I has been trying to find a good spectacle to match my squarish face, which is absolutely hard to match. i have done what the net has point out in choosing spec according to head shape but i just seems to get it right nor any attendant there in my place. So i guess its time to get some help even if not of too expert also good for me. I will make it one of my plan of coming to kl for one of the professional services.

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a fake spec (spec without any power) to buy. I need it for a drama i am involved in my college.

I hv tried asking all those optometry shops but they only sell real specs.

So can someone help tell me where i can get it?

Note:

-Not looking for sunglasses.
-Not looking for those oversized specs that lalas like to wear.

Just something that resembles what a normal spec wearing person would wear.

Thx in advance.

oversized spec is not lala, even designers wear them as well.
(Don't simply use 'lala', coz it's show you are low fashion sense.)

the spec you searching can found anywhere, especially at the little shops sell spec in mall or night market.

Sorry for the words that you think is rude to you, I'm a fashion design student, and a freelance designer for wedding gown, Rtw and accessories as well.

Honestly, for those who understand more fashion and it's history, we don't use 'lala' this word in talk. Because there is no such thing in fashion term.

Well if that's the case the only reason for your displeasure could be the fact that i have put fashion designers and lalas in the same group.

That only serves to prove 1 point.

That lalas exist. You agree lalas also use those big specs. And you agree that lalas look stupid wearing them.

enough said.

Mine is half-frame,black,looks quite smart la,I think now most shops selling the kind of specs like mine,it's the latest fashion I think biggrin.gif

Half-frame means the bottom part of the lens is not covered

Don't buy Rayban frame. I am wearing one now and the support for the nose kept bending and shifting, causing a lot of pain and pressure on my nose. I have it fixed 3 times already within 6 months.

Been wearing prescription glasses for more than 11years and what I can tell you is, go try out glasses and look at the mirror before you buy. Like everyone said, different shape of face demands different glasses design.

Like myself, I looked good with half-frame but not frameless and full-frame.

Finally, you won't go wrong with Oakley's tongue.gif

I'm kind of in the same shoes as TS. I'm 21 and i wanna get the profesional look, so i went for the oakley intake 2.0 (google for an image). it will take some time to get use with design that doesnt have an ear loop. after 2 years using it, i will say that i really love oakley design. but saying that the rubber at the back may get damaged over time. one side of mine is damaged already. but i dont really bother to repair.

oh, and the nose area is very comfortable.

Ive been wearimg glasses for almost 20++ years, i would rekcond u guys to find a good frame, either its branded or non branded but make sure:
1. It is not too tight or too small or too big for ur head. Too small resulting too much gripping and tends to hurt when u wearing for a long period. Too big means there's not much gripping and tends to fall easily.
2. Go for the spring attached frames. It'll grip better and wont go loose when ure sweating, esp. When using plastic frames.
3. This is from my personal experience so any thoughts are welcomed. If can, dont go for plastic lens. Ive been using plastic lens for about 12 years and every year my lens power seems to increased. Was advise to use glasses lens and since then there's minimum increase in myy lens power.

Hope this will at least help u in choosing a good glasses for a long run.

One question here...can I like look for my optometrist(Which I've been attending since im young) just to get my "eyes information" cause she's very reliable and the reading she got is always very accurate[she's an eye doctor from ireland @@ but now open specs shop] cause from my past experience..i tried going other storeays ended up the news spes i got make me dizzy.....however....in tat doctor's specs hop...she doesnt have much choice...so can i like go for her consultation and get the report and go to other specs shop to make the specs??

I don't know will this works but...

Maybe you could get a pair of frames and the matching lenses for the frame and take it to the lady?

Need someone to clarify this if this works.

If u can afford it, try Mykita.. tried one at the shop, they're really light and IMO look good.. they're about RM1.3k a pop minus lenses.. http://www.mykita.com/articles/index/glass...ollection-no-1#

Try to get eyewear design brand if you really want a nice pair of spectacles. Fashion design brands have no match for them.

I'm wearing a Masaki Matsushima currently, also a pair or Mikli.

