I've interviewed a few fresh graduates asking for salary above RM2500, reason is they graduated from oversea and some because they are 1st class honour. Honestly, I won't choose those fresh graduate who demand so much. At last, I choose a fresh graduate with CGPA 3.65 and expected salary is RM2000. I offered her RM1700 + allowance + commission and she accepted. After 6 months, she can perform and I increased her salary to RM2000. I think the most importance is you love the job, put effort to perform the best, innovative and learn. Your boss will knew it. If they don't appreciate you, learn everything and jump la.

And how long does one normally take to break out of this beginning salary? Let's just say that I'm a very hardworking man.

bro is about opportunity, with diploma n getting 2.5k is very good pay

u only 22, u work around 1year only, ur basic 2.5k??? that is very wonderful...

me as degree holder....2.5k basic after 2 years working....now edi 26...

compare to me, u think ur salary aint that better?

So seriously just jump, money is more important

i making 3k++ cant even survive properly in kl area

hard to justify bro, as i said even if u very hardworking, selling insurance also depend on ur networking, i believe u might come out from fresh. Ur customer only can target fren n family, relatives etc....

The chances they goin to buy i not sure, pretty low i guess....

Nevertheless sky is the limit, once u know the tactic everything, thing might easy for u....

I used to work as part timer, not very aggressive, managed to earn around 1k+ 1-3months time....

Its very subjective to confirm u a proper figure....if u still young it wont be harm for u to try smile.gif

Yes you have made the right decision, best indeed.
For your qualification I think 2.5 k is the market rate.

In computer world degree or diploma is not really important the most important thing is you can deliver.

I think it's reasonable that an overseas graduate demand more, even RM2500 is a bit less, they should be paid around the range of RM3000-RM4000 depends on location. Please bear in mind that those who graduated from overseas have certain qualities that local graduates don't have, you can't hire someone ONLY based on their results. For example an overseas graduate need to stay far from his family, be independent, interact with people with totally different background, settle most of the stuff by himself (find a place to stay, pay electrical bills, cook by himself... etc), and some of them even work as cleaners in restaurants during summer holiday. These experience might not be significant, but certainly will develope the capabilities of someone in terms of handling problems and difficulties... Of course my statements are exclude those who are super rich and their parents flew to see them 5 times a year and settle everything for them.

And a typical chinaman company problem: Always press down someone's salary. I told my boss last time that money maybe is not everything, but it CERTAINLY will motivate the employees, the more you pay, the more the employees feel appreciated (tell me if I'm wrong!), don't expect to pay a price of a kancil and hope to drive it like a ferrari... you pay the price of a kancil, you will get a kancil (even if you boost the engine you will need to add more money). Always keep that in mind.

If you are the boss and you have a budget for your employees' salary, my advise to you is to hire less people and increase their salary, rather than hire a bunch of people and everyone getting very little pay.

Yes, i also agree that u should jump unless your current company counter offer u as same as your current offer rm2.5k. Chance does not come every time. Should grab the opportunity.

Joke is on the company who offer her RM2k. She so good, confirm jump ship.

I've sent her to training, seminar, expo and she enjoy the exposure. SInce the company is small, normally i'll approved the event that she proposed. If she is not happy with the offer or company and want to jump, no choice but let go. But, I have to say a fresh graduate can't demand so much until you show your performance and working attitude.

I believe a company offer RM1700 for fresh grad and want the high grade grade is being very cheapskate and these candidate will easily find a new job and you will deal with the attrition which is a loss to your company.
*
Haha...actually not I demand for high grade for my staff. But, you will choose candidate with CGPA 3.65 or candidate with CGPA 3.25 if both also accept your RM1700 as basic salary? I think most ppl have the same answer, right?

Hi there, I'm in same situation with you before this..I'm 21 years old..Now my decision is change job..my previous job was higher salary..but it's not my field..dont let your current company effect your decision..ask yourself,do you satisfy what you have now?

do you like your current job?
what they promise you to make you stay? increment? higher position?
what you want to achieve?
what job do you prefer?
Let say it is same job scope, then just look for the salary..

lynn1901, choose the one with cgpa of 2.5 if you have that kind of budget.

there is "zero" reason for someone good to stay in a company that does not pay accordingly. Most will leave once they find a better job. Every company can offer learning opportunities, training etc..

Choose the 2.5cgpa one and there is a higher chance that he will stick with the company due to a lack of choice. Of course, there is always the odd one that doesn't mind the low pay but that is an abnormality.

do you seriously think this newly hire employee of yours will be loyal to your company with that pay?

anyway this is the problem with local employers...they underpaid their workers....

RM2000 basic for a fresh graduate consider underpaid? If this basic is net pay then consider is underpaid, but I still offer allowance (RM350 allowance), petrol claim (limit to RM500/month) and commission (0.4% on sales), she follow up current sales value about RM100K / month, total pay is about RM2000 + RM350 allowance + RM400 commission = RM2750/month. But,she only start to entitle for the commission after her 6 month probation, so now she already entitled for this commission. I think this package for a fresh graduate is acceptable. I still remember when I start my sales career with this company, I don't have existing customer account and start to build from ZERO la...
