one sharing; just realized if press the "Back" button, this will change to the previous channel, if press the "Back" button again then it will move back to the current channel.

Pls can you tell how to lock it. After choosing #18 3a(VH), it goes back to #1, someone mentioned about 'edit' button.
How does it work? blink.gif

yup...it works... and if u watch SD channels using component, it is much sharper....the scaling chip from my panny is much better than the decoder's ....what a shame
*
You mean to say upscaling through component only, not through HDMI? I'm bit naive lah doh.gif

No no.... the component output is SD, 576i....only 576i.... so when  u feed this signal to ure tv, ure tv will know automatically what to do, which is resize it for u.... i feel that resizing done through tv looks sharper...

TQ. Only thing is i also need RCA cable for audio. i'll try tonite! smile.gif

If that the case, is it posible DD5.1 problem is due to decoder, or broadcasting etc?

Tip: If your TV have both HDMI and component connector available, connect both to your Byond decoder. Watch HD on HDMI and SD on component.  SD channel more vivid and sharper on  component. It does make a difference.  rclxms.gif

How come other people facing problem with component? Wrong with their decoders?

More or less the same on SD channels. Hard to tell. But the stereo sound is definitely better.
Wait until they have better ways of utilizing the overscan video output (thru HDMI) and smarter ways to stretch the 4:3 source.
*
Same here. Hard to tell. May be s-video (old decoder)slightly better. But depends on channel. Indian channels (like zee etc) looks ok.
But they promise it'll be better with mpeg4!

Hello..

Just installed my B.Yond set yesterday. The picture quality for the HD channels is superb. But i wander why the quality for other channels seems to be worst than before. U guys have the same prob? Or it is just my eyes are in denial after watching the super clear HD channels. Hmmm

No way is the picture quality worse on SD with HDMI.
It is better.

I think most of you are noticing this becasue you just spent half an hour looking at an HD channel and went to SD. Naturally the difference is huge when doing this but it is still better then what it was.

Your brain is playing tricks on you.

What cable you used with old decoder, composite or S-Video?

Applied online 19-12
Called them 23-12
T&C 24-12
Installer called 4-1, 6-1 installed (Bukit Jalil)

Signal strength quite bad at 155. Anybody have lower then this?
He also checked signal strength before installation of new dish with the old dish and it was also around 150.
Installer says the concealed wiring is too long (3 storey house) and signal can only be improved by moving dish down.

But still looks great on TV and I love the 5.1  rclxms.gif

Will wait to see premier league before making decision. smile.gif

You love the DD5.1? What amp/avr ur using? Are you sure ur getting 'real' DD5.1 without 'echo' / leaking?

How about DD5.1 issue, is it ok with all of you? Mine still sucks, not even one movie (HBO HD so far) gave 'real' surround. Pro-logic II under SD movie channels gives better sound!
Astro called me yesterday to tell that their DD5.1 working very well with discreet sound blink.gif I tried to explain but i guess they dont know what i'm talking about hmm.gif
Its really hurts when your 'pasar malam DVD' produce such a perfect DD5.1 surround (i tried latest Harry Potter-what a surround sound) but
HD HBO still strugle with its DD5.1! icon_question.gif

Try listening thru the TV speakers and see if you notice a delay.
I think it could be your set up that is causing this.
*
I can't get sound through TV from HD channels (SD channels ok) when opt for DD5.1 , is it normal? Sound only through my AVR theatre system
and also not in 'discreet' 5.1 (not as DVD) i.e HBO HD, you guys have such problem? hmm.gif

Is this normal?
Yeah.

You have sellected that channels that are dolby 5.1 be sent down the digital audio cable and that is only going to your home theatre. Set the decoder to stereo if you want to hear those channels via your TV and the audio will be sent in stereo via the HDMI connection. HDMI does not send 5.1 audio, you can't get dolby by using HDMI.
It seems that most programmes on History and National Geo are real 5.1 but so far I've not noticed any on HBO. It is a programme by programme thing so even though a channel might be 5.1 the actual programme is where the audio comes from and if that isn't 5.1 then we won't get it. In this case the channels do a kind of stereo feed over 5.1 channels but it's not  real "surround sound" as in 6 seperate channels of audio.
*
TQ. But the surround effect (5.1) is very poor for all the HD channels i tried so far, even though the programs/shows claim to be DD5.1, that
include latest movies shown on HBO HD. If opt for stereo than u can set for pro-logic II, sounds better than 5.1. i don't know the problem with Astro
broadcast or decoder or my Pioneer AVR (which is unlikely)?

bros

just got my Beyond installed...yeah!

on the digital audio setting to my DD avr - can i still get DD 5.1 if i just set the decoder to analog + digital mode?? Or do i have to specifically select DD 5.1? Coz kinda cumbersome to switch this everytime...

coz i've selected both modes from Settings and my amp shows only Digital PCM and not DD 5.1

and does DD 5.12 only appear for film with DD 5.1 encoding or it applies to every channel that has HD from Astro?

thx!
*
No. If you set to analog/digital you'll get stereo or Pro-logic (if u set ur AVR to theatre mode). But u'll get sound frm TV also for SD & HD channel.

U must opt for DD5.1 to get DD5.1 through ur AVR (set ur AVR to Auto sorround mode to detect DD5.1) only for HD channels (but no sound frm TV
'cos HDMI can carry 5.1). U'll get sound for SD channels frm TV & AVR).

DD5.1 will appear to all HD channels, but the real 5.1 effect for those ecoded DD5.1 (ie movies HBOHD or HD Geo etc).