If your optometrist sells specs, she sure do prescribe lenses as well. You can go other places to get the frame you like, and go back to her place to prescribe your lenses. smile.gif

Phillippe Starck from Alain Mikli is good. I owned 3 frames from them. Don't buy Tag Heuer or Oakley because the quality is bad & overprice due to marketing. May consider ic Berlin...

not necessary has to be eyewear designer brand. Tag Heuer has surprisingly good quality. and they come from a watchmaking background. i believe it is produced in house as well.

not many good quality choices in Malaysia. Oakley's stuff is rubbish since being bought over by Luxottica group.

so far i've seen my friend purchase an EVISU glasses.

it always attracts me, because the design and branding is the most unique.

Is there glasses that are non-prescriptive? I don't have a sight problem but I am planning to do some con jobs and one of the requirement is that I need to look rather 'nerdy' so any assistance on this matter is fore-appreciated.

True strory,

Just got my POLICE V1677 frame from Jusco Seremban RM500++ wif carl zeis lense RM280. After 1 day already got dizzy n blurry vision compare to my last eyeglass. I return it 2 change the glass, did another eyetest but the optometris said my previous glass is OVERPOWERED n bad for eyes (something bout making the eyes tired and all wutever). So i keep using it but after a few days feel dizzy so i went to another shop at tesco seremban. Check my eyes at 2 different shops there n lastly make another pair of lense (overpower) AO Lense (also under carl zeiss) for RM230. Wear it for a days, vision super sharp but i'm kinda worried bout the long term effect so i switch back to my 1st lense (the carl zeis). Another few days past, still "tak puas hati" wif the lense..come back to another shop, make a new pair of lense HD Pro Crystal Lux (manufactured by Hoya) RM260, not overpower but minor +- from my 1st lense. My point is, choose your Optometrist wisely my friend or u'll end up wasting near RM1K for your glasses...n btw, POLICE V1677 rawks..and oakley kinda sucks..my last frame is byblos, rayban and oakley...

thinner more expensive because they more light and compress higher degree into thinner size .

also if the lens is plastic if they make u the anti yellow 1 or anti scratch 1 it will more expensive too .

Used to wear glasses until I came home to Malaysia. All those cheap (illegal) reflective car window tints on Myvis (it's always a Myvi) nearly blinded me. So I had to wear sunglasses. But you can't wear sunglasses worth shit if you wear specs. I looked at the FOGG sunglassed that you wear over your specs, but they were inelegant and severely overpriced in Malaysia.

So I went with contacts and never looked back. Contacts are better. Makes me look less geeky and lets me wear my Raybans.

which means they want you to look for the whole collection urself and decide. at the end it will be you that decide what spectacles that you wanna buy. and for the budget of <200, its pretty hard for us to give you suggestion as normally specs in this range of price are non-recognized in terms of brands and can only be found in common spectacles shop. get it?

Any recommendation for ~30 yrs old, office guy? Small head and small eyes cry.gif

Budget is around 1k. I have bought 2 Oakleys in the past:

1st pair: Thread 4.0
2nd pair: Bottle Rocket 2.0
Now: Thread 4.0 as prescription, Bottle Rocket 2.0 as sunglasses

Recently went to check and found Capacitor looks fit on my face (preferred Casing but the frame kinda big for my small face cry.gif )

Beside Oakley, I'm open for other brands too. If my budget can get a Tag that fits me, I don't mind tongue.gif

I haven't changed my glasses for 10 years and I think now is the time to do just that. I'm interested in those lenses that turn dark when you're outdoors. What do you call those and roughly how much do they cost together with the frames? I checked a few sites like A Look, 100 Visons, and Optical Point and they don't display the prices for their frames and all. My budget is below rm300.
I really like the look of this one...

u can try USJ Optometrist in taipan, subang jaya. Same row with 7-11 in taipan, directly opposite Nandos.

They dont sell much branded frames, but they are definitely well trained. my referrals come back with great feedback, u can check with my contact lens customer in my health & fitness thread that pinned up by lowyat admin. They are previously hospital optometrists, each of them has own specialty. You can check out all the hospital and health ministry certificates in the shop.

What eye problem do you have?

depends on what type of lens you're choosing, 1.74, 1.7, 1.67, etc...of course, the thinner the lenses, the more expensive it is. if your vision is not that bad, the the lens should be fairly cheap.

