I don't think that's how it works nowadays - they each bid for exclusive rights to broadcast EPL and it's given to the highest bidder, as usual. So this is what Singtel did and now SG punters have to subscribe to two monopolies. Competition? what competition...

Same for World Cup and other big events

In the end, the highest bidder wins all the rights, and guess who will have to pay for it?

it doesnt work that way, ESPN get EPL matches, but ESPN is part of STARTV too...

i don think we can get better quality of IPTV from TMNut,
nowadays we even cant get a satisfy speed from them for normal download..

They just called me this morning. I registered on 11-12-09. To them this is what they meant within 24hrs!! Now the story is " we will call again before 15-12-09 to confirm the order and installation will be 14 days from the said confirmation ! Thats Asstro !! Throw also cannot cos its an Ass!!

Astro b.yond is limited channel only. So i will wait until more channel open up on that HD then is worth it.

called them yesterday morning. they called back in the evening. said that this tuesday they call back to confirm wit t&c.

is it we can watch all programme on HBO HD,
or only for the selected HD movies,
the rest we have to turn back to HBO SD channel?

and i wonder,
RM20 is for all HD channels,
or the price will increase if Astro provide more HD channels in the future?

this is Astro style...

if your old astro subscription does not include movie, learning or sports package, then you will have zero HD channel available for you to watch even if you pay RM20 on top of old subscription fee

I'm expecting when one buys a 1080p TV, the quality of the HD channels would be good but the other channels would be worst unless they are gonna be upscaled

is it the SD channel will be upscaled?

if the HD box doesn't do upscale, your HDTV will upscale the digital signal

You have the option to set to stretch (zoom) for full screen on your decoder for 4:3 content. You can find the setting under Home- > Setting - > Installation Setting - > TV Setting. In January 2010, we will have the short cut key available on the remote control with sign icon to toggle between pillar boxes and stretch option.

HBO HD is a channel by itself .You can check out hboasia HD website and get the Singapore schedule whcih wld be ours too later. you may go to starhub.sg and get all the HD channel schedules.

Most likely to come soon Discovery, Natgeo Wild and a few more like Babytv . See what happened to BBCE,Astro prefers only Asian versions. Starhub provides more HD sport content. We cant dream of having ASN sports and HBO sports can we ?! We wl be blessed with ASSP and ESPN for the rest of our lives,perhaps !

I think what you and most people don't understand about the B-yond is that its an add-on to the current astro. You must have Astro service first and only topping up RM20 per month then you can watch some channels in which is available in HD. Its not like you can watch Discovery HD and not wanting to subscribe to Discovery. You must have Discovery package only then you can top up Rm20 to view it in HD.

If I have 2 set top boxes, can I replace one of them with the HD box, or is it compulsory to replace both? I don't want to lose the recording capabilities of my astro max box until they bring out a HD pvr.

will my current tv tuner card ( Hauppage PVR150MCE) able to cater to watch Astro in HD?

i just took the plunge from subscribing online...
