Wah, didn't know 480p was THAT bad. ASTRO hurts my eyes, but that's a common gripe. I've seen some of the LG/Samsung upscaling DVD player output, if that's what you mean, otherwise can't the Xbox360 upscale your DVDs for you?

Oooo like that
Then the best bet would be one of those upscaling players, you can get from LG/Samsung/Denon. Htkaki would be able to help you better I think |

Not that I know of. I've only been a new user of the 360, but the upscaling works over component too. I need to check this out to verify, of course.

Upscaling only works via VGA for the 360, including the 1080p resolution. Component connections stays at 480p for movies, although component can go up to 1080p, MPAA has imposed restriction from going 1080p via component.

Im avoiding VGA connection on my setup, as it exhibits a very washed-out kinda image quality. Ever since, i've sold my VGA cables to those who need it.

Ever since, i've sold my VGA cables to those who need it. oh ok thanks for the heads up.. thing is, i've been planning to get hd-dvd but heck with it.. i read somewhere that vga is only up to 720p for the braviaX.. gonna just go get an upscaling dvd player and wait for hdmi for xbox 360.. which i don't see why its such a big deal to produce... |

HD-DVD at 1080i is awesome enough to stand toe to toe with Bluray's 1080p. Take my word for it.

Any news about the new Samsung F7 series? The prices? And how does it compare with other brands (eg: Bravia X, Aquos)?