I'm thinking about getting a new pair of glasses this week. Ordered my last few pairs from Focus Point, Hoya high index lense at RM800+ a pop.

Anybody did a lense price comparison before? Can those smaller shop give me a better price for the lense or should I just stick with Focus Point?

Proeyes give good prices on Raybans, Gucci sunnies..don't know about lens..but Proeyes prices have been consistently lower than others on a lot of eyewear (Focus Point, Optical 88, Paris Miki for comparison). Also got IC! Berlin for cheaper than another outlet in Publika.. Essilor Airwear lens at RM360..but low power one lah..

my friend is offering Rm 280 for a pair of high index Essilor airwear lens with 1 year warranty, Rm 80 cheaper than proeyes.

IC berlin can get Rm 1000 only but of course not many choice left la because they are selling very fast. 1 or 2 pairs sold a week according to the boss, i think they order a few pairs every 2-3 months to replenish stock.

i assume u looking for high index, for thinner lense? but that depends on the frame u choose also. power more than 700++? if u do get it, can you post the thickness of the lense? need to make comparison smile.gif

Hi guys

Pro eyes quoted RM200 for a pair of 1.67 lense. Power 500+- . Is this reasonable?

make sure they show you the proof, ask for the lens envelope. check the power on the lens envelope, make sure its printed your power and lens index 1.67 on it. if they cant produce it, then u know they are cheating.

I looking for glasses with Transition lens but i heard that it is expensive to use Transition lens because my power is more than 900++.

Is it better to use high index lens with magnetic clip sun glasses or Transition High Index lens?

Any good brand for frame looks like Ray Ban.

Please share. Thanks.

Guys, just a question

Let say you are wearing spectacles and sometime contact lens(if going to sport activities or event).

and you are getting a shade for driving, which following would u go for?
- get 2 shades, 1 with power (when not wearing contact lens) and 1 with no power (when wearing contact lens)
-get 1 shade with power
-get 1 shade with no power

or u have a good advise and recommendation on how should i choose?

for power 900 u need at least 1.67 index...still,it wont be so thin....for transitions 1.67 will cost u about RM1.2k...

clip on is also a choice...u can get clear lens index 1.74 which is thinner than 1.67 for as low as rm800 maybe and get a clip on for rm20-30...depending on ur budget...

Budget?

Most transitions like Hoya and Carl Zeiss ain't cheap, plus your power is a lil tad high for those cheap transitions.

1,6 you need get the slightly higher version of the Zeiss.

Mine basic around 300 bucks, the higher version would be around 600, if you are looking at transition, maybe more.

Ispec2u really selling fake stuffs one ah? Is there any way to prove whether it is fake or real? (except by its selling price...)

Added on December 1, 2012, 10:16 pmThis is what they told me when i ask them to prove its really REAL stuffs they're selling:

"every item we sell has a official warranty card. we're whole-saler, and outside market mark up till 300-400% profit margin, and selling really expensive. You must view our product to believe."

Anyone has really been to their shop and see their stuffs?? I'm actually planning to buy from them...

Yes, what index you want for the essilor transition?

I will check for you the price for oakley crosslink also, i can get stock from revelstoke, definitely cheaper than better vision and bangsar reliance because i dont need to pay rent, LOL!

Added on December 5, 2012, 12:55 pmoakley crosslink I am selling Rm 600 only!!! With 1 year warranty from revelstoke malaysia. Any problem, i will claim for you.

Wow.. That's cheaper than the local price.. But I'm quite tempted to get from e-bay.. Found one around 500.. But not sure worth the trouble n wait or not.. And the transition lens is RM238 for 1.65 index? Oh, and for daily disposable lens, how much is it? My sister is looking for it.. Thanks..

Dont buy from ebay, you should get straight from US oakley rather than online oakley selling in ebay, mostly are selling fake and cant claim warranty in malaysia from local supplier.

the transition Rm 238 is for 1.5 index.

Daily silicone hydrogel lens is Rm 80 a box of 30 pieces. Pm me if you interested. thanks

This frame itself cost you rm 800. If you get the essilor transition from my friend, rm 238, then total is already 1038, slightly over your budget, but i doubt you can find any cheaper than this price.

