Public Bank ESSO/Caltex VISA debit card. Can see all transaction history via Public Bank Online. Can be used for all internet transactions too. Absolutely annual fee free. You'll also get a monthly printed statement stating all your past transactions.

They also told me need 18 Years Old to apply the Maybank2U that time so i went back with account with debit card only..and i doing business in lyn need check balance to see ppl got transfer fund to me anot..
so after few days, i went back to maybank to apply a account under my father name to have the Maybank2U feature.

And after my father apply the account, i ask the officer why under 18 cant have Maybank2U. and he say can have m2u but cant transfer $$ to ppl only but can check balance. that time i was !@#$% rclxub.gif rclxub.gif so i ask him register for me..

Now the debit card works when i not enough $$ to buy thing and i will transfer fund from my father account to buy thing icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif It useless when cant send fund to others since i under 18

excuse me, I believed that some one may have risen this question before. but maybe not the exact same question. notworthy.gif

I'm using maybank visa debit card and enabled maybank2u and Maybank secure online shopping (MSOS). I would like to book different hotels through agoda website which the arrival date will be at least 5 months from now. I know that there is pre-authorization or holding of funds when we book hotel online with visa debit card.

My questions are:
1. is there anyone who booked hotel with maybank visa debit card through agoda website before?
2. Is the arrival date is kinda far away in the future like mine? or is it that I can only book if I will arrive recently?
3. since I'm booking a hotel which I will only arrive there at least 5 months later, does that means the holding of funds would hold it that long?
4. any maybank debit card holder who used agoda for hotel booking, can u give me an example of how much additional money that they will hold? since you booked before so can you give me your previous booking example? for example if I book a hotel RM400 per night, they will most likely hold Rm450? Rm500? or RM800?

Thank you for all detailed answer in the future. I'm planning a birthday trip for my gf. so I would like to estimate how much money I need to have in my bank account. The total hotels room charges would be around RM1700 for 6 nights. I just wanna know roughly how much I need to have in bank cuz I'm worried that pre-authorization or holding of funds would hold like RM3000? Rm2000? that's why I need an idea from experienced user biggrin.gif

I have not. I have however, used my HSBC MasterCard to book a room via Agoda several times already.

No. 5 months is not really that far a way, certainly not for hotel reservation.

No. It won't. In fact, once you authorized the payment, the total amount will be billed to your debit card right away.

If you book a hotel room for RM400/night and will be staying there just for one night, you will be charged RM400 only. No more no less.

ur arrival date is no prob if the website allowed it.

previously i booked airasia in IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) about 10 month in advanced, no problem.
(long story: previously if u buy 1 way ticket from another country than MY, u need to pay in their currency, but now no more, can convert and pay in RM using M2U already - to avoid Convenience fee if paid using card!)

i also used my maybank visa debit to purchased online in USD currency lot of time.

pre-authorization:
1. is by bank (not the website/hotel)
2. usually less than a week
3. the amount being hold will follows the bank's currency exchange on that day
.

some website (yahoo as example) charge $1 then refund it back later (about 16 days).

see my example of transaction history (edited) to refer:
Attached Image

as u can see,
13-Apr, i bought something worth $7.99, and maybank preauth it for rm24.68.
16-Apr, mbb revised it back and charged accordingly (sale), which is rm24.44.
(the date rev & sale shows 12-Apr is because following US date)

so the pre-auth is about 3 days only ~

and for yahoo example, i bought something from them, they charge $1 on 01-Apr then refund it back on 17-Apr.
(not showing in the picture to avoid confusing : yahoo pre-auth of sale on that 01-Apr is revised on 06-Apr, about 5 days).

so, for ur case, if u said about rm1700, then better have balance more a bit than it, example rm1800.

thanks guys. rclxms.gif however to MilesandMore, is your HSBC mastercard a debit card? because if you use a Credit card for sure they will charge the same amount with the one u see on the last transaction page of agoda. but I heard you will surely be charged for more if u use debit card. after you actually checked in and out of the hotel then they will return the balance after deducting the exact payment of your stay.

besides that, you mentioned if I'm staying for one night only and the room rate is RM400, only RM400 will be deducted from my account. what if I stay 2 nights? there will be extra charges? cuz I planned to say at 4 different hotels, 2 of them I will stay for 2 nights.

finally, most of the case we have to bring cash along cuz maybe we have to pay by cash when we arrive at the hotel if we use debit card on agoda rite?

anyone who see my previous message just 2 msg away from this one, please answers my question notworthy.gif cuz I really hope someone who actually booked with a debit card on agoda and real example of holding of cash to share it biggrin.gif

NEVER heard that statement ~

if u using agoda, u need to pay FULL amount, so why will be charged more?
bring cash only if the hotel need deposit, but surely the deposit amount is not same or higher than 1 night rate.

oh i just remembered, i did booked via agoda may last year! pay full amount (using credit card - also hsbc).

off topic : why we booked agoda using hsbc credit card? coz we got discount! smile.gif

It's a credit card.

Nope. I used to use debit card to book hotel room a few years back (didn't have a credit card then) and i was billed the exact amount. So will be your case.

Yes. You will need to bring cash as well for security deposit. Money will be refunded to you on the day you check-out. Have a pleasant trip smile.gif
