Well a good tip is set the hdmi resolution to 576i and go record it.... will it record off the original digital stream? and will the file be an mpeg-2 video file? if so you can start to figure out how bad their SD bitrate transmission is lol...

but if you cancel your astro, you will burn rm1050? unless the store accepts returned goods ...

Wow I tested #18 measat 3A & to my suprise getting the max of 255
Normal #1, I'm getting only 220-225

If you tune to #18 measat 3a, you won't be getting any shows at all?

I doubt the satellite signal strength will affect the PQ, as long as the signal strength achieve the minimum, you can enjoy the same PQ say 195 vs 225 or 255. The only advantage of signal strength is to deal with bad weather, heavy downpour on the satellite reception, correct me if i am wrong.

You can only save if the got unlocked status.. Like me, I can use channel 1 and 18 and 2 more others, forgot already.

Of course weather is what people most concern about when talking about signal strength. 220+ signal strength will ensure we get less interruption from bad weather.

Yeah at 1st it was like dat..I tested b4 last week & as u said blank screen..but wth the latest info, I tried again. 1st still blank screen. I go back & press the channel "+"/"-" button and once other channel OK, I go back to recheck the setting..yeap still #18 & getting 255

Hopefully the blank screen will not come bck again & phsycologically, I feel much better PQ in both HD & SD channels..

just call astro cs... can used centralised dish to watch byond but it will cause other in your apartmen cannot watch their sd astro...
for hd world cup i would do anything.hehe... devil mind

I can test CH 18 but it's locked, how do you get unlocked status? Even my default channel 1 is locked too. Please advise.

Ehh I think the meaning of locked is locked to the signal kua? bcos mine also showing locked but I strill can change to #18. Thereafter also showing "Locked" sign but satelites stayed at #18

Well I dun really care bcos now getting Max 255 liao.. or is it bcos of Y'day firmware update ..Probably need to switch back to satelite #1 to test back the signal

I heard that if you watch HD channel while the other decoder is on. The old decoder will not display any picx and sounds like when raining because HD transmission is in high frequency then the SD one,,, But it works again if b.yond is tuning to sd channels

Will see how first. Since my intention, as I said before, it's not for recording (I already have VCR wired to composite for that), it's just that I want to output HD signal from decoder to biggest screen in my lair.

I think the card only act as video capture device, it doesn't read the streams directly to hard disk, it decompresses the stream to YUV 4:2:2 and PCM audio, and let your video capture program of choice do recompression.

The unlocked is auto, 2-3 sec after selecting the channel.. no need to do anything..

What is ur software version? current one is 23 dec.
