Some shoe care this Saturday morning.

This is my most expensive shoe, from the Cheaney Imperial range. It is also my least favourite, so I have not been giving it the TLC it deserves.

Just some creme, brushing, then some edge finishing.

I’ve got a pair of Loake’s in the same condition. Good reminder that a bit of TLC goes a long way

Nope. Never skip. If I'm done wearing it, shoe trees go back in.

Hey guys, I'm recently looking to buy a new dress shoe as mine is kind of worn out, currently owned a GEOX one, looking at Clarks and some brands around but their current models dont seem to be appealing to me.
Any other brands to check out?

I got a Loake Chelsea boots that looks just like that but I bet that RM Williams is probably 3 times the price.

I actually bought it 10 years ago at P lal. It was only $700 back then. Now I see it priced at $1900. That's a huge increase, about 3X in price.

Sorry, anyone know best place to get Keen shoes/sandals in KL? Tried Google, but not very helpful. Thanks.

After my last misadventure with my cobbler where he resoled my GYW to become a Blake Rapid hybrid, I thought I had some time before I needed to find another resoling solution.

Well the time is now. I don't have a solution. Not an economic one anyway (I can always ship it back to the factory in UK)

Sad to say Malaysia is still very much a wasteland  as far as proper men's shoes are concerned.
It seems things are much better south of the border: based purely on web search, and not on
actual experience, you might want to look up CNES shoes (www.cnes.co) in Singapore. In their "About Us"
page, they do list "Goodyear Resoling Services".

Though I  don't know if your shoes can still be "Goodyear resoled", as they have "morphed/evolved" somewhat, haha blush.gif

CNES got back to me with their pricing, starting from ~RM800.

So I went back to my cobbler to see if I could convince him to do a "proper" resole. We had a minor argument on whether or not the stitches on the welt are real, and insists that they are usually fake. Well yes, mass produced shoes usually have fake welt stitching, these are Loakes though...

I left the shoes with him with him unconvinced they were real and an understanding that he would do what he did last time - the cemented Blake Rapid hybrid.

Picked them up after 2 weeks and was pleasantly surprised that he had actually stitched through the welt and not the insole (as a Blake would have been)

Rather thick side profile. He still insisted on cementing another outsole on. Probably to hide what was likely some ugly but functional sole stitching. So a rather Berliner aesthetic.

Total cost was RM150 for a leather half sole, heel rubber replacement, and my usual rubber toe tip. A steal! And the pakcik still felt he was overcharging me, as much as I tried to convince him otherwise. I even told him how much CNES quoted me.

Gents. I have a pair of Loakes that have seen its fair share of wear and tear including heavy discolouration (brown tan) and scratch marks. Was wondering if anyone have cobblers to recommend in and around KL/Selangor area that can do the job justice ? Used to frequent SG Wang and IPC even before that so on the same quality if possible
