Control Panel -< Regional and Language Setting -> Adminstrative -> Choose ur language in the drop box

Hahaha... me too...almost as wide as my friend's sxps 16..

Press F6 to switch between the keyboard lighting....you can turn it off from there.

I might be getting the Studio 15 next month.

Targeting <RM3k with backlit keyboard + 7200rpm HDD.

Any other recommended upgrades?

I've changed my HDD on friday and had to reinstall all drivers. Previously, there's a bluetooth icon in control panel. But now, it's gone and I can't connect my bluetooth stereo headset to my beloved S1555. Can anyone advise how to overcome this?

I think you can upgrade your warranty if you have extra budge. Dell warranty extension is a worthy investment as you can secure your laptop from damage from the next 2 year. Oh, you also can change your cover design. The purple one is really kewl.

Do you reinstall the bluetooth driver or app? I think the reason it's gone is because there is no driver to active the bluetooth hardware.

I bought two Dell Studio 15 from earlier this year till now. My dad is using one and I am using the other. Now my sis is in college and she needs one. I am thinking of giving her my Dell Studio 15 and get a Dell Studio XPS 16.

Is it worth getting or is it better to buy a third unit of Dell Studio 15? What's your advise?

if u r nt a gamer...no point u getting Sxps 16...waste...caz S15 is more thn enough for 3 years usage...

Yes, I'm not much of a gamer but I would like to install some games so that I can play when I have time. Games like FIFA 09, the upcoming Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, Command and Conquer 4... If I were to stick to a Dell Studio 15, would these games run well on it?

Thing is I dont know what's the performance difference between the 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670 and the 512MB ATI Radeon HD4570. Can you advise?

performance difference between them for 3dmark06, 4570-4k vs 4670-around 7k
4570 only can handle most nowadays games in low-medium settings
check this website for more info, there are 4570 & 4650 benchmark, which u can use it as reference
since u want play starcraft2 & diablo3, which are still not sure will be released on 2010
IMO u better choose studio xps 16

So i was going through the Dell website and I came across that you can customize ur cover with the graffiti like cover..So my question is if the cover is sticker type or like airbrush on it. So somebody using it could please enlighten me.

Well, new toys is always better to me. No hard getting a better piece of laptop compared to you last one isn't it. If you have the budget to get Studio XPS, I will suggest go ahead.


If your warranty covers you for one year, no matter how many times your laptop spoils in one year they will fix it for free.

The drivers and utilities cd if I not mistaken. I suggest you directly download from Dell website for latest driver update.

It is not sticker type I can assure you that. It is something like a glossy surface like the topo black.

but the games u play sure need a good GPU to run... Studio XPS 16 gets my vote for ur case...

I have a problem with my s15, my windows defender pop out a msg like that:-

Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba.A problem caused this program's service to stop.To start the service, restart your computer or search Help and Support for how to start a service manually.

Anyone can teach me how to fix it? i cant off it through control panel too.How?

Added on September 6, 2009, 5:38 pmI just found how to solve it:-

Go to Control Panel then select System and Maintenance and then clicking Administrative Tools then finally select Services.
I scrolled down to Windows Defender service and to my surprise it was deactivated and stopped.
To fix this I double clicked that service to open it, then chose the option to start automatic on start up, then I was able to click on the Start service button.
I then clicked on Apply and Restarted the computer ,windows Defender started up fine.
