guys....im considering getting a 24" monitor to replace my superb Samsung 226BW....can anyone recommend me something better or as good as the 226bw? ive been out of touch with LCDs for quite awhile

main purpose will be for gaming...

requirements:
1/ Budget Below 700....can mebbe add a LITTLE bit only
2/ BLACK...full black design would be much better...dont mind if theres small amounts of other colors...like the silver line at the bottom of the 226BW
3/ as little ghosting as possible (better response time?)
4/ must have DVI input at least...got HDMI oso ok.
5/ dun wan built in speakers
6/ the on/off button...prefer something thats not bright. or no light when its on standby.

thats all i can think of for now.

so throw me ur suggestions....planning to buy in january after bonus comes out biggrin.gif

and whats the warranty policy like for Dell monitors?

the Samsung, kinda read a not-so-good review and it turned me off...

anymore suggestions? wat about the AOC? is it any good?

eh....that dell U2410 and SS P2370 not using same panel , cant compare , not in same price range also  laugh.gif
*
not talking about the U2410 la bro....

talking about the ST2410

also....does the ST2410 has VESA mounts? was thinking of getting a desk mount for the new LCDs.

if not...any other alternatives that has VESA mounts? not a priority...but it would be really nice to have.

*
something like that....but depends on the type of mounts... wall mount or desk mount

QUOTE(cucubud @ Dec 20 2009, 05:45 PM)
DVI cable is only RM8 (bought it from a shop in Subang Parade).
For Dell warranty claim, I think they will send their appointed technician to your house to check the faulty unit.
*
i know about the cheap DVI cable...i just think something as simple as it should have been supplied together.

i also know about dell coming to the house... wat i meant was things like dead pixels etc...i remember samsung must have 7 dead pixels. wat about dell?

Where can I get it with this price?Online price is RM1799.
*
whoops...ur right.... must have had my mind on something else when i typed the 1.3k tongue.gif

anyway.... need some help with comparisons...

1/ main usage will be for gaming....
2/ will be buying 2 for a dual monitor setup to be able to do work at home.
3/ work tends to involve ALOT (98% of the time) of spreadsheets, excel and SPSS data (which looks like excel sometimes)
4/

AOC 2434Pw vs Dell ST2410

AOC 2434Pw
- 23.6" viewing area
- 2ms (GTG)
- 60000:1 (DCR)
- dunno got anti glare or not
- height adjustable
- Easily available almost everywhere including garage sales
- 3 year warranty
- good aftersales support?
- not all black
- price between RM650-685

Dell ST2410
- 24" viewing area
- 5ms (?T?)
- 50000:1 (DCR)
- anti glare
- no height adjustable
- can only order from Dell, abit leceh
- 3 year warranty, if willing to pay more can get up to 5 years
- all black front, rear is white and out of view so no issue
- RM699

dell's 24" viewing area is really tempting...could use as much space as possible to display my work...

but wat about the 5ms thing? i remember reading somewhere a long time ago that dell has a tendency of under rating their response rate. so 5ms dell is like 2ms to other brands or something like that...is this true?

so pls...share ur thoughts.

I would recommend AOC 2434pw because i using it and quite satisfy lol. Provide on site service if within klang valley area. Heard from some forumer after sales service is good. Juz note that AOC only got HDMI and RGB input. Why dont u buy both? since u need 2 lol. And can tell us after u compare.
*
buying 2 different monitors for work will suck so badly....

imagine pulling ur excel sheet over the 2 monitors...then all of a sudden ur rows ciao coz monitor stand/size is different....

been there...hate that.

anyway.... HDMI n RGB only? crap... means i have to buy DVI - HDMI converters..

but with the dell i have to buy DVI cables coz it only comes with RGB cables doh.gif

oh yeah... as a side note...anyone knows of any other good monitors below RM700 with VESA mounts?

After your payment is verified, three business days for monitors and other peripherals, depending on stock availability.

And about a week or two for laptops and desktops.

cool thanks....

will be getting the ST2410 as u recommended...notworthy.gif

Hello, I would like to know what is the best monitor for me.  It's a birthday present for myself  biggrin.gif

So, here are the specs that i want.

Use for -Gaming(PS3,360,PC), and everything that a pc could do.

Size -20"-32"

Slots -HDMI(PS3),DVI(PC)

Extras (No prob if tak ada) -[B]Speakers of course
  biggrin.gif

Price -Not too high, not too low. If can, a budget one.

Sorry if i said anything wrong.. hehe.. TQ!  thumbup.gif
*
u wan a budget one but ur range of monitor size is so wide...

as for ur budget...not too high and not too low is not a budget... a budget is exact numbers... so give exact numbers on how much u have to spend on the monitor.

agreed

bigger monitor = bigger resolution = more sweat for the gc.

imho, try to play at stock settings but at native resolution i.e. 1680*1050 with ur current 22"
