please use logical side of your brain about some information. No everything you hear or read is real.

Obviously something like this is not possible or else apple will get lawsuit from everywhere in the world.

Does Apple really into that? I doubt that. Is there any way to JB 3GS 3.1.2 without blackra1n, I really hate tethered JB everytime the iPhone reboot in the new bootrom like mine. dev team is far more better than geo hot regarding JB. Wish dev team release the REAL JAILBREAK for 3GS 3.1.2 new bootrom. I wait for untethered JB, I must satisfy with the JAILED one.. sigh.

Added on January 15, 2010, 9:56 amCan I say the main thing we do jailbreaking is we can do and put anything almost everything in our iPhone n iPod touch at EASE. If we JAILED to connect our 'beloved-apple-iPhone' to our computer every time it on/off or reboot, then where is the real jailbreak?? logically to me we STILL JAILED! I wish you guys really know what I'm pointing at.

Thanks

boss, i'll suggest u to do sm background reading and then decide what u hv 2 say..no offence...
just a quick search wud give u hundreds of results which not one indicates apple is behind the worm..
however the person responsible for the worm was later given a job at a company developing apps...smile.gif

to be frank.. was kinda getting lost thr but i understand ur statement...
geo and dev team are not enemies of any sort..they are all working hard for the perfect jb solutions for all users..
n dun forget, geo was the one who found the exploit for the previous bootrom and also came up with the simplest jailbreak solution yet... thumbup.gif

i wanted to type out the answer..but i found again Google had answers...
QUOTE
A tethered jailbreak means you cannot boot (turn on the iphone) without connecting it to a computer. Untethered means the iphone jailbreak is independent of computer, and it can boot all by its lonesome self.

There are no advantages to a tethered jailbreak, its just that when the developers release these applications, the tethered ones come first, then the untethered

You don't have to worry about that, it's bcoz you restored the back up from the jailbreaked ones. It doesn't make anything to any functionality, coz I'm using the new 3gs after restoring from my old jailbreaked 3g, yes we have something in common lol. you can change to it's original setting by restoring your original firmware. guess you know how to do that if you read all the pages of this thread.

Just come out of my mind, I can't sleep right now.. We're jailbreaking our iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) with blackra1n method indeed the simplest way, yet bears us another problem, it's kinda like major headache waiting to happen. Why I said that, well iPhone, iPod touch and nano use flash drive as their internal memory. The number of write cycles to any block of flash is limited - and once you've used up your quota for that block - that's it! The datas can become unreliable. Some allow 1 million write or erase cycles and have a 10-year data retention cycle. Yes there is a fixed number of write/erases that flash type device can perform but it is in the order of 1000 to 100,000's based on a reliability factor. When the device detects a bad bit then that sector is added to its internal register so as not to be used ever. All that will happen as the iPhone size will decrease even after restoring to its original setting like firmware etc., not in a close time tho. But, in general, because of the "limited number of write cycles" for flash type device such as iPhone, use it wisely. Okay, back to what I said earlier, when we accidentally or purposely reboot our iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) with blackra1n method it backs to unjailbroken, we need to re- jailbreak in order to get the apps and everything back to normal after the jailbroke. sometimes we get DFU mode or Apple logo spinning or anything in the process of re jailbrake or any possible thing can happen. There must be detected some bad sector by the device in this case iPhone. Even after re jailbraking it we need to sync every apps back again. We accidentally vulnerable to what may happen with our iPhone, we're cycling it faster. Yet some mobile phones sellers offering jailbreak service 3GS with blackra1n method for RM80!! Well, just a thought okay. Gotta sleep now.

bro, no offense but i'm seriously having doubts on what you're high on when you're typing your piece of opinion. Let's just put your numbers into perspectives.

1 million write or erase cycles and have a ten-year data retention cycle, yes there's a lifespan for flashdrives I agree, however I would like to have the source where you pull those particular numbers from.

Furthermore, let's just assume that if you are going to run blackra1n every other day during a period of 365 days per year. How many years do you need to just render your iphone flashdrive useless if we are taking account the numbers you allegedly said on your previous statement.

Furthermore, with the new bootrom, every restart will force you into restore mode, which is well apple way of showing the finger to the jailbreaking community, if you do not want any difficulties from jailbreaking, just don't jailbreak your phone. It is as simple as that.

One last thing, the read and write thingy doesn't even apply to your blackra1n theory, as blackra1n is just a tool to inject a certain package which would be just a few hundred kb tops via the exploit geohot had discovered. It doesn't even need you to restore, hence making your argument pretty baseless I must say.

Fellow old timers could chip in from what I've missed, but these are just my two cents worth of opinion.

Heck, even my mbp advertises it have 1000 life cycle for its battery, but i'm still charging it everyday as 1000 life cycle equals to three years worth of good battery life. So what do you think if we are to be conservative and just set your number you alleged to 1,000,000, to put it simply, do you even think that the phone will last you that long? Let's just say 10 years? laugh.gif

Just look back and tell me the evolution of telecommunication devices for the past decade (2001-2010). I still remember fondly my days in seconday school days where nokia 3310 and 8250 are gadgets only the sons and daughters of elites have.

Sorry to say but what you are trying to throw here are just pure bollocks man.

Nice, thank you for your response rclxms.gif . But pure bollocks ? Ouch, tongue.gif maybe I'm little too conservative about that but I came out without something amigo. Of course I got the sources needed, I wouldn't let my friends helping me on my thoughts in the US worth for nothing, bollocks. He's working in one of the flash drive company and the other is a computer programmer buddy. Anyway, you're making us look silly with this. Once again, thank you.

how convenient to have a buddy and a friend around eh, this is when hearsay becomes no say.
I have a buddy, he claims he can produce carbon fiber car products in his own house, oh ya he's in the forums too, his name is johnkor. *insert sarcasm*

perhaps maybe your friend, uncle google could give us some numbers for a further debate.

I'm not making anyone look silly here, but you are making yourself sound silly.
