QUOTE(zeng @ Feb 9 2012, 04:13 PM) Uncle Google couldn't help me to locate this info.. Could you kindly provide its link please ? Previous year: Pre-clinical 13200 Clinical 24,000 I think it was just a 2.5% increase for the year. As I said earlier, those who applied last year and were offered a place this year will be very disappointed with the almost 100% jump.

Cardiff has yet to put up their 12/13 fees for international students hence likely they will follow Aberdeen. The UK unis are surely watching the Aussie unis. which start in Feb before they finalise their fees for their Sept 12 intake.

They will already know about Aussie unis as fees for 2012 have been made known since last year.

the british is already clueing on the fact that they can gorge more fees from international students by charging full clinical fees for the pre-clinical years....like what oz has been doing....
east anglia has been doing this since they started, as their programme is a fully integrated one, with some clinical exposure from year 1....thus they use this as an excuse to charge full clinical fees for all 5 years.....
expect more and more british med schools to stop the practice of charging normal fees for pre-clinical years.....

QUOTE(Syd G @ Feb 7 2012, 01:58 PM) Was talking to a MUFY JPA scholar today. She told me that in her batch, some didnt manage to get the score required or failed the interview or didnt get enough IELTS score for Monash Sunway MBBS admission.. Quite a sad scenario for all of us taxpayers..... it is common knowledge that in the imu-pms stream, there are many scholars, and in the killer eos2 where 20% of students fails, they are over-representated....

Closing of acceptance tomorrow. Interviews still going on and quite surprised if they don't come close to the number.

From the business point of view, is this an indication that supply of mbbs seats by Monash Sunway exceeds its demand ? Time to cut tuition fees ......

Time to cut tuition fees ...... supply definitely far exceeds qualified applicants as per clayton level requirements.... they will just scrape lower in the barrel till supply is met by demands.... all the ipts med schools do that....until mmc throws a spanner into the cogs by imposing minimum grades....

OWCH!! So much for scholars indeed! All the more reason to grant scholarships at undergraduate level, not SPM level, and a revised eligibility criteria....then again, how many wants to come back and serve their bond.

Yet to understand how the intake really works here. Since the interviews started mid of last year, there have been a fair bit of rejections but somehow they still cater for "last minutes". For "smart" students, they will find a way for you!

For the record, very few (or totally none for med), well at least for those studying in Australia. The way I see it, they're simply stealing from future generations - that is until the coffers run dry. You can never be a developed country if you keep sending your best students (or so they claim) to said countries at the expense of taxpayers. Sure, developed countries do this too (Rhodes), but the sponsorship would most likely come from the host country and these students actually return to serve in their respective local communities.

The majority of malaysians have not evolved to that level yet.

QUOTE(podrunner @ Feb 9 2012, 11:34 PM) The majority of malaysians have not evolved to that level yet. Med scholarships overseas are running dry since the last one to two years since Perdana n Numed came onto the scene as most, if not all the students are gomen sponsored. The issue of scholarships holders defaulting is due to the poor enforcement.
