QUOTE(I.hunter @ Sep 3 2009, 01:54 AM) I've just got my S15 two days ago. 1) Important driver and update such as driver for GPU, BIOS update, network adapter and etc. Personally, the dell download manager is crap..it will ask you to download all kind of unnecessary driver and update.1. I've been wondering whether should i download those drivers ask suggested from the notice in my box which lead to the result of 35 files available for download from dell download manager. Should i download and install all or just leave it as it is? Any important driver that i need to update it? 2. Is ATI CCC modded version more recommended or just uninstall the CCC? 3. Installing dell quickset will show capslocks?? i have uninstalled it so i am not sure. It is good to know that capslock is on though. 4. My highest resolution is 1366x768, but i feel like i want more space. Anyway to increase it (so that can view more stuff such as more names in msn displayed)? i'm not quite adapted to widescreen yet. 5. What temperature should i keep the laptop below of? which consider as stable? 6. It seems like my dvd-rom is stuck while reading halfway. I opened a disc with burned files and it display all the files but when i click the file it will take a very long time or maybe forever to open it. Is this vista problem (after closing the explorer i receive the permission message from vista)? 7. My warranty is not registered yet though i ordered online. I suppose i should call dell, but is this problem solve yet for those having it few days or weeks ago? 2) Up to your own preferences. To me, I uninstalled the CCC. 3)Quickset is one of the thing that you should not uninstalled. It is a useful software, it will shows the contrast, volume level and others. 4) Maybe adjusting the resolution will do. Since your stock display is 1366x768, I don't think you can adjust it to a higher reso, lower maybe can. 5) As cool as you can get it. 40'c is quite low to me, but normally the average temperature is around 50'c 6) I face the same problem as you. The dvd rom is kinda disappointing as it is quite slow. Is not the OS problem. It takes time to read from dvd rom. 7) You ordered online but they did not register your machine for warranty? Double check it by typing the ID tag beneath your laptop. If your laptop still unregistered, call Dell. Warranty is one of the essential part of your laptop, make sure your laptop is under warranty. QUOTE(terrence0488 @ Sep 3 2009, 01:27 PM) juz email!!? I believe calling them will prove much more efficient. It will only take you around 10mins to settle the issue with them. I believe investing 10mins from 24hours is much more worth compared when the AC adapter broke down when you need it the most, right?tats simple enuf!!!^^ hmm....but im really bz now!! after exam oni email them...hope tat my s15 stay safe until i get the new adapter...hehe... |

Hi all, question regarding the full hd. I knows You guys have answered a lot of these questions and i've read almost all of them including the first page.
let's say... I need high res when i'm working - coz i need a lot of work space. when gaming, i'll reduce to 1366x768 since the 4570 is not powerful enuff for higher res. My question is if i buy the full hd lcd, will there be any issue if i wan to lower the resolution later? Will it display in 1366x768 resolution utilizing all the lcd sceen size? I'm now using dell 640m which is running on 1440X900 px on 14.1 inch. Everything looks nice with native resolution and am comfortable with the font size. But in other resolutions it looks terrible, it can't utilize the whole lcd screen(probably the other resolution is not widescreen resolution). the whole screen will shrink and thick dark frame will form around the screens for lower resolution. For those with full hd setup, can you clarify with me? thx... |

it depends on how u setup in the Catalyst Control Center...
either center (means black stripes around) or maintain aspect ratio (no black stripes but blurry graphic)... how abt 1600x900??? that seems to be a balance... |

You can get the s15 with P8700 processor by ordering online. Just add rm247 for it. I doubt you can get it at Mid Valley as most of the machine there is a pre-builds so you don't really get to choose what you want.
If you purchase from Dell retailer, it is based on Cash and Carry. So you can get the machine on the spot. I not sure about freebies. I seldom heard any people getting freebies from Dell retailer as most of the freebies were given by Dell sales representative through phone or online order. My conclusion here is that, if you urgent for a laptop, then just go to Dell retailer. If you wanted to customize and hoping for freebies, order directly from Dell through phone. p/s: my 1k post |

I have been wondering which software(one) is recommended to check the temperature for different parts of the laptop. Speedfan only seems to show the temp for my cores and nothing else.
