hey all i hav a question, i currently am using a 29 inch standard TV.. and was just wondering considering a 40 inch lcd is well... wide screen.. in general is it much "smaller" than my 29 inch tv? for example, my 20.1 inch lcd is about the same height as my 17 inch monitor..

I am actually asking because, size is a matter in terms of enjoyment and available shelf space.

Actually just want to ask, I'm a xbox 360 and PS3 owner and it is because of these machines that I am looking into a HDTV..

Just want to ask though how important is 1080p if i am only getting something in the 40 - 42 inch range?

and I usually play games at a distance of 6ft+ from the TV? I've heard that ppl say if you screen size isn't too big you have to be really close to see the difference etween 720p and 1080p, is that true?

this is unrelated to gaming, but just wondering if anybody here know or bought a dvd that is capable of upscaling to 1080i?? watching dvds on 480p on progressive is hurting my eyes!!

i'm not using vga cable and even so,i can not upscale my ori region 1 dvds mah.. hehe cos i'm ntsc/j

seriously though.. i am only starting to get use to playing wii as it is now..

btw, if i am upscaling from the x360, do i need to use the vga cables?

thing is, i've been planning to get hd-dvd but heck with it.. i read somewhere that vga is only up to 720p for the braviaX.. gonna just go get an upscaling dvd player and wait for hdmi for xbox 360.. which i don't see why its such a big deal to produce...

I usually get em for amazon but shipping sometimes gets a bit pricey for priority shipping.. I do not use other shipping methods because i've had a few items lost before (stupid malaysian post)

i actually got the sony upscaling player.. but after watching iceage meltdown on Bluray, even my wife who has no interest in this gadget stuff, cannot believe her eyes.. My problem is the current format wars, as far as I am concerned there are many movies that I like on both formats and I heard Lotr will be out on HD-DVD whilst Star wars on bluray maybe at least Matrix is going to be easy because of warner's new format

Yeah from amazon if i order one DISC the delivery charge for priority is more than the disc and amazon's "group together" thing doesn't work really well.. not much of a discount :/

two discs will cost me upward of 70usd

Yeah it really does make a difference.. its not really HD but makes your dvds acceptable.. previously using my old dvd player on my tv makes the dvd look almost like vcd quality... personally i think an upscaling dvd player is a must for now as bluray and/or hddvd discs are not easily attainable..

Hmmm just wondering one thing, I have heard of external upscalers, and frankly dvds for me now look just as good as it did on my sdtv(with some artifacts here and there) .. i wonder if an upscaler will do the same for the Wii?

seriously sometimes its quite painful playing it these days...

its not so bad that i won't play it.. just wish it could go through the same treatement my dvd gets when i play it on the upscaling player..
