Investment returns not much different???? ASB dividend for last year was among the lowest but still it was 8.55%.
Yeah. The difference ain't that significant unless your total investment is a huge amount. Therefore, an extra quota of RM50k isn't going to make a huge difference. Anyway, i now have both ASB and ASW2020 and i am happy with both.

the approved fund size is rm14bil, outstanding is rm13.1bil todate. They are going to distribute the dividend and all dividend will be reinvested. so it will be easily fill the left over RM0.9bil with the dividen distribution.

I expect the dividend to be declared by the mid of September 2010.. Based on the record of the declaration of dividend by their side.. ^^

Added on August 23, 2010, 12:19 pmSeems like some of the people of the public were confused about AS1M; but i am acting as an neutral, but to show what i found:-

1) AS1M objective launched by the Prime Minister was to encourage the citizens to invest their money to increase their asset value..

2) AS1M was also intended to increase the income of the citizens, though not much, but it helps..

3) AS1M is investing in equities, and trust me, even for them to declare dividend of minimum of 6% is not difficult despite their consistent performance..

4) Some of the people think that the Government will use the money for their political policy, but from what i see, it was the intention of PM to increase the income.. Whilst, investment in equity funds by those expert fund managers might contribute more than 15% (conservative projection) returns, so nothing is impossible..

5) Their benchmark of 3.7% to 4% were actually as a conservative target for them to perform better than the benchmark, but many thought the return is low, hm.. next month will prove whether this statement is right or wrong..

6) Capital protection is true.. See PNB is listed in the Bank Negara Malaysia..

Soul2soul, have u have an existing account for AS1M before?

If you have opened before, and now you are an existing accountholder, you might have chance to top up your investment..

I was thinking about trying my best to top up as many as i can before the mid of September, which i expect the dividend will be issued.

When you want to top up, straight away go to the counter/teller, dont ask the front desk become they will confirm to tell you sold out sometimes even if its still available.. ^^

Can I ask some question regarding the account for ASW 2020.
As a was a kid my parent's open an account ASW 2020 (Akaun Remaja).

1) Can I add or withdraw money from this account? Or still need my parents Signature to withdraw money?

The procedure is exactly the same as ASB. But unfortunately, i do not remember how it was like anymore since it was many years ago i turned 18.

Anyway, i am still using my original ASB teenage passbook that i've been using since 12. If i am not mistaken, i did go to Maybank to do something. Just go to any Maybank, CIMB Bank, RHB Bank, Pos Office or PNB Office and the staff there will advise you on what do you need to do.

Yape, you are right, as long as there is someone selling, there will be opportunity for buying..

But too bad, the banks tellers are the first to know, and they are the first to have the advantage to buy compared to us.. shakehead.gif

dont worry, the fund size for ASW is RM14bil, sometimes within an hour can have few big withdrawal, bank tellers are just salary earners, they are not able to sapu all the fund that available from time to time. My friend's uncle left his ASW book with one of the bank's teller, and he is able to accumulate 6 digits of units into his ASW account within few months time.

What about ASB? Can the investment account be increased past its limit of RM 200K?

Once you hit, 200k, ask the teller to check how much left you can invest. The system actually separate between capital, dividend and bonus. Tha cap 200k is for Capital only. So you may still able to invest more if you hit 200k. Just beware, lots of bank teller may be lazy to properly check the system and just answer mak 200k. I kena before.