The frame i get direct from supplier, so I will only order it after you confirmed, then u can bring the frame to my friend's shop to do the lens in. But I will still ask my friend to put the frame under their receipt and I will claim warranty for u if any problem.

according to the website, its oem, but since icberlin is made by THEMSELVES and not other factories, im very skeptical about this. most likely a aaa grade fake

If you are a student but can't afford such luxuries, don't buy la.

What's so great bout a spec that cost 1,5k that works the same with another that cost 600?

hmm.gif maintenance free specs, lightweight frame. i don't go for brands though, i go for features. maybe save up lo... smile.gif If can I'd love to have it lasts for a very long time smile.gif

that's why I'm looking for shops with better deals. of course i don't wanna pay 1.5k for a spec until i work... 500-1k is alright for me smile.gif

My Oakleys has lasted more than 4 years for the 1st pair, and the 2nd one just came in last month.

I guess you don't need to go for IC Berlin for quality, there are plenty of other good frames that last very long too.

Maybe bro Jialat can help you get cheaper but don't expect till 1,5k --> 900+ la laugh.gif

Not to add, the prescription ain't cheap too nowadays.

After u guys tried out the markus T or oakley in shop, just take down the model number and color code. I can call in to supplier and get a price quotation, definitely cheaper than shop price and with full warranty also. Can go to my friends shop to get the lens done with warranty also. Thanks

i'm not so sure of other brands of the same/almost same design but you can try to survey in different optical shops. if u r looking for frameless specs, the lens that you need to prescribe is limited to polycarbonate and trivex. I'm not sure if there are other type of lens that can be used for this frame. I just found out that Trivex is better than PC lens in terms of optical quality (Abbe value). can anyone here shed some light on the real world difference between these 2 lens? as i have just ordered my Essilor PC lens. unfortunately Essilor don't have Trivex lens.

hello, do u think I can get a good spec + lens under Rm400 ? I usually went to those shop that sell no-brand spec like playboy and transformer. I got myself "crocodile" spec + lens from them at around Rm600. After two years, the painting were heavily fading and the scratch on lens is obvious. One of my fren that work in spectacle shop before told me I was cheated. The cost for spec and glasses is actually very low. Any recommendation ?

this is the reply from my optometrist friends:

polycarbonate lens is 1.59 index, thinner, low abbe value, cant contant with erosive chemical, more impact resistant

trivex is 1.53 index, slightly thicker, higher abbe value, optical performance better, better tensile strength

Again, it depends on what is the main purpose of the lens you want to have.

Look for professional optometrists for eye check and they will recommend the best lens according to your need, rather than those chain store where the staff fit lens according to which brand gives them a fitter incentive.

my optometrist recommend me polycarb for my frame, so i already choose Essilor Airwear. but as what i know polycard has a low abbe value, which means optical performance is not as good compared to Trivex? both Trivex and PC have the advantages in terms of strength and UV protection, just thebig difference is the Abbe value. hmm.gif

depends on how sensitive your eyes is and how clear your previous glasses is. you should really ask the person who sold you the glasses before you paid for it, lets hope you are not sensitive to the difference in clarity in vision.

beware that many fake evisu frames in market now, must make sure they provide 1 year warranty, 1 to 1 exchange, not repair if damage. Only original frame supplier provides 1 to 1 exchange warranty. I see many seling fake frame online in lowyat garage sale.

Thats quite common, its antimetropia. Its long sighted on 1 eye, not presbyopia.

Just have to get full prescription glasses then it should help reduce eye strain and headache.

Thick plastic frames has been the "trend" for like, ages. Everywhere you go everyone, and I mean everyone sports one. Do we really need another guy on the street looking generic? I think no.
End of the day, it's a question of what frame suits your face shape. Disregard trend or whatever. I noticed you were looking at Clubmasters earlier. What's to stop you from wearing one if you like the look and it suits your face? Poster above says it's an old trend, to be exact the look was quite happening around 2009. Never really took off here though, Malaysian tastes are weird. They can't accept the Clubmaster but think that weird cyber-punk spectacles look fine.
*
So if I wear a Clubmaster, people might see me and think what kind of weird specs is that right?

