yes it did, I am told it will grow back in like 10 years time or so after removing it, dont feel much at all and not giving me any problems lately (touch wood!)

I am using an air purifier in my room just in case but it has been a couple of years, problem free from sinus related issues.

I have visited Dr Koay Cheng Eng twice. As with any experienced ENT doctors, there are no issues with regards to diagnose and prescription but in terms of ethics, I think he is a bit lacking in terms of ethics.

I have a deviated septum whereby the passageway of one of the nostrils of the nose is smaller than the other one. He suggested a surgery to correct the problem as he mentioned it is already very severe. Since I had no difficulty in breathing at all I knew this surgery is not necessary. I asked a question on whether there are side-effects of this surgery and he suddenly didn't seem interested to entertain my questions anymore and was in a hurry to get me out of the clinic so that he could attend to other patients.

Also, I noticed Dr Koay Cheng Eng likes to take not only photos but videos of his patients as he showed me many photos and one video of his patients (a teenager or in his early twenties) talking about his experience with the surgery where Dr Koay had performed on him. It may be good publicity but personally i don't quite buy into all that.

I understand that all doctors would want to earn more money by performing surgeries but this should not take precedence over proper prescription or advice, in other words based on good ethics. I would suggest exploring other ENT doctors.

Honest opinion about Dr Koay Cheng Eng based on personal experience :
Visited Dr Koay Cheng Eng as well, like what others mentioned, he is soft spoken and love taking photos, probably for his own before and after comparison. Overall was okay but not to the extent of excellent. When it comes to diagnosis he may not be very knowledgeable and would appeared to be impatience and a little frustrated when he's unable to share more information when asked more in details. He has attempted to provide information which I have relied on but later found to be outdated. I highly recommend everyone to get second or third opinion other than relying purely on his advice, be it advice for surgery or further diagnosis like MRI, CT or X-ray scans unless the issue is urgent. Because sometimes, these surgeries and scans are not compulsory for our case. Unnecessary surgeries or scans might bring more harm than good. I'm not a medical professional but would like to advise everyone to always get second opinion and do your own research before taking the next action as it maybe irreversible.

How much it cost for a sinus operation nowadays? Had sinus since prime school and had been travel to many countries in recent years, while i'm in some country with fresher air like Korea, Europe etc, i felt totally refresh like a different person, clearer mind and better concentration. Seriously felt like sinus is affecting everything in my life.

Yes. Any surgery is major, and it is certainly advisable to take a 2nd opinion. Apart from taking 2nd or 3rd opinions from other specialist, personally I believe it is the patient who will know best on his own condition since it is his own body. You only consider a surgery to correct a problem if it is severe or are experiencing discomfort or pain in the long run and affecting your everyday life. Or when the surgery is required to prevent a potential cancer from developing to critical stage etc. However, if the problem is not life-threatening and minor, the person should be aware as the nose or throat is his/her own body, and he/she can judge whether a surgery is required to treat the issue or not.

In my view, any surgery is best avoided unless absolutely necessary as there will always be a risk no matter how small it is when a person goes under the knife.

Hi, everyone, have u been suffered on below symptoms
Dry painful inside nose bridge,    nose feels so uncomfortable for strongly smells like mint, chili, chemical, lemons , no runny nose but got mucus on sore throat, got sinisitis
I took a lot of medicines but my nose getting  worse.i think this is because l'm hurting my nose accidently when washing my nose.l'm very scare to use nasal spray anymore this will cause nose more dry. Any suggestion and opinion?
*
What kind of nasal spray or brand is it?
I am aware that every individual has different sets of problems and what contributes to it, I will try to share my experience as short as possible with detail.

