if not support, then there is no picture appear rite?
*
Depend on monitor. Most should show something like "Resolution not supported" if no support.

QUOTE(utellme @ Jan 4 2010, 12:39 PM)
wah.. this will be not convenient rite, do the decoder HD setting to 576i for SD channel and then set 1080i/720p when watching HD channels. each HD setting, password entry is needed and at least 9 buttons (4 for password + 1 for ok/confirm) pressing involved to for making seeting changes.
*
Actually, I think the SD channel is perpetually downscaled to 576i regardless of HD setting. For HDMI signal, picture will automatically upscale to selected resolution dispite native image res. Will let you know for sure once I get my HTPC setup up and running.

could this due to simultaneous output effect?
can try just component only (and set 576i if necessary) to see any distortion?

imagine if this is common faulty for all byond component output then astro may face big issue as having a problematic decorder

I've have made report on thursday and the technician came to house on saturday with another new byond decoder, he can't solve that problem after swapping the decoder and cable, initially he claimed my component cable or TV input faulty, but after I shown him the DVD-Plasma connection via component cable and finally he admitted it's byond decoder problem. he called his manager so that his manager can give me a good explaination, well this rosak manager said the byond was design to make for HDMI work only and they have not tested the component out and he will report this to astro technical department. biggrin.gif

well this decoder has already some bugs discovered and warned by our fellow byond users (i just used for a day and i've already stumbled upon most problem mentioned... =__=), among those i've came across :

1. when switching channels, suddenly would land on no pic but got sound prob..... but could be solved by switching to other channels and switch back to the desired channel.
2. when switching on decoder, have to press the on button quickly, not slowly... or else the decoder would turn off and on quickly and results in no picture/sound on every channel... the remote is too sensitive i would say
3. when u switch to any channel, and then press the subtitle/language button and press ok, the volume suddenly increases and becomes louder lol.
4. volume on astro remote only works when used in analog output.. else u would need to sync with the tv to adjust tv's volume from astro's remote if ure using hdmi
5. if u usually switch off the main power of the decoder(esp when ure going to bed at night), once turned on, need to wait quite a while before the decoder shows the time, then only can on

6. distorted component and composite output [this one really ticks me off]

If that the case, is it posible DD5.1 problem is due to decoder, or broadcasting etc?