Of course I know the specs must suit my face, but I also do not want a funny-looking specs that might make people laugh at me . I am who I am and I do not care what others think of me, but I also want to look good with a nice-looking pair of spectacles man smile.gif So maybe u guys here can recommend me some nice glasses? From pics on the internet I can already judge if it suits my face or not nod.gif

Your first preference is the Clubmaster, yeah? Do you think you look good in Clubmasters? If yes, disregard what others think. It's a question of taste. If an ah beng came and told you your Aviators look stupid, would you care? And would you like to be everyone else, with the safest taste possible?
If it's too bold for you, then do look through premium eyeglass makers for some tips. You could always see what Porsche Design has for example, then pick something similar to it. Heck, you could mention your face shape and let the people choose for you.
*
Yea how much would a pair of Clubmaster cost? And can I buy a frame from somewhere, then get the lenses done at an eye hospital perhaps?

I'm not really that deep into designs of glasses, so could u give me a link for those premium eyeglass makers u mean? And I think my face shape is oval/strong.

Just google Porsche Design, browse around. They tend to make very classic eyeglasses, conservative yet modern. Regarding the cost of Clubmasters, I would say you can get a discount of maybe 40% or more off RRP of rm650+. Be careful though, Ray Bans are known for being counterfeited.
You can always get the prescription glasses done separately, no problems with that. But maybe you'd have to look around, Clubmasters sold here only comes in 51 and quite big so maybe the lens could be a problem.
*
Thanks for the info. So eyeglasses are becoming more of a fashion accessory already isn't it? Even people who don't need to wear any glasses start wearing those plastic frames just to blend in. I hate those stereotype that think wearing glasses are for nerds or geeks. I have been wearing glasses for years and I think it makes me look pretty good. Doesn't mean I'm a geek/nerd or anything like that.

Yeah they are, the power of the mass media. Everyone thinks it's cool to sport a pair of acetates now. As for those who thinks glasses are for nerds, maybe they should turn the TV on or something. Last time I checked Jay-Z is far from a nerd. Silly primary school kids, he he!
*
What are acetates? Just recently watched a video from a famous Youtuber, and when he said that when he wear glasses and feel like a nerd, I felt something, lol. Not sure if he was just joking or it was for the sake of the video, but this stereotype has got to go man.

IMO, I just go to any trusted spectacles shop and choose a frame which looks nice to me and suits my face, regardless of the brand, but of course the total cost of the frames and lenses would amount to average RM300++ anyway. I don't necessarily just buy a branded spectacles just for the 'brand'.

thanks, 300++ is really acceptable,
just hope for quality + cheap lol..
will this price range means the spectacle spoiled easily?
really hope it last for years.. style isnt priority but the longevity for me.. smile.gif

maybe i can wait for another month to cash out more if the price is really worth the build & quality, thanks!

Yea, my specs is cheaper than those branded ones which can be more than RM1k, but feels quite quality as well. I don't really know about brands of spectacles anyway, so I just decide my spectacles based on the look and whether it fits my face. I don't think my spectacles spoil easily, it can last a few years, just that the words of the brand inside the frames can fade and come off over time.

Dont use these type of spectacle frame, your sweat evaporate and fog the lens easily unless there is enough of ventilation present.

Just choose those very elastic plastic frame which easily available in optical shop and get unbreakable lens.

Anyway, I found one shop selling at Midvalley.
They carry Rec Specs products from http://www.libertysport.com.

Price for frame: RM580. Price for lens (polycarbonate) : RM380.

There's this anti fog cream to apply on the lens, RM38 that can last for few months.

I explored many web stores and local retailers but never found any catchy stuff. Recently, I found a new online mega store for glasses that offers each and every kind of sun glasses, prescription glasses and designer eye wears by every brand at lower price. I tried and got best stuff.
Here is the direct link: buy prescription glasses online cheap

IC Berlin concept frame but this brand Varg is made of titanium, instead of stainless steel. More lasting than Ic berlin and lighter weight. 2013 collection frame, nice 1.

Price is way cheaper than Ic Berlin frame.

Few hundred ringgit cheaper at least.

I bought my ic berlin from my friend rm 1000 a frame, other shops quoted me same model ic berlin 1200.

Now i bought this titanium varg frame Rm 300-400 cheaper and it depends on model because those normal style 1 is only 650. Limited edition of course more costly la but still way lesser than 1k i spent on the stainless steel ic berlin.

