --> splitter (1 to 2 ) --> Plasma TV (for SD programme) + DVD recorder, Byond Component works nothing..

QUOTE(stimix @ Jan 6 2010, 02:57 PM) Since you are using RF cable earlier..I think youi forgotten about the AV-RF converter dy.. Since we pay RM20 monthly just for the HD, what the point that faithfull customer like us since 1999 need this work-around eqmt. why so messy, having those uncessary supporting device around the decoder and display device, perhaps their 2nd decoder programme didn't got well respond, therefore the RF is not included in this new Byond decoder. I'm abit regret now, as I expect much handy/smarter decoder earlier. Using AV-RF converter expect worst pic quality.

QUOTE(edmundq @ Jan 8 2010, 10:07 AM) its not because of my sharp eyes. you are using Plasma, I'm using LCD. yours is better at moving images. LCD not so good. prefers progressive scan. ok ok, need to modify survey 720p or 1080i on LCD or Plasma. for the past 1 week, I've set 1080i default but I've just reset it to 576p now. I feel the picture is good on those SD programme with this setting and switch to 1080i whenever I watch HD programme.

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Jan 13 2010, 10:09 AM) I read in some forums, you just need RM50 and RM80 to register new astro... compare to first batch subscriber that need to pay 1.5k ++ to register in 1996.... my uncle also pay RM899 + RM100 for installation I think in 2000 if i;m not mistaken... now, his decoder already damaged... Added on January 13, 2010, 10:11 amyes... u can use it.. but better buy the real component cable... i'm just do that for testing my component output whether is was ok or not... but fortunately, everything fine... does not encounter any problem in my component output like other here arguing about it... just feel a bit dissapointed because component does not output HD signal... even 576P signal... may I know what display device (TV) you used. I'm using Panasonic Plasma TV and component out still have problem.

QUOTE(kaspersky-fan @ Jan 13 2010, 06:57 PM) yea..but composite no problem... so? still a failed tactic.... still will be ppl recording from there, quality a bit poorer but still watchable lol so where does this bring them? back to the same prob lol I did recorded some movies via HDMI & Composite in the 2nd day after my byond installed, both still looks good (SD quality lah), simply this rosak component out don't work. Astro Technician came also useless, he can't locate the problem and yet I found that he didn't submit my complaints back to astro office after I called Astro CS again last saturday.
