if i can set my satellite channel to channel 14 or was it 18 as someone mentioned i can get 100% signal bar also on left and right

My signal bar from left to right is 100 % since day one n the signal level is 255 also from day one n today i notice my firmware is upgrade n the signal still no changes, i have try to channel 18 as u guys mention but made no different too, but if u will to leave it for some time when testing your signal u will notice the signal level on the right ( signal quality ) will fluctuate a little.

Bro mine firmware is still version Oct 09. How to update ah? Saw ur post with the attached thumbnail of Software Update. Hope you or anyone can help. Thanks

just leave your decoder in standby mode. mine got update around 1am today.

Hi every1,

Got my beyond installed on new year's day after on site registration on the 29th.dec. The whole installation & the activation took less than 45mins.

As I'm staying at an apartment(Aman Puri) with individual dish, the old dish is still at the original place, cause they did not removed it due to safety reasons.

PQ from HD was awesome & the normal SD PQ is improved from previous - reasons could be the old composite cables as compared to current HDMI.

Still using the old cables from the previous dish & I did not keep the rest of the items. No payment made.


On the third day, the box was giving problem trying to boot. Switched on the power & just like waiting for the durians to fall but no "boot" sign. Off the mains to try again & this time the boot signal is on.. but it goes off not into the 2 small dots but the individual letters like o or t. Try to switch off again & managed after a few tries to get it to work.

This has been on-going for the past couple of days now & just could not get it to boot just now for trying more than half an hour. Reported that to astro & a technician would be sent within 48hrs. Will see how it goes. I plug & unplugged the mains & checked for any loose connection but still the same problem is there. Any one else having the same problem?

BTW I'm using Sharp LC40LB700M which I bought thru Kevin, nice bloke & excellent service.

Did you tried to called your installer on this? I think he may be able to help on this.

Has any B-yond decoder owners recorded SD programmes on Hard Disk Recorder and what is the quality of the playback?

My astro signal only 190-193. Should I complaint? Or probably location can cause the low signal.

Because previously, with my old dish, I only get 60-70 signal only. Any one from kuantan here? What you signal?

Location? I'm from Sarawak but now can get signal that is just as good as the people in KL.

But you might want to check your dish. I get 193-195 when I was using the old dish (left). Changed it today with the new dish (right) and my signal goes up to 222 !

Tried with the BlackMagic Intensity. SD channels no problem. HD channels show picture for 5 seconds then as expected, blank screen with "Copy Protection Failed" error.

*sigh* us Asians got no love when trying to get HTPC to play nice with satellite. US got AverMedia card which is HDCP compliant. Problem is said card only work with p24, p30 and i60 sources. No p25 and i50 support.

The only thing we have is the BlackMagic Intensity which does not support HDCP.

Looks like I either cancel my HD subscription or buy yet another new TV. I dun want HDMI switch, and the Dell is the largest screen in my lair.

Well, it's RM1050. I got the Pro edition because the regular Intensity is discontinued.

I'm not surprised about the SD channels not being protected tho. Probably because it makes no difference if you plug in a VCR or DVD recorder into composite and record from there or if you use HDMI