Its best to get your eyes check before making a pair of glasses. Unless u already have a prescription, then u can order online but it has no warranty.

I can recommend my friends to you for good discount on glasses, which area u live in?

Rm 850 if i am not mistaken. You can negotiate with my optometrist friend if you make glasses with them.

I think it will be more expensive later because gucci supplier is going to increase price soon.

Guys sorry amateur here, only branded brands are being discussed?
if not, here my story..on my pre-plan to get myself a specs

i went to Pearle vision at SS15 Subang Jaya
told that guy my budget say 300-400
he then showed me this specs, which i kinda like it
not sure about its brand name..but saw a couple of keywords by its side Jpu 01,140,made in korea or was it japan, +Lab
after his typical aka kononnya give me discount on the specs after randomly pressing his calculator sweat.gif , he says best price is 480

i don't know where to begin, how much of bargain can i actually ask for?
the label on the specs itself shows 480 and then he said best price is 480? rclxub.gif

any advice on what should i do from here?
like = terus buy?
what should i check on?,what should I notice? what do I look for?...etc?

am just looking for a well, need not be the most trendy of specs..just something decent..for my everyday use..driving/watch tv etc

i thank you in advance for any advice notworthy.gif

Since you are in subang area, feel free to dropby my referral shop, eye check done by optometrists that previously worked in hospital, not optician in the shop you went to. No offence but I dont think optician is qualified to check eyes because in hospital, we dont work with any optician. there are only optometrist and ophthalmologist in all private and government hospital eye clinic.

Tell them you are referred by Jialat and ask for good discount and free contact lens if you interested to try, provided you buy glasses from them la. They doing good promotion on Rayban frame nowadays.

Of course, nowadays multicoated lens is very common and easier to take care. Only europe doing alot of uncoat lens because their multicoated lens cost a bomb. I made a pair in UK with price that easily i can get 3 pairs of same frame and lens here in malaysia.

Sorry i dont own any shop but i know quite many good optometrist around, where is your area? Some charge for eye check and selling quite expensive, but if you want cheap yet very good then you can go to my buddy shop in taipan subang jaya.

There are some that sell Tom Ford Optical Lines. Optical 88 (Pyramid,KLCC), Opulance/Focus Point (Pyramid,Pavilion) carry it. But i am not sure they got that specific one u stated. I guess u can check it out yourself.

As for mine, the frame cost about RM1300. and the lenses cost about RM700. But, with help from my friend, i got crazy discount. Total up i need to pay only RM1000. tongue.gif

Quality wise, Tom Ford is really top-notch in everything he did. Perfumes, Clothes, Sunglasses.

if you buy good frames & request a check before sending, unlikely will break, unless you mishandled or hit something which are not covered in warranties since it's wear & tear.

but if really got problem you have to send it back to the seller & seller will give you a replacement lo. you pay the postage to send back & seller post back to you, so i guess it's fair.

still cheaper alot la even if you send back few times.

usually for 1k frame can save rm200-300. more if it's off-season models.

my power is abt 100 degree.

i saw on tv abt a flexible super lightweight frame that is twistable and is from japan but i forgor the brand name, i like lightweight frame.

i thinking of buying a lens with Crizal and also with transition, any recommendation on lightweight frame and lens features mentioned above?

Expensive ones are have international warranty.
It's unusual to find manufacturing defects on frame.
No company is in the biz to sell u a defective goods to ruin their reputation not to mention wasted time and effort to handle RMA

I got my tag automatic frame for usd$280 online if go store closer to usd$400.
One can go store and test compare price b4 buying online

Hi jialat, I live at OUG and work at Mid Valley. Do you know any optometrist or store in either area? I'll have to travel by public transport so I don't know where that Subang Jaya shop is at to go there.

Would appreciate any info you can give.

Those optometrist working in shopping malls are usually inexperience and more business orientated. If just simple eye check, then u can walk into any optical shop and ask for optometrist, double check if they have a green color practicing license with the optometrist name on it.

Nowadays, only a few chain stores in those shopping mall are doing the real thing and authentic frame.

I personally find optical 88 and better vision in most of the malls are quite good, pricing is a bit steep but at least they are doing authentic stuff.

