everybody... i need help.
i just bought a D5000 a week ago. my next purchase will be an external flash and a lens. i was thinking of 50mm 1.8 coz it's the cheapest and i'm looking for a lens with big aperture. the thing is, i just noticed that this lens is not a af-s lens and i will not be able to have auto focus. the af-s 50mm 1.4 is way too expensive...
now, my problem is, i notice that af-s lenses are at lease 2-3 times more expensive then af lenses... meaning that i have to fork out so much money if i wanted to pruchase lens. will it be better to buy a D90 instead? (at least i can save up on lenses) or just go canon? (nikon's 50mm 1.8 = RM380, canon 50mm 1.8 = RM340)

QUOTE(epet24 @ Sep 28 2009, 01:17 AM) guys...just wondering if there any thread that only discuss on D3000...? what you want to specifically talk about? all of the models in this thread are roughly alike, so it's ok. If u havent bought D5000, I would recommend just staright go for D90

Manual focus will be challenging as one has to depend on the built in rangefinder. These focusing screens without the "split screen" are not designed for manual focus.

I am wondering why D60 & D3000 don't have live view features? If compared with Canon, Sony etc., for entry level did they have live view?

many ppl suggest to use manual focus, but when u really use it in some event n outing, u will kno itz not easy... most of the pic u took will be blur, n even u got a sharp pic, u would probably miss out a lot of chances of nice shot...

I agree... cos I cover event often, it's not easy to constantly manual focus... often u can miss the shot altogether A nice chap lent me his 50mm f1.8 once and I tried it and it was pretty challenging...

Why don't get the 35mm f1.8? This is the cheapest AF prime lens for D5000.

i using d60 with 50mm 1.8, kit lens 18-55mm and 70 -300mm manual also...for fast action i use the kit lens but for potrait and still items using the 50mm 1.8 is wonderful. Excellent photos i feel for my standard of course. No regrets buying although manual focus but worth every penny.

Guys how much are d3000 kits worth now ? Im planning to change systems... i bought my Olympus just not too long ago and out pops a D3000.... haihz... shouldve waited... I think Nikon is more worth it in the long run... since four-thirds lenses cost a bomb.

I thought of getting SB600 but it's out of my budget Oic.. Rm900 is quite cheap for a zoom lens right? Maybe I'll get it in the future QUOTE(kimurastanley @ Sep 28 2009, 08:13 PM) u mean all-round lens like 18-200mm?? If all-round type then how much?

1.7k for 18-200 is cheap, but check the condition first.
D3000 is around 2k kit, i got one for a friend at 2090 including 4gb, bag, filter, and tripod. I'd say the d3000 is like a d60 on steroids
