Shoes tree - i bought this at tropicana city, the cobbler at lower ground floor, near the carrefour cashier counter... price stated RM3X.00 (can't remember), ask for discount then i paid for RM30..

I bought a few pairs similar to this off taobao.com (I work in China), they only cost me RMB15 (around RM7) for a pair. Don't think they are made out of cedar though...

Currently my shoe care kit comprises of black liquid polish and Saphir Creme Surfine in neutral. What else should I get to create a patina on a pair of walnut colored oxfords?

My recently acquired shoes. Not EG, Lobb...just made by a local shoemaker. Quality seems pretty good, whether it will hold up to wear remains to be seen.

Have been trying to make them a darker shade of brown by polishing. Not sure if Saphir Creme de Luxe is the right cream, but it didn't turn out too bad.

A Shanghainese handmade shoe? Is the insole made of thick leather?
*
Beijing made actually. The insole doesn't feel very thick. These are my first 'real' pair of shoes, I am unsure of the construction whether they are Goodyear welted etc.

Noticed this Rad Russell brand the other day, shoes look too pointy for my liking.

This just arrived in the mail today. Black wingtips made by Loake Shoemakers. Shipped via Royal Mail Intl Signed For, took about 2 weeks to reach Malaysia.

I'm eyeing the Chetwynd on eBay. Does it fit true to size? How much would you guys pay for a brand new pair?

Won this on the bay - AE Weybridge. Fingers crossed that they don't get held at customs and Pos Malaysia doesn't mess up.

Long time lurker here. I am from Singapore.

I just bought a pair of shoes from Herring. Its made by Loake. First time buying shoes online, and was very lucky the shoes fit well.

The direct link to the shoe is here >> http://www.herringshoes.co.uk/product-info...selectedFitID=0

Pardon the shitty cellphone pics.

Now I am waiting for my next shoe to arrive from FedEx, a pair of Shell Cordovan Aldens.

Can someone tell me, Are these Herring shoes made in corrected grain???
*
The wingtips look nice though I'm more a fan of brown shoes. The description in the website says black calf so I would think they are not corrected grain.

Where did you purchase the Aldens?

95% of black shoes are corrected grain

Is it possible that shoes are made of cg leather even though the description says calf?

Beatific, you should have got c&j or church's instead of herring to match your alden shells and vass smile.gif

You may want to check out the discussion on SW shoes - http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=20383

Personally, I'd spend the 100 quid on a pair of Loakes or Barkers. There's also a nice pair of Sanders wholecut on sale for 75GBP here - http://www.pediwear.co.uk/sanders/products/3029.php

Since suede is meant as a casual shoe, black seems an odd choice. Would probably be better to match in brown or tan.

Perhaps you can wear them with a pair of grey chinos.

Looks good though I suspect they are most likely made in India.

Canfield is a derby shoe (or blucher depending on the continent you're from). They may not be as formal as oxfords, but in Malaysia I think you're should be safe to wear them with a suit. Plus they are goodyear welted, so the Canfield gets my vote.

1880 should be one of the better ranges from Loake. Congrats on your new purchase. Will they be paired with casual or formal attire?

i would like to ask about buying shoes (since I might need to do online purchase), my best size for this particular shoes is UK 8, check the size chart at the website is equivalent to US size 8.5. However I realized one of my other shoes (other brand) that I have is US size 9 then they marked equivalent to UK size  8 (1 size different). which one should i follow?
*
Size conversion charts differ from brand to brand. A UK8 may mean US8.5 or US9 depending on the brand. Then there is the issue of shoe last and width (I assume you are talking about leather dress shoes since you posted here).

You could probably get the shoe measurements to get a better picture, but even with that there will still be risks on the fit. If possible, try on the shoes in a brick and mortar shop if you can find one and then only decide on your online purchase.