Worst feedback from customer are stores like focus point, england optical, MOG, 100 vision, and A-look. Their optician always prescribe wrong power, poor after sales service and their branded frame and sunglasses are not durable.

Tokai is 1 of the top range in ophthalmic lens now.

polarized lens itself is dark in color, not tinted.

Hi,

I bought this Emporio Armani specs original from Optical 88 not too long ago.
Very fast the paint peeling off already.
I ask the seller, she say all metal frames like that even if I buy Ray Bans. If want not peel, get a plastic spectacles.
Is that true? Or they gave me inferior product? Or the Emporio Armani brand memang like that?

Hi,

But everything about the specs seems original. The EA logo in the nose piece, made in Italy, the model etc.
Just that, very fast the color peeling off only.

My frame 'Samsung'. And cheapo mc lense. Less than 200.

For spec, brand is not important. As long as comfortable to wear, correct size and shape and if wear full face helmet consider frame that slim and sit well on the nose and ears

Hi guys,

wanted to post here; https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1271520/all but decided to post here instead.

I just ordered a pair of prescription eyeglasses which includes;

-Hoya lenses
-Transition
-The usual coatings ( i think hmm.gif )

without frame the price of a pair of lenses is RM570...If i get the 'house brand' lens would be cheaper around 4xx

When I go to Hoya (after picking up) just like gatal tangan and browse Hoya website and found out there is many variants of Hoya lenses, and wanted to know which type is mine. I open the case that comes with the purchase, and found that the Hoya Lens Quality Card has nothing written that may indicate what type of Hoya lens. And there is no Transition card, only the Hoya card.

the card looks like this (but with QR code on the top left of the card);

MALAYSIAN HOYA LENS SDN BHD

I managed to take pics of the Order form and below are the boxes ticked;

Lenses Specifications:
Material: CR39
Type: SV
Treatment: M/C/UV
Pigment: Transition

Spectacle Prescription :

RIGHT
SPH : PL
CYL : - 0.25
AXIS : 85
VA : 6/6

LEFT
SPH : +0.50
CYL : -1.00
AXIS : 90
VA : 6/6

Apart from going all the way back to the shop, is there any way to know what type of Hoya lens I got on my prescription glasses? icon_question.gif And the transition from clear to dark took on my glasses is a bit longer to turn dark as compared to my friend's Carl Zeiss transition. And mine doesn't turn dark while driving cry.gif

Is Zeiss transition (or Essilor or Nikon or Transition themselves) better than a Hoya made ones? Is transition a coating of the lens itself? if yes, then maybe someone can recommend me a reputable shop which provides the best description on what we are paying. The shop I went was less informative regarding what type, and only focus on what brand. I'll maybe get rid of this 3 day year lens and go for a pair of better ones if needed.

My last pair was 4 years ago and that was in-house lenses.

Yes can get in subang but the new series of clubmaster is more expensive than old version because rayban used a better material nowadays.

Hoya lens is overrated and overpriced, they are made in kepong or thailand if they claimed is oversea. Their coating peel off easily, and their latest blue control coat made many drivers suffer while driving at night. Shops like to sell it because high profit margin and hoya offer shops free oversea tour and fitter incentive. RM 570 you paid can easily get a mid index crizal forte transition 7, super fast in changing color and very good coating. But it wont turn dark in car unless u buy a more expensive transition xtra active.

There's 2 type of Hoya color changeable lens
Hoya SunTech and Hoya Transitions

Suntech is cheaper than Transitions , current Transitions already go to 7th generation , which is darker compare to Trasitions 6th gen ,
and both product Would NOT change colour behind Windshield (inside car)
there's only Transitions Xtractive will change colour behind windshield .
user posted image

About your second question , doesn't matter which lens brand like Zeiss/Nikon/Essilor/Hoya , as long they're using * Transitions * , colour change will be same . (Transitions is own private technology , which sub their technology to lens manufacturer like zeiss/nikon/essilor/hoya etc , so the appearance of end product will be same )

base on this certified card
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

you probably got Suntech = Photochromic lens instead of Transitions lens .
if base on my HOYA price list ,
yours product is 1.50 NULUX Transitions HVP Coat which is RRP570 .
and it's possible some dishonest optical shop they give u cheaper product while it has same functions .

