Would be good if seller can declare item as leather shoes.

Custom don't care what brand and what model of your shoe, as long as declare as leather shoe then you are good.

Long time lurker here. I am from Singapore.

I just bought a pair of shoes from Herring. Its made by Loake. First time buying shoes online, and was very lucky the shoes fit well.

The direct link to the shoe is here >> http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info...selectedFitID=0

Pardon the shitty cellphone pics.

Now I am waiting for my next shoe to arrive from FedEx, a pair of Shell Cordovan Aldens.

Can someone tell me, Are these Herring shoes made in corrected grain???

The wingtips look nice though I'm more a fan of brown shoes. The description in the website says black calf so I would think they are not corrected grain.

Where did you purchase the Aldens?

Yes. I think Herring shoes are good value.

I got the Aldens from http://www.Aldenshop.com/

They're supposedly the official shop own by Alden.

I told the guys there not to put in any receipt when they ship, so that
customs value can be declared by me in a different value.... smile.gif

btw, the herring guys are also very helpful, so that we will not
have any issues at the customs. Just send them an email after you buy... smile.gif

Yes. I had my doubts, because 130 GBP shoes cannot be that great.

At least it was 130 GBP, and its a upgrade from my shitty Geox shoes. I will ditch them
as soon as the Alden arrives.

There's no turning back now. Its a Vass next, after Alden + herring, so that I
can have a rotation going.

Good choice. Most people are overinvested in watches and woefully underinvested in shoes. But shoes have a bigger impact than watches.

hahha. believe me, I've very much over invested in watches,
and I am under self imposed exile from timezone/purist pro/watchuseek.

That is until a friend introduced me to his Santoni and Edward Green shoes.

Is it possible that shoes are made of cg leather even though the description says calf?

Beatific, you should have got c&j or church's instead of herring to match your alden shells and vass smile.gif

Herring is just an intro for me into the world of high(er) end shoes. smile.gif

Maybe I will take a look at C&Js at Plal when I'm at KL

calf can be cg. grain correction, where the leather is sanded down and a layer of acrylic is applied, is a process that can be applied to any leather, calf or cow.

even very expensive shoes use cg if the colour is black. in black, it is pointless to use unblemished leather if you're gonna dye it an amorphous black anyway.

Not true, shoes and watches have same impact, both must be paired.
