Hi happy new year everyone! ;]

My girl is having her period. She's 10 months old and this is her first time. This is my first experience too and I'm kinda no idea of what to do. Should i bring her to the vet for check up or is there anything i can do for her. I wrapped a piece of cloth around her private place like diaper and i replace new one after she pees. Am i doing the right thing?

She looks tired and her mood swings today. She didn't bark when i came home and i feel so strange and sad. She doesn't run around but only sleep on the floor most of the time. Barking is not like usual too. Today is the second day already.

Any kind soul out there mind to share some of your experience with me? Your advice is much appreciated.

Well it is a perfectly normal process to get period. So no worries, you don't have to bring her to vet unless there is something you deem wrong. I believe her behaviour is due to she is not getting used to the cloth being wrapped around her. Is she dripping a lot? If it is possible you can consider limiting her roaming place instead of wrapping her up.

Happy Chinese New Year everyone!!! smile.gif

Wanted to ask if any of you experienced this before, lately my girl makes alot of noise... not barking, but like the... i don't know how to explain (manja sound?)
Whenever i'm out of sight she whines alittle, when i carry her also she whine abit.... she don't whine for long, but is it normal???

She wasn't like that a week back...
Also, i never pamper her much... if she whines, i don't go there n sayang her or anything like that, i just ignore her until she quiet... but she's still like this... why???

You mean the stool is pure black color? Or it's just darker than usual? Did your pup strain to poop?

When we feed raw, the poop of the dog depends on the type of meat that is given...red meats will give the stool a darker color, while white meats give a lighter color.

It is black plus some choc color, but black in major..sometime will b pire black, and Rayne, what ur mean by strain to poop?
I search internet n i get some info that the raw food i fed to my miki might too rich for her, next time may try chicken diet instead of mixed with beef n mutton ==''
Hopefully tis is not caused by any virus or serious illness..

Strain to poop means like it is harder for your pup to poo compared to last time. Well, like I said before, the meats we feed will determine what color the poop will turn out to be. It's not a virus or anything, and since you mentioned that Miki is active as before, there's no cause for worry. I don't really believe in the food being 'too rich' or something, but it's just that the portions of beef and mutton will make the poop become dark in color. You could get maybe like just chicken mince, and alternate that with the mixed mince, so it won't be so much of a concern for you smile.gif

Hey guys, I'm still searching for a MS (Black & Silver) but it seems most of the breeders are dun have them n most pet shops are also out of stock. So popular la this breed.

Anyway, I might put my plans on hold for now as an unfortunate accident happened last night to my other dog (a furry dashund). He ran outside of my house n got hit by a car. a neighbour carried him home to us. I was so shocked to see Jack jack just lying motionless on my neighbour's arms..

Immediately sent him to the nearest vet that is still open. I was so scared that my Jack jack will die but the vet says that his immediate life doesn't seem to be in danger. Jack jack is still under observation & x-ray and the most worrying thing is if his internal organs suffer a rupture of severe damage. His pelvis bones are also fractured.

I've been unable to work or concentrate on anything the whole day but the latest news is the vets are putting Jack jack on x-ray now to determine the injuries.

I feel so upset and angry at myself for not being observant enough to know my dog ran out of my house. Jack is a super smart and active dog. My only hope is he survives this accident and be a normal healthy dog. The vet says if he is ok (no internal injuries), and just have fractures..he shud be ok..I',m still waiting for this good news. But the vet say he may not be 100% anymore..the best bet is 70% of his physical condition.

Thats y i might put my purchase of MS on hold as I might need to take good care of Jack jack while he recovers..Anyone has got any advise on what should or shouldn't do to a dog that just met with an accident?

So sorry to hear about Jack...hope he is recovering well. It is very unfortunate that things like this happen, but what has already happened, happened. No need to dwell on the past...the best thing now is to concentrate on keeping your dog comfortable as he recovers from his injuries.

Fractures are kind of a tricky thing...having broken an arm myself, it's not just uncomfortable, but darn frustrating because I can't move my arm and do what I need to do. laugh.gif The vets will probably put a cast on the fractured areas (or other methods where applicable) and will probably tell you that the dog shouldn't move the injured area much. Best, don't move at all so that the bones have time to heal itself. If the dog moves too much, the bones might be misaligned and will not grow back as what was intended.

I guess the only thing you can do for now is to listen very closely to what the vet advises you on caring for Jack. They are the experts, so follow their instructions to the T. Keep Jack as comfortable as possible and discourage him from moving the injured area too much (unless instructed by the vets).

Thx a lot for your advise..

My beloved Jack jack passed away yesterday. I'm still trying hard to cope with the situation.

I guess I will not have another dog for now as I can't get over the fact. I hate going home now cause I miss him so much.

To everyone..pls take good care of your dog and don't ever let it wonder around outside your house without u around..this was a mistake i made..and a fatal one.