anyway my shop at KL setapak here, feel free to come over smile.gif

-All coating ahh?
-Want can go dark wan when under sunlight?
-Total price

Never b4 I came across a shop which when from step 1 you wanna do glasses, the tell you which brand/technologies to choose from.... laugh.gif If frame yes...spring or no spring, gold or titanium or plastic or magenesium? But lenses no cry.gif

aiyah 99% of the customers oso didn't bother asking which lens they will get then why bother explaining right? tongue.gif

QUOTE(Hunakadoo @ Jul 20 2014, 11:12 AM)

Owh thanks for the clarification. Dun want to jump to any conclusions yet.

I maybe get other shops or you yourself to have a look at my glasses...I dun ask a single cent discount when purchasing as me myself in the sales line, I understand that paying full advertise or discounted price is the best price... BUT if I get the lesser product sweat.gif , then I'm just unlucky lor... paid edi...what can I do...just blacklist lor the shop... Make noise oso no use whistling.gif

Suntech pun suntech lah... But if turns out I did get the Suntech then a bit dissapointed lah becoz I specifically said and written in the order form "Transition" doh.gif

Dont waste money changing another spec now since u just made it but if the vision is poor then u should go back to get it changed or refund, otherwise u can complain to malaysian optical council and get that fellow summon and license hang. I know quite many enforcers and they love catching unqualified opticians. They closed down an optical shop in port dickson in year 2010 because the optician sold contact lens without license. After that, they summoned a chain store also.

Hi all sifus,

first time post in this thread. Should have search here 1st before i went and bought my glasses from M.O.G. Klang Parade. Have gotten so much info reading though this thread.

I bought for frame a ic berlin arne for rm1.2k and lens all i know is 1.67 transition hoya lens for rm1.3k.

Is the price ok? And what should i look for when i collect my glasses, warranty card, etc.. How to know if my frame is genuine?

Btw, my power is right 500 left 400, astg right 300 left 400. (i dunno if you guys need this info or not)

And sorry f i ask any noob question. This is my 1st 'expensive' glasses. previously all also cap ayam frame and normal lens.

Thanks guys.

Check out rayban rb 8301 004/40, silver mirror reflective coat with silver frame and carbon fiber leg.

If u want normal metal leg, then rb 3362 003/40, silver mirror reflective lens and frame.

8313 sold out.

Does anyone know where I can find Pince Nez spectacles in Msia? Basically these are frameless and "kaki-less" spectacles. Just like Morpheus' in Matrix, but not the sunglasses version. Thanks!

It would be nice to have two though, one for casual and one for kinda smart. Didnt want to buy another one and planning on painting it, if anyone got any idea on how to paint, do let me know.

Thanks.

Hoya Nulux EP with HVLL or Zeiss Superd with Duraplatinum is better in terms of FOV and clarity? 1.67 index.

And also, which one is better for night drive? I find glaring light reflected to me is very disturbing.

U should go for Varg eyewear, same concept as ic berlin but much cheaper price and its made of beta titanium that is flexible and super light weight. Usj optometrist has them on sale now, much better quality.

A question for optometrists and eyewear enthusiasts alike.
You usually hear like, the temples can be bent and adjusted. Also the nose pads. But here's the thing. Does it matter if the eyeglass frame doesn't really feel right off the bat and adjustments should be made before it's comfortable? Or should you only purchase frames which fit comfortably right from the start?

best to choose 1 frame that fit well in the 1st place, rather than taking risk hoping the shop people can adjust well.

better try it on face, it seems to sit on the nose bridge, it will leave a deep mark on nose if your lens is heavy.

Temple curve might not be adjusted right for your ear. The curve has to lie on top of your ears, and the tail end kept away from the bone behind your ears. Try to adjust it gently and see if the pain persists.

Dont need to pay so much for that kind of 1 to 1 quality lah bro. Authentic rayban all come with 2 years warranty. Those giving u only 1 year or lesser warranty are fake.

I think authentic RayBans are more or less below rm400 for clubmasters, if you know where to look. But for that price and their quality, not really worth. Great hinges though.

Depends on your frame size. There are some calculators on the internet that can calculate the thickness at the edge given the index. 1.67 IMO quite thick if your frame is above 50.
