Yes, u can use your Maxis line on a jailbroken set. The 2GB could be things like your stored IM logs [assuming U store them], emails, cache, etc.

@unclechan,
Do U even see the 'Internet Tethering' settings? AFAIK the new FW disallows networks other than Maxis to utilise Internet Tethering. Try it with a Maxis SIM and see if the Internet Tethering settings will re appear smile.gif

@KIat,
On ur iPhone, go to Settings/General/International/Language - I am not sure if Vietnamese is supported though.

the maxis origin iPhones are unlocked by nature, so you can use it in australia.

i used my singtel bound 3G version (singtel shares the same part number as maxis) with australia's virgin mobile and optus and everything worked as prescribed.

to understand how the australian wireless cellular provider industry works in general, kindly head over here

2. If the above way is not possible, how do I keep the jailbreak but remove EVERYTHING from the phone (ie. factory default/hard reset)? I would like to have the phone in a fresh state (jailbreak notwithstanding) and empty of all the silly applications I have in there. Is a hard reset able to do this? Is it even safe to hard reset this AT&T phone?

I hope you guys can help me. I guess my questions are kinda basic and simple but I've scoured the web and can't find answers specific to my needs so I hope I can get some help here.

Problem Encountered : Want to reset the phone to original settings (as in no jailbreak and no applications whatsoever)

you can use pwnage tool 3.1.4 to update d firmware + jailbreak..... then later can use the ultrasn0w to unlock d iphone.
but pwnagetool is only available on MAC. (pwnage tool will preserve d old baseband)

do not use itune to update d firmware coz it will update your baseband n d new baseband firmware is unlockable at the moment.

Prerequisites: You must be jailbroken on the iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. You need to have SSH installed and you need to know the IP Address of your device on the local network.

Not sure any of u face this problem before
My iPhone 3Gs always how NO SERVICE under the carrier there whenever i on my 3G for a while, my colleague face the same problem as mine.
We are both updated from 3.1 to 3.1.2
What i do is every time i need turn it off and on back again and only will found Maxis signal, Really headache of this issue

I found that this issue is been discussed at apple iphone forum as well

ermm.. actually what i meant was can i still use the iphone if i unjailbreak the phone? it is already jailbroken now.. i want to unjailbreak it..

oh.. and can i update my firmware? it is currently using 3.0 now.. can my jailbroken iphone update the firmware? or will the iphone be locked if updated?

Dear Bro, I tried the above this morning, was successfully see the internet tethering ON/OFF trigger switch after the final reboot, but unfortunately, after my MacBook detected the network connection and prompt out Network preference, showing iphone tethering, the tethering switch at iphone was just suddenly disappear, and gone forever even i try to reboot my iphone.

Then, i restore back all my backup before this mod, installing the MyWi, it work perfectly but unfortunately it cost 9.99 after 10 days trial... cry.gif ==> dont know if i shall figure out how to pay them and buy this or not....


Any better advise?

if urs is maxis set, unlocked, then u can use it whichever way u like, jailbreak., no break, anyting..
jb is done only on ur preference... thr r few who just dun like to come over to the dark side...tongue.gif

and yes u can update ur firmware..updating fw wud auto un-jb ur i3gs...

i see, would it auto un-jb if mine is just 3g? or applies as well?

and how to check whether it`s maxis set or not? cos i bought it from a forumer.. don`t think he knows what set is it.. lol..

anyone notice in fw 3.1.2 there's a tick in front of smses now? if i recall, there's nothing like this in earlier OSes, right? just curious whether issit a white elephant..lol

You can use iTunes to create ringtone rite, but the disadvantage is that it can create 15 secs ringtone only.