i have allergic rhinitis and it got worse during work (in restaurant with open door) tar road patching, next door paint/renovation job and haze. All these 3 happened back to back which worsened my sinus condition, I am allergic to perfumes, smokes and strong odors and people burning rubbish in my neighbourhood frequently was terrible for my condition. When I smell them I get runny nose, phelgm build up and coughs and often followed by fever. i also had really bad tonsilitis and my tonsil never healed normally so it became chronic tonsilitis and this caused me to get sick easily, having allergic rhinitis with chronic tonsilitis pretty much cause me to get sick very frequently, my coughs can last more than 2 months. I went to clinic anytime I got sick, they just gave me antihistamine pills and cough syrups. It takes more than a month to recover from blocked sinus and coughs. i even asked the doctors from my clinic if i should remove my tonsil and they said dont need. 4 months ago I got ill and it was worse than ever, both my nose was blocked to the point i cant breath and my chest hurts so much from coughing, it was hard for me to get sleep too. i visited my clinic as usual. Got the same kind of medicine again but it didnt help after 2 weeks when it seem like it was clearing i got sick again. So this went on for about 2 months. I finally had it and couldn't take it anymore and despite the doctor from my clinic telling me there's no need to go hospital since it woukd be a waste of money and they dont think the doctor from hospital can do any differently about my case than what the clinic had provided so far. i wasn't going to trust the clinic doctor that I've gone to since i was a kid. I live in Klang. So I go to the nearesy hospital (Pantai Hospital Klang) and went for consultation from the ENT there (there's 2. The one I was reccomended to is Dr.Raj Kumar) first meeting was pleasant, he was very friendly he made me feel like an old friend, he asked me what I want, i said I want to remove my tonsil, he then ask why because he wanted to know the full detail and extent of my problem including my sinus problems and any problems that i can think of even if it may seem unrelated. HE then looked at my tonsil and was sure that I have to remove it (it looks bad) unlike the doctors from my clinic I felt that he was more genuine in trying to help me with my tonsilitis and sinusitis, he said he will help me do the surgery if thats what I want, but removing tonsil alone won't solve my problem so he said he wants to find the caused of all my related problems which is most important. So he prescribed me antihistamine (different ones than what my clinic gave. He asked me what kinds I have taken so far, so he gives a different kind) and he also gave me Nasonex, I have tried over the counter pharmacy nasal sprays and one the clinic doctors gave me, so i told him that, he says this is better he was very confident that Nasonex will help put my sinus allergy under control, he says it takes 2 week to take full effect he claimed that with this I can smell perfume, smoke or even dust it eont trigger my allergy. i went home feeling good about what he said. i was to return for follow up after 2 week, 1 week gone by I felt like I was getting better then suddenly I got fever and very bad blocked nose (my coughs was still going on) so i visited Dr Raj Kumar again, because my condition got worsed out of the sudden even after the meds he gave me this time his facial expression was different, he looked more concerned so he checked my throat and nose again and told me I had to take CT scan so he could find out for sure what is the problem. i took ctscan the same day and decided to get admitted (I had medical insurance so I was fortunate to be able to make that decision easily). Reault of ctscan came out and both my maxillary sinus ostium is completely blocked (the proper term was obliterated) This was the result of continuous inflamation, he said he can operate my sinus and that it can help relieve my problem abit (he stressed that it wont cure or fix my problem and that the surgery is just to make me more comfortable) i asked if it can grow back as many people have told me that there no point in surgery since the flesh will grow back and my cousin had surgery twice and it grew back, he said maybe but it will help.

So... Dr raj Kumar asked me what do I want to do since he can't perform tonsilectomy untill my coughs stops, if i want to go home or stay in the hospital, i rly dont know what else he meant if not go home then i stay in the hospital do what? So i jusy honestly said i want to get better. So he said ok theb he wil try his best to help me get better (clear my blocked nose and stop my coughs) that day itself he changed my prescription and gave me stronger medications (it was rly strong since it keeps making me drowsy, so i slept almost the whoe day for 2 days) I receieve intravenous antibiotics and antihistamines and Avelox (I have never had this before and doctors won't prescribe this if your case isn't severe enough). After 3 days My nose cleared up! I felt so much of the difference and my coughings lessened. i was so happy! If I had continue with what my clinic doctor gives me it would have taken a month to have the same result which only took 3 days! i was discharged and continued on the new prescribed medication for a week (avelox, bilastine, nasal decongestant drops, nasonex) It was amazing. After a week I did not have any nose blocked, the nasal decongestant worked like magic, and when i forgot to take my nose blocked lol... So i learned a lesson to not missed the medication time. I went for follow up and dr Raj Kumar says he's happy that the medication fibally works for me, and eventhough he keeps telling me "anytime i want to have surgery i can" he also reminds me but only when my coughing has stopped completely and untill I am stable for at least a week as he wants to prevent complication during and after surgery.

After another week, I finally had my surgery (removed my tonsil and minor surgery in my sinus) It was very successful, Dr Raj Kumar did an amazing job esspecially his prognosis from the first day I met Him, I trusted him all the way. I am so grateful to him and I only wished I have gone to meet him sooner then i could have saved 3 years of sinus and tonsil problem.

