If you used to IPS panel color, and when you look at TN... you'll regret selling your IPS, believe me the color accuracy is noticeable.

If you don't mind the color thing, and want it for gaming and movie only then it's ok to consider TN panel.
But if you photoshop lot, need very precise color on the screen, consider 24" IPS panel.

Does any PC shop at KL display IPS panel on the shelve? I would be WOW!
Anyhow, you won't feel much different if you just watching movie.
My cheapo Samsung 2333SW does below average, acceptable for gaming and movie. wink.gif

Backlit bleeding, my Samsung 2333SW also having quite bleed at both side only, but those salesman told me every model beyond 20 inch will have this kind of problem =.=;; aih.. cheapo model... no comment T.T;;

But I do notice those LED backlit has less bleed problem, like Dell G2410. Maybe spend more to get LED backlit? 0.0"

Oh.. maybe in normal office light condition, you see no problem, like how I make a decision on the Samsung 2333SW, was pure regret.
The backlit bleed only shows when you in a dark room and watching "dark" movie, very noticeable.
If you search for G2410 reviews, you'll actually notice one review, the author called Dell 3 times to exchange the monitor and still the same problem, backlit bleeding, very very small but noticeble in a dark room.
I do notice some of the very expensive model (Samsung) also having backlit bleeding when I take a very close look, 2~3 inches away when the screen turn dark or black.
Some ppl said it's due to the contract and brightness setting? You can try it out with less brightness and see the different.
Oh yeah, my previous 19" has totally no backlit bleed, so to my surprise first time with 23"

If i'm changing from H233H to ST2410, will it be an upgrade or just the same? Cause I'm not used to glossy brite screen.
*
Matte screen does not reflect too much lightning, which is great for watching movie, while I don't see much effect from my glossy laptop screen, the only complain is glossy screen can't really work on a too bright condition, ex. under sun light.
And from experience and googling, you might notice better dark color on matte screen.
Size wise is only up by 0.6~1 inch, which I don't think has much different.

QUOTE(soundsyst64 @ Mar 30 2010, 01:30 PM)
I bought Samsung B2230H a few weeks back and notice a backlight bleeding when in dark. When I compared side by side with my old LG 2252TQ, LG performs better with very minimal backlight bleeding.
*
May I know the price and date that you purchase both of those. Probably Samsung one is cheapo... that's why it's not so good doh.gif sweat.gif

Can you use camera (without flashlight and night mode) to post the picture of your monitor here? Allow the room to be as dark as possible, no light better.
Use screensaver with blank screen mode.

I'll post mine tonight... hehe... hopefully I don't forget.

And that's LED back-lit right? Have seen G2410 before but... really like to see the result of LED back-lit from Acer.

Anyway, CNET gave a very bad reviews to this model... no offence unsure.gif

hmm.. i paid RM750 for p2370H. Not cheap.... Didnt expect it to have backlight bleeding prob, since the reviews I read online before I buy the monitor are all praises and thumbs up for this monitor.

Kinda disappointed with the backlight bleeding when I tested it on the first night  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif

hunted high and low for this phased out model!
Now worried if I take back to change and get a worse one...
Its has like about 1.5cm of halo border / inner glow from top and bottom of the screen  dry.gif
*
Yeah, that's the expression I have on my 2333SW, I was like... WHAT THE.... *CENSORED*, like almost every single bad words came out, and only went back to shop after 2 days, and they said can't 1-on-1 exchange after 1 day, oh dear... then I also have a look at the very same model, having the same issue too, just need to look very carefully and very near to notice it. This same goes to every P series that they have on shelve, most expensive P2370 also same doh.gif

Also looking from the side of 2333SW with black screen, notice also brightness does not distribute evenly across screen, advertised 5ms is actually 16ms upon using LCD tester..... sigh... I can only comment, that's what you get for what you paid T.T

Was looking forward the stylish XL2370, but... no VGA port, which I want for my Intel Atom (switch between use).

It seems Samsung has develop cheaper TN with the expenses of build quality, wish they improve on that, and also, legacy VGA port should be there to accommodate wider consumer (hey, I still using VGA card duh!!)

Hard to find any brand of that size with your budget, I'm referring from PC Zone March 26 price list.

Top up RM200 more to get LED back-light, will not disappoint you.

Or, pull down to 20" and you should find lots of model on RM400 price range.

Should you able to wait, PIKOM is just around the corner, you *maybe able to find cheaper one.

Among ViewSonic VX2433wm(23.6'') ,Samsung 2494HS(23.6'') and acer led S243HL(24'') , which 1 should be chosen for gaming and movies??

i heard some bad reviews about 2494hs's screen adjusting problem and also acer s243hl's disadvantages and i dont know anything about viewsonic's product at all.

anyone can give me some hints for buying a 23.6/24" lcd monitor? (budget: below RM800)

(too bad acer h243hx isnt available in malaysia at the moment T.T)

How about Dell ST2410? It has all the ports HDMI, VGA & DVI, but only come with VGA cables, maybe you can find 1 with bundle DVI cable and better price locally, online price is RM679.

any of you connect a LCD TV BOX to your monitor?

Am planning to buy the TV BOX but a bit puzzle on the connection.
My LCD have VGA & DVI ports.
My CPU only have 1 VGA port.

How am I going to connect both ( CPU & TV BOX ) to my LCD monitor?
*
Tell us your monitor model, depends on the monitor, it might have 1 VGA and 1 DVI, so you can connect your PC to the VGA port and your TV Box to the DVI port.
But according to my friend whom using LG LCD Monitor, it has both DVI and VGA port but you can't change during use (no function to switch), and so you can only use 1 port at any 1 time.

