Can I put a splitter at the wall panel so that I can connect two decoder (i.e. one new & one old)? very leceh when want to switch between new & old smart card lah !
*
Spent RM11 on this splitter but found that it doesn't work ! connected both old decoder > s.video > tv and new decoder > hdmi > tv, can watch all channel on byond but when switch to old decoder, it display "service currently not available", no satelite signal at all.

The silly part is it comes with Coaxial output while every new home theater uses optical. Astro d was selfish all was done to protect its own interest. It never took into consideration the public interest, the sets we bought 5yrs which are HD ready but cannot be used bcos Astro was HDMI,Thats what Monopoly means !@ vmad.gif

Question :

can new Byond HD decoder use with old dish and LNB?

reason.. my installer will come tomorrow.. and i instruct them to install at my new house which i will only be moving in another 2 weeks..

I'm not planning to give up my old decoder (so.. pay rm80)

so.., can just install the new dish at new house and bring back new decoder to connect to my old house and receive HD transmission?

I read in this thread some ppl didn't change the dish.. yet still can get HD transmission..

thanks..

That normal lah for big company like Astro... They always make thing that meet their need not use needs... Lucky for me both my LCD c/w 2 HDMI port and my AV receiver have one coxial input (dunno if it compatible or not). Look like my DVD player need to use back it optical cable just to meet Astro requirement.

I guess there's 2 ways of looking at this...

1. We pay to be early adopters of technology

2. We pay to be guinea pigs of technology

What splitter you mention ? can you post a photo ??
To share the dish with both new & old decoder, you need the LBN as what Azri posted in v1 thread. If you have 2 decoder in 1 account, Astro should give you this LNB.

you mean if not either early adopters or guinea pigs, i.e. the slow adopter way, means we do not need to pay? hmm.gif

not really.. early adopters/guinea pigs pay X amount for Y amount of channels and features while slow coaches/cheapskates pay X amount for Y+Z amount of channels and features. brows.gif

say, back to topic.. why no update on any new (if there's any) equipment (receiver or decoder) on 1st page?

I think further they move a lot of thing they will leave behind (perhaps they think that what was not necessary anymore) ... I did saw some new branded DVD player now without optical out, only coxial out...
