Job Title : Senior Software Engineer
Job Desciption : Writing programs / fixing bugs / system customization Company : MNC Industry : Telco Tenur : Permanent Employment Level : Senior Exec Experience before joining : 4 years salary ~ RM 5.5k (inclusive bonus) Duration with current company : ~1 Year Edu Level : Degree Age : Mid 20s My current recommendation for people who wants to climb up the ladder: Don't neccesarily start with big company. Big companies have a more tight pay scale structure (but will definately give you a better starting salary), but it is usually harder to climb in the beginning due to high competition. I started off in a small company as a junior exec, then later became a senior exec for a small company, before becoming a senior exec in a big company. My starting pay was initially 1.7k inclusive all allowances in a local company, whereas my friends was getting 2.4k for starting salary in MNC companies. Now they are getting around 3.5k-4k for same experience level as me. Unfortunately, I don't think loyalty pays well. I jumped jobs several time to reach my current position and those who didn't jump that much were not that fortunate (usually). |

malaysia will end up like jakarta soon... high inflation rate, low manpower wages... and fcuked up government. how can we fight singapore? hong kong? taiwan?
average people in hong kong earn HKD 25k with 3 years exp. that's equivalent to 13k RM. yes, although the living expenses are high, but they still have a lot of advantages like superb public transportation system and so on. thier inflation is high, but pay is high too. us? everything is crap. compare with other country and u will see malaysial's path.. we're screwed. |

QUOTE(netfan @ Mar 13 2006, 02:43 AM) Interesting. It seems that MNC or IT or Oil/Gas are the ones that pay more.. A 8-10 years exp cardiologist can hit 20k-30k a day easily. How about local doctors (physicians), lawyers, dentists, physical therapists or local universities professors or researchers? They don't make much? |

that's true. it depends on how many surgery they do a day. 1 surgery easily hit more than 15k.. or bigger ones 20-30k.
but not everyone dare to open ppl's body and fix the heart.. |

QUOTE(WildChai @ Mar 13 2006, 09:47 AM) Well, not all MNC pays good money. Some too are 'kiam siap'. Not every cloud has a silver lining....no? heh heh. There is one wireless company named MNC (funny name) and is very kiamsiap. Lucky didnt join them Oil/gas companies in malaysia don't pay quite high compare to the companies overseas. Work here...get paid according to RM inflation rates. Other countries, get paid in USD. |

MNC = Multi National Company, ie foreign-based companies like Nokia, DHL, Motorola, etc.
non-MNC = local Sdn Bhd.... Hope this helps |