Hi, can someone tell me which is the best monitor among the following? Dell G2410, 2209WA, HP 2309M, Acer H233H/ S243HL, and Samsung B2430H/ P2450H. I'm planning to get a monitor for my workstation/entertainment rig, so would like to know which monitor from the above will be the better option for me. Thanks.
*
If you don't mind there's no HDMI, just VGA and DVI, then go for Dell G2410, now the latest model even has HAS stand, not just tilt, can adjust height... cool!
It's the cheapest for LED backlight LCD TN panel.

Ok. But performance wise, is the G2410 the best among the few?

"Dell G2410, 2209WA, HP 2309M, Acer H233H/ S243HL, and Samsung B2430H/ P2450H"
*
Yes, according to review at CNet.
http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/dell-...7-33581193.html

The contrast and brightness even win the later Acer S243HL which is also LED back-light, and better than its brother Ultrasharp 2408WFP.
The rest is practically very technical and only *eagle* eye can catch those differences.
Now Dell already face out this model and replace it with G2410H, of which has HAS stand just like its Ultrasharp's brothers.

Just wish Dell could put more oomph to its response rate, 5ms after so many years... even Samsung already has 2ms for its 23~24" model last year.

Dilemma here...

Just bought a PS3 recently and planning to buy another LCD to hook it up on.

Currently I'm using HP LP2475w which is an IPS panel. I hooked up my PS3 on it and it just works brilliantly.

I'm wondering whether to pick just a good affordable ST2410 or another premium alike U2410 for my PS3 experience. But giving the premium price for U2410, I can actually save and head for larger LCD TV.

ST2410 or U2410 now? Hmm...
*
I'm not sure about LCD TV price nowadays but good one with Full HD is RM3k+ at least?

If you don't mind about TN panel, ST2410 is way to go, HDMI support... exactly for Home entertainment, CCFL backlight.
U2410 however is IPS so expect price difference from TN and you can't compare TN and IPS, IPS for teh pro (in graphics).

Anyway if you have many people watching, go for LCD TV for the sake of size.

Sifus,

Can I confirm the combination of radeon4670 + Dell 24" full HD monitor?

I read here that if monitor too powerful, GC will be overloaded (and vice-versa). Budget constraint and I've just changed into 4670, so I dont have the money to switch GS again.

Alternative, if got other suggestion for monitor, please let me know smile.gif

I'm currently using a 15/16" viewsonic lcd monitor

TQ

Dell 24" Full HD monitor

HIS5670 spec (for comparision)
*
I'm using Intel Atom N270 VGA connect to my Samsung 2333SW (1920x1080).
I must say, lag? nope, game? certainly no... I don't play games using integrated graphics.

So, to conclude your frustration, the answer is "there's no constraint or overload" unless you're using 20 years old Intel Pentium II integrated graphics.

Hmm... then says I would get a decent and budget LCD for my PS3 at the moment. Would ST2410 be the best pick around or any comparable contender from Samsung, etc? LED backlite from Samsung or Acer?

Seriously LCD TV will be quite a long way for me to make it up now. I'm just opting to get a display so I can play PS3 on my working days too, which will be placed at the place I'm living during working days smile.gif
*
Samsung LED back-light are still far expensive, I would get Dell G2410H but not for everyone due to lack of HDMI port.

And, as far as I have seen, the Samsung TN panel quality is getting poorer by the day, maybe due to manufacturing cost, it's getting cheaper.

If you want to get Samsung, go for the latest LED back-light, around RM1,000 and the display is a wonder.
http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/samsu...7-33683882.html

I have no recommendation of Acer product, since it has bad reputation (never have one before) and the review also very bad.
http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/acer-...9.html?tag=also
My personal opinion, the stand is fugly, like lizard with elephant leg.

G2410H is using LED backlight, better contrast & brightness for darn sure, picture quality and color wise still pretty much the same, it's still TN panel in case you're wondering.
If you want reviews, try google "CNET reviews G2410" (older model w/o the HAS stand).
Ah, yes, if you want HDMI, better skip this, only VGA and DVI.

LED backlight advantage noted. Reason i ask cause i narrowed down to this 2 monitors in term of budget and i am really curious are they the same with color and image quality. I dont mind bout the hdmi not using them anyway. However one last question before placing order
i) Does the G2410H has a reflective screen till can see face and florescent glare or it is identical to ST2410 screen? hmm.gif

ii) How comman is it TN LED backlight monitor to have dead pixel compared to TN CCFL monitors?
PS: Hope to see zombie post some pictures of the G2410H he ordered & really bosong lo pay money but monitor can have dead pixel, and money no grow on tree le DELL!  doh.gif
*
i) I have seen G2410 before, nope, no reflective screen like their laptop do.

ii) Dead pixel does not matter backlight, it's the LCD panel that matter, so backlight does not concern.
Dead pixel(s) usually depends on your luck, and Dell can do 1-on-1 exchange by deliver it to your door step, so I won't worry about Dell's services, and if you're going to keep more than 3 years, get 5 years warranty from them.

This model does receive a darn good review, you won't regret, I want to get one too but due to budget and already has 1 stupid purchase and now can't sell it cry.gif

Oh yeah, anyone here has Dell IPS and Dell G2410*? Compare for us ler, I want to see the different, or drool.gif on it. (Picture, of course)
