Ok I assume you know how to get into APN settings, I have 3 settings there:

All these comes with my ori magic without rooting, so it should be correct. The digi internet is working though, MMS haven't tried yet.

@clivengu : i've same problem before.. try other method here:

1) find "Better Terminal Emulator"
2) Open then type : su
3) type in : setprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric  310260
4) type in : getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric (to see ist set to 310260 or not.. if 310260 appear then u are done)
5) Go to setting -> application -> manage application -> find market -> clear cache -> force closed -> exit
6) Go to Home -> Menu -> market run it.. then u will see paid app.

I'm using this method and its easy ~ credit to LEVIATHAN ~ sharing is caring  thumbup.gif

I tried the Terminal Emulator.. It doesnt come out with any keypad!!! i cant even type in! So I give the Connectbot a try.. but not exactly sure what option to choose.. try try.. still cannot give up.. n uninstall all the applications tat i try to use to enable the market paid application sad.gif

Hotlink doesn't seem to support 3G for Hero. I can't find the settings for the model.. Anyone knows how to troubleshoot?

Havoc Knightmare, use http://is.gd/5iDNG.

I'd like to suggest that we help ourselves by be more resourceful.

Edit: Possible bad news to early adopters of leaked Eclair :-( Apps are missing when going back to 1.5/1.6 e.g. MCR or generic ROM. Read http://is.gd/5iGcz

I am interested to get something like that for my magic.

Are you still putting the phone in a pouch (I am not sure if hero comes with a pouch like magic) after you use this capdase casing?

Somehow I felt a bit insecure to expose the whole front out like that in my pocket. :|

Been using my hero since last raya. Currently running MCR 3.0 and latest recovery image by Amon-RA. I find that the modaco and xda forums are all good reading material for new hero owners. U can go a long way with a little Googling.

Incidentally, I have an extra capdase silicon case lying around for my brown hero. Buzz me if anyone is interested.

Oh and I tried the leaked 2.1 Rom for a bit. Prefer the stability of MCR for the time being.

no pouch since day one, only use screen protector and capdase silicon case. No scratch so far, maybe because I didn't put my phone together with any metallic object in same pocket! biggrin.gif

Try "quick uninstaller" at market.

Self applied wallpaper quality on Lock Screen and Home is terrible, did a search and some testing on the Lock Screen and the result is WOW. Let the Screenshot do the talk shall we wink.gif

Lock Screen (Via Menu -Wallpaper Lock Screen Settings)

Banding is very obvious.

Hi guys,

Some update on Hero Dev ROM,
jnwhiteh from Xda dev notworthy.gif has kindly released AOSP 2.0.1. Further info and download link is below:

My impression:
This rom is really2 fast and smooth. From opening and switching apps, to typing and scrolling, its amazingly fast.
All functions and apps are fully working including sync and gallery app which missing in AOSP 2.0 except the camera (shouldn't be a long time before they fix it).

As usual, some screenie on the AOSP 2.0.1 (new lockscreen included):

How about the keyboard ElmI? Earlier AOSP keyboard is much slower compared to MCR 3.0c +TCK 1.9p.

htc sync failed to detect my hero sad.gif

my hero was detected right after I freshly installed htc sync. But after doing something else ( i switched to usb mount to copy the recovery image ), it won't detect anymore sad.gif

I tried re-installing the driver and rebooted, it still works only for the first time.

Well I'm using win7, and I tried the solution suggested to use the driver for vista instead, but it doesn't help..

That's it. I'm fed up with the iPhone already. Sure it provides rich user experience but when the phone hardware leave a lot to be desired, that counts for nothing. My original iPhone got a permanent stuck pixel-like lines on the screen and now my 3GS just wouldn't turn on for some reasons only God knows.

I've always had an eye on the Hero and I guess there's no better time to switch over. Once I get the iPhone fixed/replaced I'll be putting it up on Garage Sales first thing.

I've got several questions I hope you gentlemen here can help to answer:

1. I know the Hero comes with Android 1.5 out of the box and the 2.0 is to be released soon. Will we see Hero comes with 2.0 out of the box soon? If yes, I might wanna hold on to my purchase until then.

2. Is there any official way to flash the firmware ala the iPhone style via the iTunes. UPDATE: Think I just came across LEVIATHAN's tutorial on how to flash the phone, but I'm still interested to know if there is an official channel to do it. Thanks!

3. Where can i get more information about the OS, customization, errrhmmphh *hacking*, etc.

4. How good is the Android market now in terms of number of applications and the quality of the apps. Let me know what you think...

Thank you all in advance.

1.No, there will be a slight delay between the 2.1 release and the out of the box availability. I don't think it will affect much as most people will flash their phones with custom and superior roms

2. Yes, HTC give out roms in the form of a RUU(rom update utility). Just connect, and run.

3. FAQ in the stickies would be a start

4. Not as good as apple's store but still they have some very cool apps that the App store doesn't have.