It has been 2 months post op. i am feeling great. I haven't gotten sick, I am only on Nasonex which was prescribe long term for me, Dr Raj Kumar said because of my sinus allergy I have no choice but to use Nasonex everyday since it isn't a condition that can be cured, but it can put my allergy under control since if sinus get inflamed over and over again can thicken the sinus openings, so I now use it everyday when I wake up, I was told to follow up for using nasonex after 6 months, I'll see how it goes, so far no problem yet. i forgot to mention how during my first 2 weeks of nasonex, one day i forgot to spray when i woe uo then I went out to hang my clothes and smelled the washing detergent from my clothes, my nose began running like leaking tap, I was wondering how come all the sudden when i was fine then I remembered omg nasonex! I came to realised how effective it was.

Also just 2 weeks ago I finally was able to go try out a korean bbq restaurant which is quite popular (Shinmapo), the first time I went I had to leave the restaurant immediately due to the smokes from the charcoal bbq, I am a huge foodie, I was rly upset I couldn't try it since it was reccomended highly by my sister and friends. But thanks to nasonex I can now enjoy korean bbq's and even walking through the detergent aisle in the supermarket and the perfume/fragrance counter in shopping malls without getting runny nose or phelgm build up.

This is my story up to this point, it already looked so long, I have more to say hahahah but I'll make it short I hope those who suffer the same problems as I do find my experience helpful. Please do consult with your doctors on the medications I have mentioned as it is a prescribed medications.

I do reccomend Dr. Raj Kumar (ENT specialist, Pantai Hospital Klang)

Not only did he helped me greatly, he is genuinely a nice and caring person. He even gives my mom free consultation on diabetis and also he's helping me with my high blood cholesterol. He's like a life coach to me too. It was unimaginable to have met such a good doctor, it was my first out of so many.
pls pardon my typos, I was doing it on my phone and my hand got tired from writing such a long post.

I just got charge RM500 for med + consultation fees from Dr. Khor , 180 for consultation while some people got it cheaper, I think maybe it is true from rumors that Dr. Khor charge accordingly to you financial situation (my dad wear a Rolex when accompanying me...) Dr.Khor has booked a surgery next week for me which I paid 300 for the deposit already and I willing to let it go for 2nd opinion but just wanted to ask if I really need a 2nd opinion or not. The surgery he told my dad that it would cost more than 10k ....

For those who visit Manipal Hospitals in Klang, here are my experiences on these two ENT doctors. No operation involved, just periodic checking of ears and cleaning of ears due to hardened wax. These are my observations based on the attitude or character of the doctors concerned.

Dr Muthu Kumar Murugesan
user posted image
Friendly and quite a talker. Talks a lot and cheerful. However, wasn't too thorough and careful with the cleaning of the ears which was done pretty quickly and at one point not very careful and caused a slight pain to my ear during cleaning. He said sorry.

Dr Arvin Balachandran
user posted image
Soft-spoken and more attentive to details. Cleaning of ears was done much more carefully and longer. While cleaning the ears, the video on the screen showed the tools slowly extracting the hardened wax inside my ears. All was done carefully and slowly as I watched the wax slowly being removed from my ears. Overall it was a very positive experience. In the end the doctor gave me some solution to dissolve the hardened wax which was useful. This solution was not prescribed during my appointment with Dr Muthu.

In summary, for general checking especially cleaning of the ears due to hardened ear wax, I surely recommend Dr Arvin. For other cases or major operation, no comment as I do not have experience for these cases. Nevertheless, if you want a cheerful, vibrant and loud talker, Dr Muthu is the man to go. If you want quiet, soft-spoken and more polished, Dr Arvin is the doctor to visit. Personally I prefer Dr Arvin and would recommend him.

Yes. Septoplasy, turbinectomy and FESS. Just that easy and solved all my problems. Im so glad and blessed with this Dr Koay Cheng Eng (the older brother) in Sumway Medical Centre. He told me it is a simple, straight forward surgery.1st and 2nd day go thru the IV drips., then perform surgery. I've attached photo of soft bones that caused me deviated septum, excess fats n polylps that has been removed from my nose. I never thought of my problem can be so solve so easily. What a big deal about go thru this surgery?!

Dr Koay Cheng Eng has also solved my the other two peoblem. I done my hemi-throidectomy on 2016 and had sudden hearing loss (SSNHL) on Jan 2017 which also being cured by him.
