It's a credit card.
Nope. I used to use debit card to book hotel room a few years back (didn't have a credit card then) and i was billed the exact amount. So will be your case.
If you stay there for 2 nights, then you will be charged only RM800 and that't it.
Yes. You will need to bring cash as well for security deposit. Money will be refunded to you on the day you check-out. Have a pleasant trip  smile.gif

hey guys,

i would like to get clarification regarding debit card.

I am currently using HLB ATM debit card.
Few days back, i went to a restaurant and i used my debit card to pay the bill.

i always thought that in order for them to settle the bill with my debit card, they will required me to key in the password.

But surprisingly, the transaction are able to go through without my password.

So guys, is it true that debit card does not come together with password? I felt insecure with this, as all cash money is inside that account.

hope someone could help to explain on this.
thank you in advance.

I had that too with my PBB esso with a site. A forumer said the merchant can opt not to use the password. Defeats the purpose of password if you ask me.

actually, it is depends on what the cashier select/press at the merchant terminal;

if the cashier select ATM, then u need to enter the PIN.
if the cashier select Credit, then no need to enter PIN, it will be same as credit card, will approved if have enough balance.

even Maybank Visa Debit if choose ATM will also need to enter PIN ~

Questions are as above, i am using my Mbb Cherry Visa Debit card (or aka my atm card) to pump fuel. As usually i charge RM40 for Ron95 + RM5 for Ron 97 in both separate bills (Ron 97 Cannot claim, so therfore paid myself), and don't ask why i Mix both fuels for what reason and so for smile.gif.

So the problems are as below, On 23rd April 2011 i have Pumped the fuel @ Esso, RM40 for Ron 95 Approved, and pumped, BUT after that i slot in the card again, preset to RM5 to be used for R0n97, and sales approved, and the smiles card was also swipped.

Now, the problem happens, where the Pump for Ron97 somehow Went hairwire, and therefore it refuses to pump out fuel. the Figures @ the pump has been resetted into RM 0.00 and same goes to the .Litre -> 0.00...

So therefore, after checking with the attendents, it says the pump rosak, therefore i have decided to put the pump back, and @ the screen, it says "Sales Cancelled", and return back to main menu.

Based on this, i believe the sales has been canceled, and i will not be charged anything, But until now (28/4/2011), i still haven't got back the RM5, while for Petronas (Ron97) Rm8 (Pumped at the same day of when i pump Esso, but in the evening) has been cleaered and the RM200 pre auth has been cleared and back to my account on the next day (24th april 2011)

Do advice if there's any way to ask the bank to verify the particular transaction?

That is not true. Obviously they put his debit card on the unlimited withdrawal option, hence the deduction of RM8 from his account. This is not a one-time payment but the annual fee for the debit card. Should he stay on this unlimited withdrawal option, another RM8 will be deducted from his Maybank account at this time of the year next year.

if u do not need the unlimited withdrawal option, go back to that branch and tell them clearly
ask them to credit back the RM8
