I'm not sure about LCD TV price nowadays but good one with Full HD is RM3k+ at least?

If you don't mind about TN panel, ST2410 is way to go, HDMI support... exactly for Home entertainment, CCFL backlight.
U2410 however is IPS so expect price difference from TN and you can't compare TN and IPS, IPS for teh pro (in graphics).

Anyway if you have many people watching, go for LCD TV for the sake of size.
*
If LCD TV, I'll be opting for around 40". That's an item in my long-term list, but not necessary for the moment. How soon will the item reach or whether it will reach or not, also not necessary since my point for LCD TV just enjoyment of HD videos and PS3 which currently laid upon my HP LP2475w IPS LCD.

I'm just opting for an extra LCD because not all days I'll be at home. On working days, I'll be staying outside and that's the plan for the LCD to be there, PS3 purpose.

Beside ST2410, is there any other comparable LCD in the same league for 1080p display? Any Samsung's perhaps? hmm.gif

Dilemma here...

Just bought a PS3 recently and planning to buy another LCD to hook it up on.

Currently I'm using HP LP2475w which is an IPS panel. I hooked up my PS3 on it and it just works brilliantly.

I'm wondering whether to pick just a good affordable ST2410 or another premium alike U2410 for my PS3 experience. But giving the premium price for U2410, I can actually save and head for larger LCD TV.

ST2410 or U2410 now? Hmm...
*
for the price and the purpose....seriously go for LCD TV. especially since u planning on 40" above. id recommend u save the money and go with the LCD TV. in the meantime just use the current LCD monitor til uve managed to get the TV.

Hmm... then says I would get a decent and budget LCD for my PS3 at the moment. Would ST2410 be the best pick around or any comparable contender from Samsung, etc? LED backlite from Samsung or Acer?

Seriously LCD TV will be quite a long way for me to make it up now. I'm just opting to get a display so I can play PS3 on my working days too, which will be placed at the place I'm living during working days smile.gif

ST2410 would get my vote then....bang for buck...but purely for display only...

unless u need built in speakers than the ST2410 is out of the list as it doesnt have any.

Well, I already expected display only be display and no audio. I'll look into alternative speaker for the audio part.

ST2410? Alright, lets see if there's any pretty bargain for ST2410 during PC Fair smile.gif

Samsung LED back-light are still far expensive, I would get Dell G2410H but not for everyone due to lack of HDMI port.

And, as far as I have seen, the Samsung TN panel quality is getting poorer by the day, maybe due to manufacturing cost, it's getting cheaper.

If you want to get Samsung, go for the latest LED back-light, around RM1,000 and the display is a wonder.

I have no recommendation of Acer product, since it has bad reputation (never have one before) and the review also very bad.

My personal opinion, the stand is fugly, like lizard with elephant leg.

I actually tried out the XL2370 at one cyber-cafe nearby my area laugh.gif. I didn't notice it was LED till I noticed the LED word on the bezel and then the contrast really significant. Colour reproduction wise, far matching my current running IPS in my room tongue.gif

As most people said, for LED, you'll see BLACK (Dark) colours are darker while WHITE (Bright) colours are brighter. I couldn't notice much different between LED and normal CCFL backlite then. Ouch, unless mentioning CCFL bleeding, that is inevitable.

XL2370 vs ST2410... Samsung doesn't produce any 24" LED backlite yet? huh.gif

Yups, its possible depending on the brand and model itself. Should have at least VGA input. nod.gif

Just a PC with VGA and/or HDMI output. Again depends on the brand and model fo the LCD TV itself. Usually cheap 32" LCD TVs have low resolution (around 1366x768 only), while more expensive "1080p HD" ones (usually 37" and bigger) have higher resolution (ie. 1920x1080).  hmm.gif
*
I'm wondering did any of u guys use a 32" Full HD LCD TV as a the primary monitor? i'm wondering will it degrade text quality? i can't get a chance to see the result myself. i understand watching movie and gaming shall work fantastic but what about text display and long hour staring at it? I'm planning myself an upgrade either to go for samsung 27" or samsung LCD TV 32" which will cost double... i know...
btw, 32" will be max for my setup and i won't go anything beyond that scale biggrin.gif

i've 32" fullhd hook with my pc, so far so good. since i only use to watch movies, i haven't notice any low quality in text, unless watching closely which i'm sure it pretty bad for our eyes.

the only problem is due to the driver. if u using lcd tv with pc, no proper driver is installed. it only use generic/default driver for monitor, so there is nothing u can do to adjust the setting to make it look perfect, for an example, i only have 1 choice which is set the tv setting to "PC mode". if i change to something else, or change each parameters individually, i will get crappy image quality... it mean, the PC mode that i use is an optimum setting or i can say the best i can get if i'm hooking my tv with pc...

If the LCD TV is full HD (1920x1080) then it would look very much like any (huge) computer LCD monitor. However if its the non-HD ones (1366x768) then the text looks rather large and blocky/pixelated (due to the pixel size). wink.gif

wat lex said is true.... the bolded part...

i use a 42" HD Ready Plasma on my HTPC and text is blurry. readable but still blurry.

but personally to me...if u want a monitor...buy a monitor. not a TV. better response time etc.

Hehe, both of us were kinda popular in Edifier's thread back then tongue.gif. Many people remember us actually due to that conversation about R501 MK-II laugh.gif doh.gif

I'm still waiting for PC Fair to see if Dell would actually giving out any extra discount to their ST2410, perhaps by then I'll make my definite decision about getting ST2410 smile.gif

Actually, Plasma would be better off than LED LCD for big screenie? unsure.gif

I would actually love to upgrade my R501 MK-II, but the current setting already over-kill for my small room biggrin.gif. Unless my plan to refurnish my living room arrived, I'll just stick with the R501 MK-II at the moment.

Neither way, at the moment it is impossible to find a LCD-TV that can actually produce the sharpness for text of a LCD monitor. Unless you use your display only for the big object in display such as gaming, watching video, etc. It's still recommended to get LCD monitor for text displaying purpose like viewing word, pdf, etc.

thanks for for all the feedback guys.... bro mADmAN just reminded me about 1 important item = response time... i totally forgotten about it. LCD TV spec usually never tell about the response time and we can't tell how well it goes. i guess this will only filter to 1 option = Samsung 2770 biggrin.gif and save me 1k. Saving $$ time become shorter.. lolz.. was planning 4 months to save up.. now i think only require 2 months tongue.gif
