If I have 2 set top boxes, can I replace one of them with the HD box, or is it compulsory to replace both? I don't want to lose the recording capabilities of my astro max box until they bring out a HD pvr.

I guess it should be treated as 2 individual accounts.
Unless it is the 50% second decoder. If change the principal decoder, I think need to change the supplement account as well since they share the same dish. hmm.gif

I very doubt so. Even if it is capable of doing so, Astro would not allow the decoder to become a video player.

By looking at the back of the unit, found 12V DC input instead of 240V input. Meaning external power adapter needed ??

Of course la. Cannot plug in 240v directly to a 12v device. Kaboom!!

I just hope the adapter is not as big as Xbox 360's power brick.

kapultek: dream on, RM20 mkv HD player.... yeah right....

I have checked, for existing apartment/condo/high rise building that shares the dish (meaning you dont have individual dish sticking out yr balcony), there will be a wait of 18-24 months for them to change the dish/cable/infrastructure.

However, if you building has plenty of requests, they could escalate in installation process, but as for now, they are mainly catering to existing subscribers with their own dish units only.
