For those who visit Manipal Hospitals in Klang, here are my experiences on these two ENT doctors. No operation involved, just periodic checking of ears and cleaning of ears due to hardened wax. These are my observations based on the attitude or character of the doctors concerned.

Dr Muthu Kumar Murugesan

Friendly and quite a talker. Talks a lot and cheerful. However, wasn't too thorough and careful with the cleaning of the ears which was done pretty quickly and at one point not very careful and caused a slight pain to my ear during cleaning. He said sorry.

Dr Arvin Balachandran

Soft-spoken and more attentive to details. Cleaning of ears was done much more carefully and longer. While cleaning the ears, the video on the screen showed the tools slowly extracting the hardened wax inside my ears. All was done carefully and slowly as I watched the wax slowly being removed from my ears. Overall it was a very positive experience. In the end the doctor gave me some solution to dissolve the hardened wax which was useful. This solution was not prescribed during my appointment with Dr Muthu.

In summary, for general checking especially cleaning of the ears due to hardened ear wax, I surely recommend Dr Arvin. For other cases or major operation, no comment as I do not have experience for these cases. Nevertheless, if you want a cheerful, vibrant and loud talker, Dr Muthu is the man to go. If you want quiet, soft-spoken and more polished, Dr Arvin is the doctor to visit. Personally I prefer Dr Arvin and would recommend him.

I cannot recall the cost of the war wax removal although i could check the recordsin the file which isn't with me at the moment. Not expensive. I think It is below RM150. The procedure is not painful at all. It is mostly down to the skill and patience of the doctor. It was one of the most relaxed and comfortable experiences I've had with the ear wax removal, by Dr Arvin.

Would like to check the latest information on good ENT specialists that not only give good advice ie. only suggesting or recommending surgery when necessary, successful operation without any serious follow-up complications etc. with reasonable consultation fees.

2. Datuk Sushil ENT Specialist

Based on my previous encounter with other ENT specialist mainly consultation, I do not recommend Dr Koay Eng Cheng of Sunway Medical centre.
Dr Chang Chew Ming of Assunta hospital, I consulted him for my ear which is a minor problem, no issues. No issue with Dr Dr. Muthu Kumar Murugesan and Dr Arvin Balachandran of Bukit Tinggi Medical Centre too for minor checkup and cleaning of the ears.

This time it is more major which may require surgery to correct a deviated septum. Has anyone got any experience with the above 2 ENT specialists? Or any other good encounters? I would appreciate some advice.

Looks like I'm answering my own thread. Finally opted to go with Dr Sushil Brito of SJMC. Very down-to-earth doctor from first impression, and although seemingly full of energy and busy with patients keep calling him on the phone including one Datin who asked to see him, he took the time to explain all questions I asked, rather patiently unlike some doctors who will rush it through and not seemingly interested to explain in detail especially Dr Koay Cheng Eng. Recommended, based on first impression and demeanour shown.




Will be going for septoplasty surgery and some other procedures to correct the issues.
